Chapter 147: Chapter 139: Living Coral Island (Part 2)
But it was completely useless. These Coral Insects wouldn’t die even if their bodies were pierced, and even if a few of them died, it wouldn’t affect the Coral Monster’s movents as a whole.
Su Ze tried a different approach. He spread Gravity Dust Sand around himself, using the gravitational force to forcibly pull the Coral Insects out from the coral, then smashed them with a single punch.
It worked!
After a bitter fight, Su Ze figured out so of the Coral Monsters’ patterns. The individual Coral Insects were weak, but they beca strong once they combined. The more Coral Insects that grouped together, the stronger the resulting Coral Monster would be.
The best thod was to separate them and pick them off one by one.
But they were bound together tightly, as if they were a single entity. The more Coral Insects combined, the harder the coral exterior beca, making it incredibly tough.
Su Ze had to expend a great deal of effort, unleashing all sorts of skills, before he finally managed to kill one Coral Monster.
He was shocked. ’These Coral Insect beasts are just too strong!’
The Coral Monster he had just killed was composed entirely of Tier 1, or even sub-Tier 1, Coral Insects. There wasn’t a single Tier 2 among them, yet it could display the power of a Tier 2 S-Class beast, and it was even harder to kill than a typical one.
Over where Jia Yuan was, he was fighting an even larger Coral Monster. The Coral Insects that ford it were just a large number of Tier 1s and a few Tier 2s, yet it could fight a Butterfly Stage expert to a standstill.
’If all these Coral Insects combined to form that Coral Island from before, just how strong would it be?’
No wonder it could chase after two Saint-level overlords.
’I wonder what tier the highest-level Coral Insect on that Coral Island is.’
Su Ze guessed that since the Coral Insects could act in unison, there must be a leader—the strongest individual on the Coral Island.
After killing a Coral Monster, Su Ze imdiately looked for his next target. He happened to see Ye Jin being chased by one. Her specialty, "All Dao Return to One," was difficult to use against this type of thickly-armored beast.
When she touched the coral on the outside of the Coral Insects, she couldn’t apply her negative effects. She could only apply them by touching the actual bodies of the insects. But their tentacles were covered in stinging cells. The mont she touched a Coral Insect, she would also be stung and poisoned.
Ye Jin felt like she’d t her nesis.
’Real combat is the only way to find your weaknesses...’ she thought, secretly resolving to find a way to perfect the shortcomings of the "All Dao Return to One" style when she got back.
Su Ze hurried over and intercepted the Coral Monster for her. Watching him use Gravity Dust Sand and Furious Waves to slowly chip away and smash the Coral Monster to pieces, Ye Jin once again started to doubt herself. ’Am I on the wrong path?’
Although Su Ze was having so success, the overall situation was still developing unfavorably.
The soldiers of the Dongli Kingdom weren’t just facing Coral Monsters, but also a large number of other beasts. After fighting for so long, they were already exhausted, holding on purely through sheer willpower.
Ning Yushen was also having a hard ti against the giant Coral Monster. He was barely holding on, and it was unclear how much longer he could last.
In contrast, over on the Luofan Country’s side, Ye Muni had long since been chased into the city by a Coral Monster. As a newly ascended Saint, Ye Muni’s strength was not on par with Ning Yushen’s to begin with and couldn’t withstand the giant Coral Monster’s attacks at all.
The Luofan Country’s side was in total chaos. With a large number of beasts and Coral Monsters entering Jada City, it would surely cause a massive disturbance and heavy casualties.
The only good news right now was that as the Coral Monsters landed on the beach, no more beasts were coming ashore from the sea. They had probably all fled in the opposite direction.
In other words, the Dongli soldiers only had to clear out the beasts currently on land.
Just then, the few Coral Monsters that Su Ze and the soldiers were fighting suddenly flew toward the one Jia Yuan was dealing with. They rged into one, becoming a four-ter-tall coral giant, its power soaring.
Jia Yuan, who bore the brunt of it, was caught completely off guard. He was sent flying over ten ters by the coral giant’s punch. After getting up, he continued to cough up blood, his face as pale as a sheet.
The other Butterfly Stage experts in the army had to abandon the beasts they were fighting to fill the gap left by Jia Yuan.
Jia Yuan climbed to his feet, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and swallowed two Healing dicines. Then he charged forward again to fight the coral giant alongside the other Butterfly Stage experts.
With that, the situation beca several Butterfly Stage experts battling the coral giant, while the remaining soldiers dealt with the other beasts.
The focus now was on defense. They weren’t trying to kill as many beasts as possible; as long as they could keep the beasts outside their gates, it would be considered a success.
However, so beasts had already broken through the city wall’s defensive line. A group of soldiers was about to give chase when Su Ze stopped them.
"Leave it to ."
He pulled Ye Jin along, and the two of them quickly crossed over the city wall, spotting the beasts that were fleeing toward the city district.
Su Ze raised a hand, and a Gravity Chain shot out, pulling one of the beasts back.
Ye Jin, beside him, imdiately reached out and touched the beast, stacking it with all kinds of debuffs.
Su Ze kicked the beast away. The Gravity Chain struck again, grabbing the fleeing beasts one by one and pulling them back as if playing a crane ga.
He casually crushed the weaker ones to death. For the stronger ones, he had Ye Jin load them up with debuffs, then tossed them aside to be finished off once they were weakened.
The two of them cooperated with high efficiency, quickly taking care of the beasts that had crossed the defensive line.
"Let’s go. We’ll clear out the other beasts outside the city."
Ye Jin called to Su Ze, and they returned to the area outside the city wall.
At this point, the soldiers were still locked in a bitter struggle with the beasts. The other beasts were manageable, but a few Tier 3 beasts were proving to be a problem. With all the Butterfly Stage experts busy fighting the coral giant, these Tier 3 beasts had no opponents, and the soldiers could only barely resist by relying on their nurical advantage.
Among them, a walrus beast was the most ferocious. Taking advantage of its size, it had astonishing destructive power. Like a siege behemoth, it charged the city wall, and with just two impacts, it covered the wall in cracks.
A Tier 3 B-Class, the Mammoth Walrus.
Against a Tier 3 S-Class beast like the Gravity Demon, Su Ze might not have stood a chance without Mr. Ya’s help. But against a Tier 3 B-Class, he felt he could give it a try.
As an evolver’s level increased, humanity’s advantage over beasts would beco more and more apparent. A typical Tier 3 beast was not as powerful as a Butterfly Stage evolver.
Su Ze could only flee when facing a Butterfly Stage evolver, but against a Tier 3 B-Class beast, and with a teammate’s support, a fight wasn’t necessarily out of the question.
Su Ze fired a Gravity Chain, but it didn’t pull the Mammoth Walrus over. It was quite difficult to move a beast of this enormous size. Instead, he used the force to pull himself over, using the Gravity Chain like a grappling hook to leap onto the Mammoth Walrus’s back.
The mont he landed, he fired another Gravity Chain and pulled Ye Jin up as well.
Su Ze imdiately activated his Ant Power Skill. A needle-like strike broke through the Mammoth Walrus’s defense, and Ye Jin then ran her hand over the wound.
Although her "Unity of Ten Thousand Dao" could be triggered without touching a wound, the effect was better if there was an open injury.
This was actually a bit similar to the "Poison Attack" tactic Su Ze and Mr. Ya often used. However, Ye Jin’s skill wasn’t just poison; it included a whole bunch of other negative effects.
The Mammoth Walrus was a purely physical-attack type of beast. Sensing the two people on its back, it shifted its position and tried to ram them against the city wall with its back.
Su Ze wrapped an arm around Ye Jin, aid another Gravity Chain at the top of the distant city wall, and flew over like Spider-Man.
After dodging the Mammoth Walrus’s charge, Su Ze leaped down from the city wall and landed on the beast’s back again. He unleashed another combo, adding several more wounds to its body.
Ye Jin also applied "Unity of Ten Thousand Dao" in ti, and the two of them escaped again.
After repeating this maneuver several tis, Su Ze was exhausted. He stood atop the city wall to recover his stamina.
anwhile, the Mammoth Walrus grew weaker and weaker, tornted by all the negative statuses.
Once he had recovered so of his stamina, Su Ze jumped onto the Mammoth Walrus’s back again and unleashed "Furious Waves." The shockwave knocked the Mammoth Walrus to the ground, plunging it into a brief state of Dizziness.
"Everyone, attack!"
With a loud shout from Su Ze, the surrounding soldiers sward forward, subrging the Mammoth Walrus in a flood of skills.
