Chapter 203: Chapter 178: Dung Eater’s Evolution 2
But Mr. Ya’s eyes widened, his face alight with excitent. "I just saw the pupa move!"
"Are you sure?" Su Ze was startled. Today was the third day since the dung-eater had pupated; it could erge from its chrysalis at any mont.
Just as they finished speaking, the giant chrysalis twitched again.
"Quick, notify Mr. Zhou!" Su Ze said urgently.
Mr. Ya imdiately called Zhou Wenshan to report the news.
Seconds later, Zhou Wenshan had already arrived.
Su Ze thought for a mont and also sent a ssage to Liou Wenxin. She had always wanted to observe the dung-eater’s evolution process and would definitely not want to miss it.
A mont later, the giant chrysalis twitched again. Zhou Wenshan’s expression grew grim. To be safe, he took out his phone to call for backup.
And so, a few minutes later, Liou Wenxin arrived first. A little while after that, the Saint-level Overlord, General Li Fayi, also showed up.
"You three, step back for now, so you don’t get caught in the crossfire later," Zhou Wenshan said, turning to Su Ze and the other two.
Su Ze, Liou Wenxin, and Mr. Ya quickly retreated several hundred ters.
What followed was a long wait. The giant chrysalis would twitch about every ten minutes, but there was no telling when it would finally erge.
An hour later, a small crack suddenly split open at one end of the giant chrysalis.
The opening was steadily pushed open and stretched wider from the inside, and a round, bright-red fly head poked out.
A look of pleasant surprise appeared on Mr. Ya’s face. The chrysalis had cracked open, which ant the dung-eater’s evolution was almost a success!
The evolution from a Tier 3 to a Tier 4 dung-eater had a significant chance of failure. Success required a good deal of luck.
Zhou Wenshan and Li Fayi were instantly on guard, but they couldn’t make a move yet. The evolution would only be considered complete once the fly-like mutated beast had fully erged from its chrysalis.
The giant chrysalis was torn apart piece by piece, gradually revealing the mutated fly beast’s body. It was covered in fine fuzz, its entire body a dark gray. Its legs were lined with barbs, and a long, sharp proboscis extended from its bright-red head.
At this mont, the giant fly’s body emitted a faint yellow and green glow, and the yellow light was steadily being overtaken by the green.
Once it completely shed its pupal casing and successfully eclosed, the light of evolution would turn completely green, signifying that the evolution was a success and it had beco a true Tier 4 fly-type mutated beast.
Zhou Wenshan and Li Fayi flanked the giant fly, surrounding it and waiting quietly.
Suddenly, the fly-type mutated beast, which had been struggling to get out, stopped moving.
"What’s going on? Did sothing go wrong with the evolution?" Mr. Ya asked anxiously.
Zhou Wenshan frowned, observing the half-erged mutated fly beast. It was stretching out its two front legs, leisurely rubbing them together.
"The beast knows we’re going to hunt it, so it’s deliberately staying inside!"
Hearing this, Li Fayi cursed, "Cunning little pest!"
A Tier 4 mutated beast’s intelligence was no less than a human’s. It knew that erging now ant certain death, so it simply refused to co out.
If it didn’t continue to erge, its evolution wouldn’t be fully complete, and Zhou Wenshan and Li Fayi wouldn’t kill it. So, it cleverly chose to slack off, which would at least let it live a little longer.
At the Saint level, mutated beasts were already at a disadvantage compared to human evolvers. Normally, a mutated beast was no match for a Saint-level evolver of the sa tier.
Not to ntion, it had just finished evolving and wasn’t yet fully familiar with its abilities, yet it had to face an attack from two human evolvers at once.
Zhou Wenshan pondered for a mont. Suddenly, a transparent, crystal-like orb appeared in his hand. He held the orb in front of his chest, his eyes losing focus as they began to glow with a strange, silvery light.
The next mont, sothing incredible happened. The slacking giant fly suddenly started moving again, its legs chanically tearing away the pupal casing that still clung to half its body.
In the blink of an eye, it burst out of the chrysalis!
A giant fly, a size larger than a sow, appeared before them, looking both nacing and disgusting.
A pure green light of evolution shone from its body.
The giant fly suddenly shuddered and broke free from Zhou Wenshan’s Mind Control.
Zhou Wenshan staggered, his face paling slightly. He had just used the power of a wondrous artifact to augnt his Spiritual Power, which was barely enough to control the near-Tier 4 giant fly. Now that it had erged and beco a true Tier 4 mutated beast, it was beyond his ability to control.
Although his Spiritual Power was strong, he couldn’t completely control a mutated beast of the sa tier. That was even more difficult than directly using a spiritual attack to obliterate its soul.
The giant fly beat its wings, stirring up a gale accompanied by a dizzying drone. Taking advantage of the opening created by Zhou Wenshan’s daze from overexerting his Spiritual Power, it shot into the sky, trying to escape.
But how could Li Fayi let it escape? He leaped into the sky, landed precisely on the giant fly’s back, and forcibly grabbed its vibrating wings. RIIIP! He brutally tore the fly’s transparent wings clean off.
The giant fly shrieked in pain and dove toward Su Ze and the others on the ground. But halfway down, its movent suddenly froze, and it spun around in a daze.
It turned out Zhou Wenshan had made his move, launching a spiritual strike against the giant fly.
Li Fayi seized the opportunity to draw a great axe. With one swing, he lopped off the giant fly’s head. With another, he split its torso from its lower body.
A Tier 4 mutated beast, not even a minute after completing its evolution, was slain under the combined assault of two Saint-level experts.
Li Fayi kicked the giant fly’s corpse at his feet and yelled to Mr. Ya, "Kid, hurry up and get the extract."
Mr. Ya had long since prepared a high-grade extractor capable of drawing Saint-level extracts. He rushed over and used it on each of the three severed pieces of the giant fly’s corpse, managing to get just one vial of green extract.
With the second vial of Tier 4 extract for his Butterfly Stage in hand, Mr. Ya’s face lit up with excitent. He tactfully said, "The mutated giant fly’s corpse should be left for the school to use for research."
Having required the labor of two Saint-level experts, Mr. Ya was more than satisfied with just getting the extract and proactively handed over the mutated beast’s corpse.
Zhou Wenshan nodded. "Then send it to Professor Liou’s lab for now."
By now it was late at night. Mr. Ya thanked Zhou Wenshan and Li Fayi repeatedly, watching as the two Saint-level Overlords departed.
Afterward, he stored the mutated giant fly’s corpse in a storage item and, together with Su Ze, delivered it to Liou Wenxin’s laboratory.
Additionally, Mr. Ya temporarily left the giant fly extract with Liou Wenxin for her research, just as he had promised her long ago.
Mr. Ya had yet to fully digest the Tier 4, A-rank Abyss Shadow Lord extract in his body, so he couldn’t absorb another vial for the ti being.
It had been two months since Mr. Ya absorbed the Abyss Shadow Lord extract. He had absorbed his one month after Mrs. Yun, for whom it had now been three months since she absorbed the Wind Tiger extract.
This ti, Su Ze had brought back a good amount of Sun and Moon Epiphyllum Honey from the Oasis. With its help, both Mr. Ya and Mrs. Yun’s digestion speed for the extracts would increase significantly.
Mrs. Yun would likely finish digesting the Wind Tiger extract before long. When that happened, it would remain to be seen whether she could successfully advance to the Saint level.
Back at the villa, while the moonlight still lingered, Su Ze took a black pill and continued practicing his dance.
...
「In the Desolate Desert, west of the Great Desert Kingdom.」
Yellow sand swirled, covering swathes of mutated beast carcasses on the ground.
A strange man covered in leaves, with skin like bark and hair like roots, suddenly threw his head back and roared, "Qiangzi! Don’t go!"
With that, he seed to rge with the yellow sand, burrowing into it and disappearing from sight.
A middle-aged man with naturally curly hair sighed. "A single drop of Miracle Spring Water really isn’t enough to completely cure him."
Standing behind the curly-haired man was Bai Guishou, dressed in a white suit. He deliberately asked, "Are you planning to go to the Miracle Oasis to retrieve the water yourself, sir?"
The curly-haired man narrowed his eyes and glanced at Bai Guishou with a cold smile. "It seems you’re quite displeased that I’m sending you to the Miracle Oasis."
"I wouldn’t dare," Bai Guishou said, feigning terror.
The curly-haired man looked away. "An Overlord-level entering the Miracle Oasis won’t imdiately provoke a counterattack from the Mother Tree, at the very least. If you’re lucky, you might even receive a gift of Miracle Spring Water from the Mother Tree, like King Mu did.
"A Supre-level life form like myself, on the other hand, would likely face the Mother Tree’s full-powered assault the mont I stepped into the inner circle of the Oasis.
"Even I would probably not fare well against that old tree."
