Chen Ling pondered for a while: “Shen Yuan doesn’t seem to want to change, just look at the International campus, it’s practically beco his backyard. Since we can’t change Shen Yuan, why not work on Minhui’s mindset as her bestie?”
At this thought, Chen Ling felt a surge of respect for herself. She was so competent. If there were a “Star City Best Bestie” award, she’d absolutely win it.
In the last few days, she had done more than just comfort Fang Minhui. She had helped with cooking, chores around the house, and even sacrificed her own sleep to keep her company—a feat not even Minhui’s own mother might manage.
“Shen Yuan, I hope you see what I’m doing. As a bestie, I haven’t spoken ill of you, haven’t advised you two to break up, and am even helping you coax your girlfriend. Later on, you’d better sort out with a high-paying job.”

During dinner, Chen Ling helped Fang Minhui with the dishes and said, “Minhui, you should eat more, you’ve lost weight these past few days.”

Fang Minhui finally lifted her beautiful eyes, staring blankly at Chen Ling, “Lingling, do you want to break up with Shen Yuan too?”
“What else then? Being with him makes you so unhappy, better to just break up.”
Chen Ling said earnestly, “You have so many admirers, why worry about finding a good match? Not to ntion your class, but there are also many guys from our departnt who like you.”
Fang Minhui shook her head softly, “I don’t like them.”
“So, you still want to be with Shen Yuan, right?”
Chen Ling tilted her head and asked seriously.
Fang Minhui didn’t answer this ti, just poked at the bottom of her bowl with her chopsticks. Of course, she didn’t want to break up.
“Do you want to hear what I think, Minhui?”
Chen Ling said sincerely.
Fang Minhui once again raised her beautiful eyes, looking at her best friend’s face, and gave a “Mhm.”
“I think the reason you’re feeling so miserable now is because your expectations don’t match what you’re getting.”
Chen Ling put down her chopsticks and continued, “You always see yourself as Shen Yuan’s girlfriend, and subconsciously you think he has only you as a girlfriend, so learning the truth this ti has hurt and upset you.”
Fang Minhui’s feelings sank even lower. Although she didn’t want to admit it, the reality was that she saw herself as the legitimate girlfriend.

“Also, Shen Yuan wouldn’t feel pressured. Think about it, if you always act this way, Shen Yuan will feel guilty and remorseful when he sees you. Do you think he’ll be able to relax with you?”
