"Alright," Felix sighed into the phone. "You have five minutes. Explain yourself."
"Five minutes? That’s too little!" Kade whined. "Wouldn’t it be better to take our ti to explain things properly? So that there are no more-"
"Then get to the point," Felix snapped, interrupting Kade. Actually, those five minutes, he was just saying it. He didn’t set up a tir or anything. Even if the conversation took ten, or fifteen, or twenty minutes, he had no intention to disconnect, not unless Kade were to start spewing nonsense, since he also wanted the situation explained. The only reason why he was rushing Kade, was because he hoped the Alpha would be under pressure. If he were lying, the chances he would slip up and accidentally reveal the truth were higher this way.
"Alright, alright," Kade’s tone imdiately grew more serious. Only to falter a mont later, "But... I truly don’t know what you are talking about."
"Wait, wait, wait, don’t disconnect!" he quickly added, as he had heard nothing but ominous silence on Felix’s end of the line. "Can you explain to what exactly happened?"
"...Are you serious?"
"Yes. You ntioned so rogue Beta I supposedly paid to follow you?"
Felix let out a heavy sigh. Was Kade really clueless, or just playing dumb? Regardless, they wouldn’t get anywhere talking back and forth like that, so he explained, "Rember a few months ago, in early March I think, I was once in my wolf form and night, and so random Beta wolf followed ? You ca as we were facing each other, got out of the car, and transford, without even bothering to take off your suit."
"Yes, there was sothing like that. And what about it?" Kade still seed confused - or pretended to be - so Felix continued with his explanations,
"Well, I t him again the other day. In human form this ti."
"...What? Are you okay?" Kade asked, clearly worried. Except, worried about what? Felix or his secret sches getting discovered? "Should I send the guards back to-"
"And he told that you were the one to pay him to do it."
"...What?"
"Or to be precise, one of your guards did. But your guards couldn’t possibly take any action without your approval, now could they?"
"This..." Kade hesitated. He couldn’t exactly say that they could. Those were his most trusted guards, how could they possibly pull sothing like that? And not long after one of them made a huge mistake by neglecting his duty. Back then, they were all working hard, following his orders to the T.
But he still insisted, "I’ve never even heard of it. How did you even find out? You ran into him, and he suddenly told you everything? I’m sorry, it’s not that I don’t believe you, but that’s just... There’s sothing odd about it, don’t you think?"
Felix sighed, shaking his head. As expected, getting the truth out of Kade wouldn’t be easy. Perhaps if he could use that truth spell on him as well... But he didn’t want to see him, and shouldn’t see him, not yet, not anyti soon, so that wasn’t an option.
"Felix? Like I said, I’m not doubting your words, but there must be-"
"He didn’t JUST TELL ," Felix snapped, interrupting Kade once again. "When I first ran into him, he tried to deny everything. I made him confess under a spell."
"...You did WHAT?" Kade’s voice dropped a few tones lower, sending shivers down Felix spine. He gripped the phone tighter, and continued, speaking slowly as he tried his best to sound calm,
"I waited for him at his house, then had the witch cast a spell on him that caused him to grow weaker, dragged him to the woods, and interrogated him with the help of another spell that forced him to reveal the truth. Then he told it was your guard that paid him to do that." Felix paused for a mont, before adding, "Or, well, he didn’t say it was your guard. Just a blond Beta with the Bloodmoon Pack’s emblem on his tie."
"Did he say it was our emblem for sure?"
"Yes. He didn’t know what it was at first, but we showed him the picture," or, well, an illusion, but that was basically the sa thing, "and he recognized it, confirming that that was the emblem the Beta had on his tie."
"We?" Kade’s voice dropped even lower, turning into growl. He quickly reflected himself though - he was the one being interrogated here, he should play nice and not be swayed by his emotions, no matter how displeasing that word seed - and cleared his throat, restoring his voice back to normal. "You said blond Beta. It was Lucas, then?"
To that, Felix remained silent. Yes, it must have been Lucas. Out of the two guards that had been stationed in Silverfall around that ti, only Lucas was blond. The other guard, Drew, had dark hair, almost black, was a bit shorter, but stockier, and had a long scar across his face. It was hard to confuse the two. But, obvious as the answer was, Felix didn’t want to be the one to say it out loud... Since Lucas was bound to get in trouble now. If he had really done it on his own accord, then that would be one thing... But what if he had just been following Kade’s orders? And now would take the fall to hide his master’s wrongdoings...
Whether he said it or not, it wouldn’t change anything at this point, but Felix couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable about it. Who knew how Kade would deal with this possibly innocent man?
"Felix," Kade spoke again, interrupting the silence, his voice soft and coaxing. "It really wasn’t . I had nothing to do with it."
"Hmm."
"I swear it on the moon."
"...Then how co you showed up so conveniently to save from trouble?"
"Because the guard who was on duty called . He told that you were being followed by so unknown wolf, and I should co as soon as possible."
"Hmm." Felix only humd in response. Kade’s answer made sense, yes, but he was still not convinced...
"I will interrogate Lucas as soon as possible, and give you the answers, I promise. But..." Kade hesitated for a mont, before asking, "Don’t you think it’s weird that you suddenly found him now, after all this ti?"
