In response to Jiraiya’s request, Kaito straightforwardly described Nagato and Obito’s abilities.
"As for Uchiha Itachi, we only had a brief genjutsu exchange. And that shark-faced guy didn’t make a move."
"Thank you," Jiraiya said, looking serious. Facing Nagato without knowing his abilities could very well end in failure.
"Sasuke’s uncle, I have sothing to ask you too!" Naruto stepped forward.
Kaito looked down at him, "Oh? What is it?"
Naruto pointed his thumb at his stomach, "Earlier, the Nine-Tails told that it was an Uchiha who broke my mom’s seal when she gave birth to . Do you know who it was?"
"I see," Kaito nodded, "I have a rough idea, but I’m not sure. Did the Nine-Tails describe that person’s characteristics or abilities?"
Naruto closed his eyes, seemingly communicating with the Nine-Tails within him. After a while, he opened his eyes and said, "Got it! The Nine-Tails said that person wore a one-eyed mask and used Mangekyo Sharingan and space-ti ninjutsu!"
He squinted his eyes, pondering for a few seconds, and murmured, "That sounds like the guy you ntioned earlier, Obito."
Hearing this, although he had already suspected it, Kaito was still a bit surprised. He remarked, "It must be him. I didn’t expect he’d go that far."
Naruto urgently asked, "Who exactly is this Obito? Why would he do such a thing?"
Kaito glanced at the silent Jiraiya and replied, "Uchiha Obito was once your father’s student and a mber of the sa team as Kakashi. In fact, Kakashi’s Sharingan was given by him."
"What? He was a forr comrade? Why would he do this? Why?" Naruto’s face showed anger and confusion.
Kaito shook his head, "Everyone believed Uchiha Obito died during the Third Ninja War. Before his supposed death, he gave his Sharingan to Kakashi. Why he didn’t die and why he changed so much, no one knows."
"So, my father was killed by his own student?" Tears stread down Naruto’s face, "This is so unfair!"
"Keep working hard, Naruto," Jiraiya said, a flash of pain in his eyes.
Not just his overly talented disciple.
At this mont, he also thought of the Third Hokage, who died at the hands of his disciple Orochimaru.
Encouraging Naruto, he said, "Grow strong, and one day you can stand before Obito and ask him why he did it."
"I will!" Naruto clenched his fists, his eyes burning with determination, "I’ll make sure of it!"
"If you follow , you might see him soon," Kaito suddenly said.
"What do you an?" Jiraiya asked, looking surprised.
"I’ve ntioned before, onmyoji can predict fortune and misfortune," Kaito explained with a faint smile, "Obito’s previous attempt to ambush failed, and he seems to be planning another move soon."
"Really? Pervy Sage, let’s wait for Obito with Sasuke’s uncle!" Naruto shouted excitedly, "I want to protect Sasuke’s uncle!"
"Idiot!" Jiraiya grabbed Naruto by the collar, lifting him off the ground and looking at him disdainfully, "You’re no match for him yet! Right now, your most important task is to train!"
"I don’t care!" Naruto flailed his limbs, "I want to teach that bastard a lesson!"
"You’re such a troubleso kid!" Jiraiya extended his other hand, grabbing Naruto’s wrists.
"Uchiha kid!" Jiraiya said to Kaito, "I’ll take this troubleso brat and won’t be joining you!"
Who knew if what this kid said was true.
Even if it was true, who knew who might show up?
Moreover, the Akatsuki wanted to capture Naruto, so who knew if there might be a trap?
He couldn’t risk taking Naruto into such uncertainty.
"No problem, I was just ntioning it," Kaito didn’t mind.
"So, what ssage do you need to send to the Great Toad Sage?" Jiraiya asked.
"Just one sentence," Kaito smiled aningfully, "A thousand years have passed, let’s hope they make the right choice this ti."
"Is that all?" Jiraiya’s eyes flickered, "Then, see you next ti, Uchiha kid. Let’s hope we’re not enemies then."
Bang!
White smoke rose, and Jiraiya and Naruto disappeared.
"Next ti, huh? Who knows," Kaito also turned to leave.
The sound of wings flapping ca as Ash flew down from a nearby tree, landing on Kaito’s shoulder.
"Gurē gurē gurē gurē ..."
"Speak human language."
"You delivered a ssage to Mt. Myoboku, what about Ryuchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest?"
"Sending a ssage doesn’t an much; they’ll make their own choices in ti."
"Then why did you do it?"
"Supposedly, the Toad Maru of Mt. Myoboku secretly helped in sealing Kaguya. Although it’s unclear if it was out of fear of losing its power to Kaguya. My reminder is to see if it can trigger so new changes."
"What kind of changes?"
"The current situation in the ninja world is clear. I hope the forces of the summoned beasts will also get more involved. At least, they can help cover up the movents of the monsters."
"As expected of you, Kaito! But aside from being summoned by contractors, the summoned beasts rarely appear in the world."
"That depends on what they decide."
...
Mt. Myoboku, in the Great Toad Sage’s hall.
"Is that what he said?" Fukasaku turned to the drowsy Great Toad Sage, "Great Lord, what do you say?"
"..." The Great Toad Sage started snoring.
"Stop sleeping! Answer him!" Shima’s sharp voice rang out.
"Let it go," Fukasaku stopped her, "We’ll ask when the Great Lord wakes up next ti."
"Fine," Shima hopped out of the hall, "Jiraiya, Naruto, follow , I’ll make you sothing delicious."
"Uh..." Jiraiya looked queasy and waved his hands, "Ahaha, no need, we’ve already eaten."
He dragged the sulking Naruto along, "Just find us a place to rest."
After they left the hall, the Great Toad Sage suddenly opened his eyes.
His large eyes glead with wisdom, showing none of the usual senility.
"Fukasaku," his aged voice sounded, "It seems the old acquaintances haven’t completely disappeared. Now, it’s ti to make a choice again, a choice concerning the survival of our species."
"Yes, Great Lord," Fukasaku bowed respectfully, "All of Mt. Myoboku’s mbers will follow your orders."
