Mount Ōeyama, Uchiha Residence.
The raucous banquet had lasted for seven days and seven nights, yet the youkai, whose perception of ti differed entirely from humans, showed no signs of exhaustion.
The great youkai continued to gather in the main hall, drinking without pause, while the lesser youkai frolicked and played in every corner of the sprawling estate.
anwhile, in a secluded chamber shielded from all noise, Kaito sat cross-legged, carefully studying a scroll left behind by Abe no Seii.
The Taizan Fukun Ritual—originally a secret Onmyōji art that exchanged one’s life for the resurrection of the dead—had been refined over generations by master Onmyōji, particularly by several geniuses in history. It had evolved into one of the most formidable secret arts in the Onmyōji tradition.
The modern Taizan Fukun Ritual no longer rely facilitated life-for-life resurrection; it had gained nurous powerful and practical applications.
However, with each refinent, the prerequisites and difficulty of mastering this art had also escalated—to an almost unimaginable degree.
Even with Kaito’s current spiritual power, he barely t the threshold to begin learning it.
Truth be told, Kaito’s innate talent as an Onmyōji was not exceptional. When his spiritual power first awakened in childhood, it was rely average.
Yet, in this world where even small animals possessed trace amounts of chakra, his status as a complete chakra insulator made him the sole candidate of his era.
Still, Kaito was well aware of his own advantages.
The Uchiha Clan’s Kekkei Genkai, the Sharingan, traced its origins to the Rinne-Sharingan born from Kaguya Ōtsutsuki after consuming the fruit of the God Tree.
This was a new power born from the fusion of the planet’s essence and the Ōtsutsuki Clan’s physique.
Within the shinobi power system, the Sharingan’s ocular techniques were classified as applications of Yin Release chakra.
In the chakra system, physical energy was Yang, while spiritual energy was Yin.
The reason Kaito—devoid of chakra—could awaken the Sharingan lay in the sheer strength of his spiritual power.
After arriving at Mount Ōeyama in his youth and inheriting its legacy, his spiritual power surged, and his ntal strength grew exponentially. Yet, a lingering dissatisfaction remained.
As an Uchiha, he harbored an innate obsession with the Sharingan.
Especially as an outlier within the Uchiha Clan, Kaito, upon gaining power during his rebellious teenage years, beca desperate to awaken his eyes—as if to prove sothing.
For a ti, he feverishly researched, attempting to unlock his Sharingan through Onmyōji thods.
In the end, it was Yūrei, a youkai, who snapped him out of it.
Upon hearing of his goal and witnessing his relentless, sleepless experintation, she remarked with genuine confusion:
"From what you’ve said, the Uchiha Clan’s Sharingan is an ability latent in their bloodline. Why are you trying to awaken it through such convoluted ans?"
"What do you an?"
At the ti, Kaito had no idea what she was getting at.
"It’s like the innate abilities we youkai possess—they’re inherent to our blood," Yūrei explained, even more puzzled by his struggle. "If it’s an innate talent, then you already have it. It should co naturally."
Though Yūrei’s perspective, based on youkai biology, wasn’t entirely accurate, it gave Kaito a crucial insight.
In that mont, he conceived what could be called the simplest, yet most arduous thod.
From childhood, he knew that the awakening of the Uchiha’s Sharingan was often triggered by intense emotional turmoil.
Powerful emotional surges typically accompanied profound ntal stimulation.
Having trained in ntal arts, he believed his spiritual power was already formidable.
Yet, even when he deliberately subjected himself to ntal shocks, his Sharingan refused to awaken.
The root of the problem lay in his eyes themselves.
The Sharingan was an ability inherited from Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and her eldest son, the Sage of Six Paths. Its activation required chakra as a foundational elent.
For Kaito to achieve the sa with spiritual power, he needed to fundantally alter his eyes.
His solution? To ceaselessly temper his eyes with spiritual energy, transforming them from organs adapted to chakra into vessels compatible with spiritual power.
Through relentless effort over ti, he succeeded.
’Perhaps I should thank my younger self for that stubborn fixation.’
He often reflected on this later.
Though different from the Yin Release chakra of shinobi, the eyes he cultivated—fueled by his imnse spiritual power—were in no way inferior to those of other Uchiha who wielded chakra.
In fact, as his ntal strength grew, his eyes evolved into the Mangekyō Sharingan without the risk of blindness from overuse—a flaw that plagued other Uchiha.
With his unique Sharingan, Kaito possessed an advantage no other Onmyōji could claim.
Beyond the innate abilities of the Sharingan, its greatest boon was the refinent and amplification of his spiritual power, making the manipulation of spiritual energy far more efficient.
In the dimly lit chamber, candlelight flickered as Kaito sat in ditation, thodically assessing his strengths.
Since awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan, his mastery of techniques had elevated by several tiers—not to ntion the unique abilities granted by the Mangekyō itself.
Whether it was Jikan no Hana and Jibaku—two formidable ocular techniques that distorted the target’s perception of ti—or the even more formidable Susanoo, all had lulled him into complacency.
Compared to the many Onmyōji arts ill-suited for combat, the Mangekyō Sharingan delivered pure, unadulterated power.
’Looking back now, I realize I lost myself sowhere along the way.’
Kaito lowered his gaze in contemplation.
And after successfully linking with Ryūmyaku, he dove headfirst into researching their applications.
The abilities he developed afterward were largely built around harnessing Ryūmyaku power.
Whether in battle or when setting up formations, he had grown utterly reliant on their augntation.
"I’ve truly put the cart before the horse."
Kaito murmured to himself, his fingers absently tracing the scroll in his hands.
Now that the grand sche was in motion, there might not be enough ti for gradual, thodical training.
He needed to resolve this issue swiftly.
His goal was to reach a state where his strength remained unaffected, no matter the environnt.
"Fortunately, I still have you."
Kaito suddenly spoke aloud.
Ripples of violet energy spread across the floor.
"Heh. A miscalculation, but a fortunate one."
An identical voice echoed through the chamber as Enma Daiō erged from the ripples, crowned and clad in white robes.
Save for his regalia, his appearance and voice were identical to Kaito’s.
Unlike the original Enma Daiō, his form was now the sa size as Kaito’s.
"This isn’t your true body, is it?"
Kaito studied him intently.
"Of course not. This is rely a wisp of my presence projected here."
Enma Daiō replied irritably.
"Do you have any idea how busy I am now? Even Madara and Izuna have been conscripted to assist in the underworld!"
