Chapter 249: Chapter 214: Sun and Moon in the Dice
The battle at the exit grew increasingly chaotic and fierce.
A few of the official geniuses from Lin Hua Country tried their best to control the situation, calling for everyone to calm down, but it was no use.
Once inside the Divine Dice, peace was impossible. Conflict was inevitable, especially when one’s own life was on the line. No one was going to show deference to others.
This very chaos instilled a sense of crisis in more people. So who hadn’t originally planned on leaving in the first round were now trying to get closer to the exit, desperate to escape this quagmire.
But whoever got closest to an exit beca the target of a concentrated assault.
If this continued, it was likely no one would be able to leave. The exits were only open for three minutes; they would automatically close if no one passed through.
Since Su Ze’s group wasn’t involved in the fight, they watched leisurely from below. However, Su Ze and Mr. Ya noticed that the fifty-sothing Firoz hadn’t joined the lee either.
Logically, the older one was, the more they’d want to leave. Firoz’s choice to stay for the second round of the trial suggested he was either confident in his own strength or wanted to find an opportunity to deal with Mr. Ya.
Su Ze had considered taking the initiative and striking at Firoz first. But for one, the other two Trialists from Luofan Country were always guarding Firoz. For another, there were too many people around, especially the ddleso ones from Lin Hua Country’s official side. Su Ze was worried they would break up the fight.
In any case, since Firoz hadn’t chosen to leave, Su Ze decided to look for a better opportunity later.
anwhile, Firoz was openly observing Mr. Ya. Seeing that no one from the Dongli team had left and that all four of them were sticking together, he also chose to bide his ti.
If Zhang Tai had chosen to leave in the first round, Firoz might have already made a move against Su Ze’s group by now.
Firoz had indeed chosen to stay to deal with Mr. Ya, but it was also because he felt he could pass the second trial.
In the first trial, he had faced an opponent at the Peak of the Butterfly Transformation Stage. He had still managed to defeat them, relying on his vast combat experience and formidable strength. He had been at the Peak of the Butterfly Transformation Stage for many years, constantly building his foundation. Few within the Butterfly Stage were his match.
As long as the second trial wasn’t at the Saint level, Firoz was confident.
The lee above continued. People were constantly getting injured, but fortunately, most still retained a final shred of sanity. For the ti being, no one had died.
Soone, keeping track of the ti, knew they couldn’t delay any longer. Risking a concentrated assault from the crowd, they braced themselves and charged toward an exit!
So succeeded. Though they may have been seriously injured, they had managed to escape.
Others, however, were stopped in their tracks by a barrage of skill attacks.
One, two, three...
The exits closed one after another. Seeing only one last exit remain, the older evolutionists began to sprint like madn.
BOOM!
With a trendous explosion, a middle-aged man in his forties was obliterated by a concentrated barrage of skills. His body exploded into countless fragnts that rained down, splashing blood all over the people nearby.
"Who did it!" a furious roar echoed. A young man’s face was flushed red with anger. He was from a major family in Lin Hua Country, and the middle-aged man who had been killed by the barrage was his uncle.
Finally, soone had died.
This sudden turn of events stunned everyone for half a second. But soone seized that brief opportunity to dash through the exit.
The last exit closed, and the Dice Space plunged back into darkness.
The scene, which had been chaotic and clamorous just a mont ago, fell deathly silent.
The people who had been trying to kill each other just a second before now silently regrouped with their respective teammates and descended.
It was then that the entire Dice Space suddenly began to shake.
Su Ze’s pupils constricted. This wasn’t the first ti he’d felt this vibration; it happened every ti the die rolled.
But this ti was different. The vibration lasted longer than ever before, as if the die was rolling continuously.
In fact, he was right. At that mont, in the outside world, the Divine Dice was tumbling violently.
Outside, a group of Saint-level experts stared unblinkingly at the massive, rolling die. Not far from them, the six lucky Trialists who had escaped the die, all bearing injuries, were recounting everything that had happened inside while receiving treatnt.
None of the Saint-level experts looked pleased. The danger of the Divine Dice this ti had exceeded their expectations. Not only had the trial’s difficulty increased, but the number of survival slots had also decreased.
Just then, the tumbling die gradually ca to a stop.
The number rolled on top was a "3"!
KER-CHUNK!
The three dots on the "3" face opened simultaneously.
At the sa ti, everyone inside the Dice Space felt the shaking stop. Three beams of light shone down from above once more.
"Three more exits appeared?!"
"Can soone tell
what’s going on?"
"So all that fighting tooth and nail to get out was completely pointless? More exits were going to show up anyway!"
Staring at the three new exits, many of the people who had just been scrambling to get out suddenly hesitated.
They had thought there were only six slots to leave in the first round, but now another three had appeared. Who knew if even more slots would open up after these three?
But those who had been determined to leave from the start, but hadn’t managed to get one of the first six slots, didn’t hesitate now. They flew at full speed straight toward the three new exits.
There were only three exits, but more than three people wanted to leave, so another struggle was naturally unavoidable.
However, it was much better than before. Realizing that the number of escape slots wasn’t as few as they had imagined, and that more might appear soon, people didn’t fight with the sa desperation.
Soon, three more people successfully left, and all three exits closed.
However, no new exits appeared.
"So the number of slots for the first round went from twelve to nine?"
"No, I don’t think it changed to nine. I think it was six fixed slots for the first wave, and the second wave was a random die roll. Whatever number it lands on, that’s how many people can leave!" soone speculated.
Hearing this, everyone thought about it and realized it seed to be the case. The long-lasting vibration from just now must have been the Divine Dice rolling.
"It seems the next two rounds will follow this pattern, at least: fixed slots plus random slots. That’s barely acceptable. If we get lucky and roll a six, even more people can get out later."
"More, my ass! From a probability standpoint, you know the number of slots is bound to decrease. We’re already down three slots in this first round!" soone retorted.
"Well, it’s still better than having the slots for the first three rounds cut in half!"
Whatever the rules were, now that they were inside the Divine Dice, there was no turning back. They could only adapt.
Su Ze could sense a subtle change in the atmosphere within the Dice Space after the fight for the exits.
Originally, although these Trialists ca from various factions, they were all ultimately under the rule of Lin Hua Country. They had been subconsciously following the rules of the outside world, and there was no overt hostility between them.
But after the battle for the exits, with many injured and one dead, the small groups from different factions had already begun to grow wary of one another.
It was as if they had left Lin Hua Country and entered the wilderness. Everyone felt like they had left civilized society and entered a primitive era.
This was a ntal shift that was bound to happen to the Trialists inside the die. In the past, however, this shift wouldn’t occur until at least after the second trial was over.
Furthermore, it was only at the end of the third trial, when a large number of older Trialists had to leave, that the conflict between the small groups would beco white-hot.
But now, due to the change in the Divine Dice’s rules, this process had been accelerated.
In the first round of previous trials, no one would fight over the twelve slots; they often couldn’t even find twelve people willing to leave. Now, they were forced to fight fiercely for slots right from the first round.
One could already foresee that the conflicts to co would be even more intense.
Although Su Ze’s group of four had yet to clash with other factions inside the die, many people were already at odds with them, and they had to be on guard.
The primary group to guard against were the Luofan Country Trialists led by Firoz. Next were the two Trialists from Mu Country, who were on good terms with Luofan Country, as well as the few from Ancient An Country. They also had to be wary of the five "holy rollers" from the Evolution Divine Teachings.
Of the 63 Trialists, 4 had died and 9 had left, leaving 50 people.
Everyone was waiting for the second trial to begin.
Su Ze rembered sothing and asked Mr. Ya, "Have you digested the extract in your body?"
Mr. Ya nodded. "The transparent energy rewarded from the first trial was very useful. It not only helped
digest the remaining Abyss Shadow Lord extract but also accumulated so of it inside ."
"Doesn’t that an you can find a chance to absorb the second vial of the tier-four extract?"
"Let’s see if I can pass the second trial quickly. I hope it’s not a combat-type trial, so I can finish early and squeeze in so ti to absorb the extract."
Su Ze nodded slightly. The two agreed to clear the second trial as quickly as possible. When the ti ca, Su Ze would stand guard for Mr. Ya, allowing him to absorb the extract in peace.
It had to be said, Headmaster Zhou Wenshan had been very thoughtful, specifically reminding Mr. Ya to bring the tier-four fly-type extract inside.
Just then, the Dice Space began to vibrate again. This ti, however, the shaking was brief. Everyone knew the second trial was about to begin.
Two spheres of light lit up above, representing the "2" face of the die and signaling the start of the second trial.
Everyone stared at the two spheres of light overhead and noticed they weren’t the sa. One was dazzling, the other pure and bright, like the sun and the moon.
In a daze, everyone felt as if they were being sucked into those two spheres of light that resembled the sun and moon.
The sa happened to Su Ze. He felt an intense light strip away all his senses, and in the blink of an eye, he had arrived in another space.
It wasn’t just him. Su Ze looked around and found that all the other Trialists, including Mr. Ya and his group, had also been transported here.
However, each of them was separated by an invisible wall of air. They couldn’t move left or right; only the path forward and backward was clear, as if they were standing on a track.
And above their heads, in the endless sky, were two enormous clusters of light—one like the moon, the other like the sun.
