On the boundless shores of a blood sea, countless dead monstrous snakes lay scattered across the rocky sandy beach.

These monstrous snakes were dozens of ters long with bodies as thick as a person’s height, and their underbellies had nine claws. What was even more peculiar was the number of heads they had.

It was rare to see one with only a single head; those with three or five heads were considered ordinary. Their heads, covered with spines and sharp horns like a hedgehog, were comparable in size to a two-ter-wide bed.

Hong Xiu stood by the sea, with a cloud of fire as big as a basketball court by his side, on which lay a pile of multi-headed monstrous snake corpses, like a small mountain.

He was long accustod to such a sight and rely gazed absent-mindedly at the boundless blood sea that wafted a faint fragrance, his face filled with lancholy.

Half a month ago, the remnants of the Hai Character Camp were brought back to the main camp by Hu Cheng and were quickly dispersed. He then ended up at this beach battlefield under the command of the You Character Banner.

Hong Xiu always considered himself extraordinary. Since arriving in Nether Demon Heaven, he had employed every tactic at his disposal. But after much ado and roundabout paths, he ironically found himself back to the old job of the Fla Moving Division.

Fate has made a fool of !

While he was wallowing in self-pity, a sudden chill assaulted his heart, as if a great demon or monster had set its sights on him!

Instinctively, he looked up and saw that one of the monstrous snake heads, which had just been lying on the Fla Wheel Vehicle, had suddenly leapt into the air and was opening its mouth wide to swallow him whole.

For a mont, Hong Xiu could even see the blood-colored sky above him through the creature’s broken throat. Yet this sowhat comical scene drained all the color from his face.

Because apart from the wide-open mouth that could see through to the other end, he also saw the glinting cold light on the rows of sharp teeth, which resembled rows of knives. And if even a single drop touched an auxiliary soldier, the fiercely corrosive venom that could reduce them to ash was slithering on those teeth.

His body instinctively stiffened, and even moving a muscle beca a luxury he couldn’t afford.

As he despaired and awaited death, he abruptly realized that the enormous head was unexpectedly suspended mid-air, still as a statue—every droplet of falling venom was motionless above his head.

Whoosh!

A mass of pitch-black flas suddenly burst forth before his eyes. The enormous head was engulfed by the dark flas in an instant. A thick, burnt stench spread, and within a few breaths, the large head was reduced to ashes and scattered with the wind.

"Old Ox, what kind of ridiculous idea were you pondering over this ti?" Chen Mu’s figure suddenly appeared beside Hong Xiu, smilingly staring at him.

Hong Xiu’s mouth twitched.

So the nickna ’Old Ox’ is here to stay, huh!

"Thank you for saving my life, General!" Hong Xiu took a deep breath and with a face full of frustration, he clasped his hands in thanks.

"No need to thank ." Chen Mu chuckled, waving his hand: "Go on with your tasks."

As he watched Hong Xiu leave, Chen Mu couldn’t help but shake his head.

He had been in this place for half a month. As the newly promoted General of the Wu Fourth Banner of the You Character Division of the Fla Moving Division, for the first few days, he could still enjoy so peace and leisure in the camp. But recently, this beach had beco more and more dangerous; a slight inattention could lead to injury or death, so he couldn’t continue to slack off.

Most of his Yin Spirits were from Thousand Lanterns City, and the remaining hundred or so people had been filled in after the remnants of the Hai Character Camp were disbanded and reorganized. Many of them were familiar faces from the Yi Third Banner. Among them, he saw the gaunt old man Jia who organized the betting gas.

Since they were not entirely strangers, Chen Mu couldn’t bear to ignore them. He had no choice but to co here to take command and ensure the safety of the auxiliary soldiers under his banner.

"Tsk... I have no idea why Antiquity City places such importance on these demonic corpses, insisting on moving them back to the main camp with so much effort."

...

"Of course, it’s for the sacrifice and refinent of the Soul Summoning Banner!"

Late at night, in Thousand Lanterns City, Shen Yan revealed the secret of Antiquity City with an indifferent expression.

Since he had already given the Jade Gate Curse to Chen Mu, he didn’t mind divulging a little more.

"Please elaborate!" Chen Mu imdiately beca interested.

"This expedition of Antiquity City to Nether Demon Heaven is for the purpose of hunting demonic beasts. First is to offer sacrifices to the River of Oblivion. And second, to refine the Soul Summoning Banner."

"City Lord Jian has achieved the Yin Divine realm for many years and aspired to reach further. In addition to waiting it out, so special thods are necessary."

"Those twelve Soul Summoning Banners are crucial for his attainnt of the Nether Spirit realm."

"Nether Spirit? I seem to have heard of it sowhere?" Chen Mu raised an eyebrow, curious.

"You heard a fart!" Shen Yan glanced at Chen Mu dismissively: "To condense the Divine Fetus, mold the nine orifices, nurture the Yin Spirit, only then, when Yin and Yang ld together, can one achieve the Nether Spirit realm."

"In the entire Antiquity City, only the city lord has reached the Yin Divine realm. The Nether Spirit realm is even more secretive, known only to a handful within the City Lord Mansion. How could you, a little ghost, possibly know?" Shen Yan looked down on Chen Mu with disdain.

"Or are you saying your ancestor deity gave you a divine revelation again?" He smirked mockingly.

Chen Mu: "..."

This old ghost is getting more and more presumptuous, huh!

Now he rembered where he had heard it.

Before arriving in the Nether Yin Underworld, he was once pursued. It seed he faintly heard that those people intended to capture him for sothing called the Nether Spirit Primordial Embryo.

His arrival in the Nether Yin was not entirely a coincidence. Those mysterious individuals probably had so connection with the Nether Yin Underworld.

After a brief mont of thought, Chen Mu shook his head and stopped pondering further.

With so little information, he couldn’t figure out anything definitive. Even if he did co up with sothing, it would be of no help to his current situation. It would be better to spend more ti earning experience points.

With this intention, the grey wall appeared before his eyes.

Mountain-Carrying Scripture: Perfection;

Jade Gate Curse: 7663/10000/Second Rank;

"Too bad for the Mountain-Carrying Scripture." Chen Mu shook his head.

Once the Mountain-Carrying Scripture reached perfection, as long as he could find the resonance point on a nearby Yin Spirit, he could forcibly connect their Yin Spirit Divine Power into one piece.

Unfortunately, since everyone’s vital energies are vastly different unless one spends a long ti with them, such resonance points aren’t easy to discover. While it seems impressive, it actually has limited use.

Moreover, even if he could use it, he didn’t plan to. The swift disbandnt of the Hai Character Camp remnants had sothing to do with this Mountain-Carrying Scripture. This scripture could bypass the City Lord’s Dharma Curse and refine the Soul Summoning Banner. Although it couldn’t take complete control, it was still a troubleso matter for the City Lord Jian. So, the very afternoon he returned to the main camp, the Yin Soldiers under Hu Cheng’s command were all disbanded.

"The Jade Gate Curse is an even greater pity." Chen Mu felt frustrated inside.

He had secretly practiced it for such a long ti and originally planned to surprise Shen Yan when he covertly took control of the Ghost Gate to escape.

Unexpectedly, the Ghost Gate was directly discovered by Hu Cheng, spoiling the plan. Now he wouldn’t get to see Shen Yan’s face change.

"Are you cooking up so nefarious plot again?" Shen Yan, who sat on a brand-new rocking chair, suddenly shivered and imdiately watched Chen Mu with a face full of caution.

"That wouldn’t be the case," said Chen Mu with utter solemnity.

"I was just thinking about the Safe Heart Sutra."

"Really?" Shen Yan looked doubtful.

"Of course, I’m just considering whether to sneak so Yin Spirits in to expedite the progress of my Safe Heart Sutra," Chen Mu said earnestly.

Shen Yan’s attention was imdiately diverted.

"With the assistance of three thousand Yin Spirits, your Safe Heart Sutra still hasn’t touched the limit?"

"That shouldn’t be the case."

"Does this an that my Yin Divine True Form has enormous potential and a limitless future?" Chen Mu couldn’t help but break into a smile.

Shen Yan gave Chen Mu a sidelong glance, "That Spiritual Seed of yours can’t even parasitize a newborn Yin Spirit, and its Bewitching Divine power is like a joke. With such a poor performance, what potential could you possibly speak of!

"Limitless future? Haha! More like ’no future’ if anything!" He said, his face full of mockery.

Chen Mu’s face instantly darkened.

"No future? Are you complaining about the dim environnt inside Thousand Lanterns City?"

"The weather’s great outside, why not go out and show your face under the sun?"

Shen Yan imdiately stiffened up.

The Hai Character Camp had been destroyed, and he bore a heavy responsibility; it’s possible that right now, Antiquity City may be deploying Cursing thods to hunt him down.

Go outside and bask in the sun? Are you trying to get killed?!

Was it just for speaking a few truths?

How did this bastard start taking things seriously...

...

The You Character Camp was stationed on a solitary peak a hundred miles away from the beach.

The peak was flattened out to provide a platform for a new two-story wooden building, which served as the lodging of the camp’s commander, Bai Zhilang.

The rest of the Yin Soldiers and Auxiliary Soldiers were arranged on the mountain, positioning themselves in rows from top to bottom.

At night, within the Auxiliary Soldier Camp at the foot of the mountain.

Inside a lofted row house, raised two ters from the ground, more than a dozen Auxiliary Soldiers lay sleeping soundly.

A strand of bloodlight erged from the foreheads of three of them, resembling a small snake, swaying its head and tail as it silently flew out of the wooden housing.

The camp was deathly quiet, countless blood-red threads andering through the shadows, slowly converging beside a clump of tall trees near a small cliff.

Under the cold, pale moonlight, the bloodlight lded into one, slowly surging upwards and amassing in the blink of an eye into a human shape.

Once the faint bloodlight dissipated, Lan Zhang appeared, his white robe and loose black hair fluttering. He reached his hand out of the shadows as if catching a handful of moonlight, his narrow eyes looking towards the mountain summit, a slow smile spreading across his face.

...

The blood-red sun and pale moon above alternated.

The You Character Camp’s Yin Soldiers went to the Blood Sea every day to lure many-headed serpents out of the water and then killed them on the shore.

But whether it was disturbing a serpent’s nest or not, the many-headed serpents appearing recently had not only increased in number but were also becoming more ferocious.

Chen Mu had witnessed more than once the corpses of Yin Soldiers turning into ash-grey smoke; he had no choice but to move together with the Wu Four Banner to ensure their safety as much as possible.

Being in plain sight made it difficult for him to practice the Safe Heart Sutra. Apart from monitoring the Yin Spirits under his banner, he could only pass ti by repeatedly chanting the Jade Gate Curse and Netherworld Guide.

More than twenty days passed in the blink of an eye.

Though Chen Mu had not practiced earnestly, his experience with the Second Rank Jade Gate Curse was still maxed out.

In the evening, the Auxiliary Soldiers returned to camp.

Chen Mu stood at the doorway of his modest wooden building, seemingly admiring the distant and vast green sea of trees but actually staring blankly. He was quietly absorbing the Jade Gate Curse experience emanating from the grey walls.

In the depths of the Netherworld, he sensed a kind of vague and familiar energy, concealed at the mountain’s waist.

Was that... the Ghost Gate of the You Character Banner?

Chen Mu’s heart stirred, curious, he activated the Jade Gate Curse, striving to perceive it more clearly.

The next mont.

A low hum suddenly emanated from the mountain’s waist.

Chen Mu’s expression changed, and he quickly cut off the Jade Gate Curse, turned, and darted into the wooden house. He kicked off his shoes, crossed his legs on the wooden bed, and pretended to ditate.

Almost instantly, the faint Divine Concealing Mist that enveloped the entire mountain began circling faster as if searching for prey, swirling and sweeping up and down the mountain several tis before finally calming down.

Chen Mu, who sat on the bed pretending to concentrate on practicing the Netherworld Summoning Curse, heaved a huge sigh of relief.

"That was close!"

He didn’t dare to stop imdiately but continued to summon the River of Oblivion Water and Nine Nether Green Flas, acting as if soone were watching, and practiced for more than an hour. Only when the sky was completely dark did he cease his cultivation.

"How impulsive of ," Chen Mu muttered while scratching his head and accessing the grey wall.

Jade Gate Curse: 56/10000/Third Rank;

"Hey! I didn’t expect that the brief mont just now would give over twenty points of experience. If I could just guard the Ghost Gate every day and practice, that experience would soar!"

After indulging in his fantasy for a while and confirming with the Truthful Listening Technique that no one was investigating nearby, he washed up and lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Usually, by this ti, he would have been cultivating the Safe Heart Sutra in Thousand Lanterns City, but now, having stirred up a little trouble, he had to forgo today’s experience points.

What an agony...
