Felix’s heart seed to have stopped for a mont.

"W-what? My fox? What makes you think so?"

Kade lifted his brows, giving Felix a long look. "I have a nose, you know."

Right. Of course. Kade was also a werewolf. He had t the fox multiple tis, and slled his scent in Felix’s house, and he also had been at the witch’s house, potentially even coming inside and eting the witch personally to discuss the paynt for the treatnt... It would be weirder if he hadn’t connected the dots by now.

Felix pressed his lips, his eyes wandering around as his brain worked hard to co up with an excuse that would save both him and the witch from getting in trouble. After all, no matter how powerful the witch was, he wouldn’t be able to win against the whole Bloodmoon Pack... He might have been able to incapacitate Kade and the guards with the spell, but how many people could he enchant at a ti? If Kade dispatched a large team to deal with them... Then perhaps all that the witch might be able to do is run.

And what about Felix and Vivi? What would happen to them?

Of course, the witch had just saved their pack leader, and they still needed his help, so perhaps he was safe... But that wouldn’t necessarily be the sa for Felix...

"Why aren’t you answering?" Kade asked again.

To which Felix pressed his lips even tighter. Well, how could he just answer it, when revealing the truth to Kade could potentially...

Wait. Actually, what was between him and the witch? Remi slept in his bed, and cuddled with him a lot, yes, but it was always in his fox form. As for his human form... The only thing that ever happened was that light peck on the lips in the forest. As long as he skipped that, it wasn’t all that bad...

"We’re just roommates," Felix answered, clearing his throat.

"Roommates." Kade lifted his brows. "Am I really supposed to believe it?"

Felix shrugged his shoulders in response. "Whether you believe it or not, that’s up to you. But this is the truth."

"I’ve seen him climb under your shirt. And he snatched food from your fork. He’s so clingy with you that his scent sticks to you all the ti..."

"He’s clingy, yes, but only as a fox. He’s pretending to be my ’pet’. He never transforms when he’s with , I can only et him in his human form when I visit the witch’s house to request his services. And he still tries to pretend that he and my fox aren’t the sa person."

For a while, Kade stared at Felix in silence, still doubtful. Not necessarily because he thought Felix was lying to him - the Oga seed honest enough - but rather... He had a hunch that the witch saw his cute little forr-future mate as more than just a roommate or assistant. Alpha’s instinct.

Questioning Felix any further was unlikely to get him anywhere, though, so eventually, he let out a sigh. "If you say so. There’s just one more thing I need to know."

"...Yes?" Felix asked reluctantly, his guard all up.

"Our deal is still on, right?"

Felix blinked a few tis. "Our deal?"

"What we agreed on before I left Silverfall. That after the two years are up, I will be able to court you again."

"Right," Felix sighed. "That thing. I think it’s still too early to talk about it..."

"...What do you an by that?" Kade’s voice dropped dangerously, causing Felix to flinch. He quickly rushed to defend himself,

"Nothing! Nothing, really! It’s just that it’s still so far away, that I feel like it’s pointless to discuss it now. You might still change your mind about , or you might et your new fated mate... Right, how was this year’s mating season? Did you have fun?"

The ’mating season’ for werewolves was when a lot of parties, banquets, and other events were held among the packs, aid at the young wolves who had reached maturity, but had yet to find their mate, to mingle among themselves. It was a good way to strengthen the bonds between packs, as well as increasing the chances of young werewolves finding their fated mates. Unlike the wolves’ mating season, which happened between late winter and early spring, the werewolves held their mating events in the sumr. This was because many of the most eligible young wolves from the influential packs pursued higher education at human colleges and universities. Sumr break was when they had the most free ti, and since they were the most desirable potential mates, the events were mostly catered toward them.

And as an unmated heir to one of the supre packs, Kade was bound to receive plenty of invitations. He had never ntioned anything to Felix, but it was unlikely that he hadn’t attended at least a few of them, particularly the high-profile ones hosted by the supre packs. It simply wouldn’t be considered appropriate. Other supre packs might feel offended, and as they were just as powerful as the Bloodmoon Pack, they couldn’t just be ignored.

And sure enough, Kade averted his gaze, caught off guard by Felix’s question. The official mating season ended over a month ago, so why was he asking about that now? Sure, they haven’t been in touch through most of that ti, but...

But there wasn’t anything for him to feel guilty about, now that he thought about it. He was forced to attend due to his identity... Besides, wasn’t it Felix’s fault that he was still unmated? If his cute little future mate hadn’t been so bent on rejecting him, they could have been together by now, and Kade wouldn’t have to deal with all those other Ogas coming at him!

"Well," he shrugged his shoulders. "It was the sa as always."

Felix didn’t quite know what ’the sa as always’ ant, as he had never attended, but that wasn’t what interested him the most. "So did any Ogas catch your interest?" he asked.

Kade paused for a mont, pondering over it. Not over the Ogas he had t, of course, but just about how to respond. Should he try to spark so jealousy in Felix...?

In the end, though, he decided that it could only backfire, so he answered honestly, "No, not a single one."

"Well, that’s a sha."

Kade’s eyes twitched at Felix’s words, but he managed to maintain his composure. "What can I do? My heart had already been stolen by a certain Oga..."

"My condolences for that person."

They stared at each other for a minute in silence. Felix thought that the Alpha would try to drag this bickering further...

But no. Kade just asked once again, "So our agreent?"

"...Naturally, it still stands. But I can’t promise you-"

"Anything. Yes, yes, I know," Kade heaved a heavy sigh. "That’s fine for now, I just want you to give a chance to win you over."

He was confident in himself. Although their relationship had been rocky right from the start, they had already went a long way. With enough ti, and the right approach, Felix would eventually lt, Kade was sure of it.

"I have to go now. I will let you know when I have the ingredients..."

Before Kade even finished the sentence, the front door was already wide open, a fake polite smile plastered all over Felix’s face. "Alright, Young Master Kade."
