It was going to be botherso. Felix didn’t like it at all. But... He still had to be cautious about his behavior. He didn’t want to co out as too arrogant or rude. So, he forced the corners of his lips to go up again in a fake smile, as he said, "Oh, you shouldn’t have! There’s no need for you to bother with !"
"Nonsense!" Lyla waved her hand dismissively. "You’re a part of our... elite now, we should get to know each other better!"
She paused slightly before saying ’elite’, the tone of her voice changing, including a hint of mockery. A very subtle hint - one that she could easily argue was nothing but Felix being oversensitive and paranoid, but still clear enough for him to pick up on it. She was trying to insult him, but while avoiding getting caught by anyone else. It seed that she had learned from the last ti to be even more careful with her approach.
Well, it didn’t matter. She failed anyway. Felix didn’t see himself as the Bloodmoon Pack’s elite, nor did he have any interest in becoming a part of it. He only tried to act the part for Kade’s sake, as their reputations were partially tied at the mont. But there was no way he would feel insulted by any of Lyla’s insinuations.
He just maintained his smile, and responded, "That’s true. However, there’s no need for you to organize any events for my sake. We can just et up during the als, or have tea in the living room together."
"Oh, but that’s too boring!" Lyla pouted.
"That’s right, we don’t get a new mber join the pack every day, especially in the main mansion!" another chided in.
"Young Master Felix, please let us enjoy it more!" yet another exclaid.
Lyla’s face twitched, and she sent that last Oga a short glance, causing them to flinch. Although she was supporting Lyla as she was supposed to, calling Felix a ’Young Master’ was probably seen as out of line. Felix’s status shouldn’t be too accentuated, unless it was absolutely necessary!
It only lasted for a brief mont, though, before her normal fake smile returned.
"You see, we’re all very excited about it. Please let us enjoy it!" she turned back to Felix.
Felix was barely able to stop himself from rolling his eyes at this stupid show. Although he still didn’t know all that much about life in the Bloodmoon Pack, what he DID know was that most of the young, unmated Ogas from the high-ranking families had a lot of freedom in terms of what they wanted to do with their ti. Unless they were in education, or had any specific careers they wanted to pursue, be it within the pack, or even, in rare cases, outside of it, they had plenty of free ti on their hands, and it was almost entirely up to them how they chose to spend it. If they wanted to go out shopping in the city, they could. If they wanted to host tea parties, they could. If they wanted to have a spa day, that was also more than fine...
However, there must have been limits to what they were allowed to do. After all, no matter how rich the Bloodmoon Pack was, they couldn’t possibly allow all their mbers to squander through their public funds.
...Could it be that this was what they were after? To pressure Felix into using his status to spend insane amounts of money from the public funds, or from the Blackstones’ private accounts? As the mother of Kade’s pup, he might be eligible to do so... But if he took it too far, he might get in trouble with the leader and the Luna. Or at least, they would start to think less favorably of him, and put more restrictions on him. And, naturally, Felix’s chances of becoming the Luna in the future would also decrease. Not that he cared about that part, but...
"What do you have in mind?" he asked cautiously. No matter what it was, he should at least give Lyla’s ideas so consideration... Then, find a balance between what was still appropriate, but wouldn’t diminish his status.
Unexpectedly, though, Lyla announced with a smile, "I was thinking about holding a table tennis tournant!"
"...A table tennis tournant?" Felix repeated, dumbfounded. It sounded so... underwhelming.
"Yes! Just for the Ogas. Wouldn’t that be fun?" Lyla smiled widely.
For a while, Felix just observed her, not knowing what to think. He had expected Lyla to suggest they organize a fancy banquet. Or go on a shopping spree, buying luxury jewelry, or whatever else there was that the Ogas might be interested in and was super expensive. Or maybe go on a group holiday to a lush resort sowhere abroad...
But a table tennis tournant? It was almost too ordinary! The Bloodmoon Pack even had a table for table tennis already, so there would be no need to spend any money on it, aside from buying potential prizes!
Unless... The prize for the winner was supposed to be the trick there? Not to ntion, it could also be that Lyla decided to start with sothing so simple and harmless in order to lower Felix’s guard...
"Do you not like the idea?" Not getting any answer from Felix, Lyla asked with worry. "Oh... Could it be that you don’t know how to play?"
"...I have a rough idea," Felix answered, snapping out of it. "The tournant sounds nice. We can do this."
He didn’t sound particularly confident, which made a glint of satisfaction flash through Lyla’s eyes. If Felix were to guess, she was probably very skilled at table tennis... She must have been, otherwise, there was no way she would suggest such a tournant.
Well, that was fine. Felix didn’t care about winning. While it was true that he only had a ’rough idea’, as he hadn’t had all that many opportunities to play it before... His reflexes were good, and so was his speed, so even if he lost, at least he wouldn’t make a complete fool out of himself. And if Lyla thought that she could get one on him this way...
Then that was also good. If she could have her little triumph, then perhaps she might loosen up a little bit?
