Kade left shortly after Felix finished weighing all the ingredients. He naturally tried to extend his visit, inviting Felix to dinner and so on, but when the Oga refused, he didn’t whine too much or insist. He had spent a good few hours in Felix’s house, after all, so it was already good enough for his standards. And they would surely see each other soon, when the potions were ready to pick up.
"Are you still angry?" he just asked, turning back at the door. "About that rogue Beta incident."
Felix hesitated for a mont. "I... don’t know."
He really didn’t. It wasn’t THAT bad, all things considered, and there was a chance Kade hadn’t been involved... Fifty-fifty, he’d say. So, perhaps ’angry’ wasn’t the right word.
However. This whole incident served as a reminder to Felix. A reminder that Kade was powerful and had many resources, while he was only a rogue Oga. Kade could sche all he wanted, and all that Felix could do in response was to say, ’I’m angry, I don’t want to talk to you!’
No matter what, there would never be any serious consequences for Kade. Thus, Felix wanted to at least use that one and only card he had well.
He wanted to keep it up for as long as possible, but...
"Don’t you think you’ve ignored for long enough?" Kade whined. "Isn’t it about ti you start responding to my ssages?"
"...I need more ti to think it over."
"But I’m worried about you! You’re here alone with your pup, when you don’t even respond to , how am I supposed to know whether you’re alright or not?"
"I thought you said I would be safe with the witch by my side?" Felix pointed out, lifting his brows.
But Kade was undeterred. "From the outsiders, yes, but what if the witch bullies you?"
Sowhere from deep in the house, behind Felix’s back, ca a scoff, expressing how offended Remi was by the accusation.
And Felix also didn’t look convinced. He just stood there, staring at Kade, his arms crossed on his chest, and his brows lifted.
Worrying about the witch bullying Felix? It was nothing but an excuse!
Not that Kade was going to admit that. He only changed his approach a bit by suggesting, "If you don’t want to text back, how about texting with Fen? He was obviously not involved in any way in the incident, so you can’t possibly be angry at him, right?"
...If Felix were to ssage Fen, would Fen truly be the one to respond? He had so doubts about that. It was far more likely that it would just be Kade using Fen’s phone to chat with Felix...
Honestly, Felix had no idea what was going on through the Alpha’s head. Previously, there was the bond, so it was sowhat understandable. But now? Yes, Felix was pretty and attractive, but...
He was not the only attractive Oga around. Even he didn’t think he was worth this much effort. With Jared, it was a bit different - Felix was Wilder Embermane’s, the forr leader of the Moonhill Pack’s, son, so regardless of how he was treated in his pack, his bloodline was pretty much unmatched... But for Kade? He could have plenty of Ogas from even better families!
It simply didn’t make any sense. Was the Alpha simply so stubborn that he was bent on proving Felix wrong, that his feelings for him were more than just the pull of the fated bond?
Or was it because he couldn’t have him, which fueled his desire to win Felix over? Alphas often liked a challenge...
"Fine," he finally said, letting out a heavy sigh. "I’ll text you back sotis."
"Hmm?" Kade tilted his head. ", as in..."
"As in Kade Blackstone. What, do you have so sort of identity disorder?" Felix snapped.
If he were going to text with Kade, then he might as well do it openly, without pretending that he was ssaging soone else.
"Yay! Thank you!" Kade’s whole face imdiately lit up...
And before Felix realized what was going on, he was swept off his feet, and lifted in a tight embrace, as Kade was swirling him around.
"Hey!" he called out in protest.
"Sorry, sorry," Kade put him down, giving him one last good squeeze before letting go. "I was just so happy that I couldn’t control myself."
"That’s not good, you should work on that. How are you going to lead the pack in the future, if you can’t even control yourself?" Felix scoffed, shaking his head.
But Kade only smiled in response. "That’s why I need you by my side, to keep under control!"
"...That’s clearly not going to work."
"I beg to differ."
They stood like that, Kade flashing his teeth in a wide grin, while Felix wearing a scowl, even though his ears were reddened because of the hug, and he was feeling a bit lightheaded from the alluring sandalwood scent...
Until finally, Kade took a step back.
"I’ll be going now," he just said, stepping down from the porch. "Let know when the potions are ready!"
It wouldn’t do him any good to push Felix any further, as it could only backfire. He had already coaxed the Oga into agreeing to keep in touch with him again, so it was better to withdraw while he was ahead, lest Felix might change his mind again!
He got back into his fancy black sports car, and drove again, soon disappearing after taking a turn. Felix stared at the empty street for a mont...
Then, he let out a sigh, closed the door, and went to the kitchen. It was already pretty late, and he was starving, but he had yet to even start on the dinner! Perhaps he should have accepted Kade’s dinner offer...
No, he shouldn’t, he quickly corrected himself ntally, shaking his head to dismiss the thought. He wasn’t so hungry that he couldn’t wait half an hour until he whipped sothing quick!
It was only an hour or so later, when he got ready to go ’et the witch’... That is, to visit the witch’s house to talk to the witch, who was currently lounging around on his couch in his fox form, that he truly started regretting sending Kade off so quickly. Not that he started to miss the annoying Alpha’s presence so quickly...
But there were several large boxes full of jars on his floor. Boxes that he had to deliver to the witch’s house...
And there was no way they would all fit in his wheelbarrow.
It was a good thing that at least his house and the witch’s were so close...
