Arc 2, Chapter 36 — Decided Ranks.
.
.
"Now then," Old man Zen’s voice dripped with a chilling calmness. "As common sense has finally returned to you all... let’s begin the eting."
He then turned to look at Sayoko who’s cheeks were fully stuffed with sweets like a chipmunk.
It was fascinating that when facing the group collectively, he looked as fighting as a Buddha. But when facing the little cute girl, his entire deanor changed into a bubbly one.
"So, Sayoko, what news do you have for Grandpa?"
"Ah–"
Sayoko patted her chest heavily, swallowing the sweets in a haste. "Grampa Order Chief, Sayoko will begin now."
"Sayoko is happy to say that this year, we have a total of 27 who chose to stay back and fight. And coupled with the others from our nearby Examination Facilities, we have a total of 153 BLOODREN Tens."
{**Bloodren was a Title. There are titles below the Bloodren Title. However, only those from Bloodren rank above are truly recognized}
{***One starts at Bloodren Ten and ascends to Bloodren Zero, before they can graduate to the higher class Ranks... all the way up to Departnt heads.***}
The little girl continued—"As for those who passed but decided not to fight, they’ll be Half-Ten’s. I made super, super sure of it."
The little girl was proud.
"Well done, Sayoko." Old man Zen praised.
Fighters... Those who can face these vampires squarely, are those they’re focused on.
Those who chose to fight despite passing the examinations, can only be dent to one of the 3 Major Departnts:
—Departnt 1 (Intelligence),
—Departnt 3 (Security),
—Departnt 4 (Battle & Retrieval).
And wouldn’t you know it? Departnt 1, was Roud’s departnt.
Ever since Roud and Gaara beca Departnt heads, they’ve been like cat and mouse, always at each others’ necks.
The real issue was that Roud did as he liked, interfering with Gaara’s jurisdiction severally.
Gather Intel and report back. How hard can it be? Why do you always take on the Departnt 4’s job?
Are you looking for a fight or sothing?
It’s understanding to fight when discovered during scouting.
But many tis, it seems like they’re trying to get discovered on purpose so they can fight the enemy all by themselves. And many tis, this doesn’t end well, giving Departnt 4 more work than required.
Till date, the ss Roud made in sector 53 soti back, was still sothing Gaara had sleepless nights over.
As for Departnt 3, that was security, controlled by Clovis.
All in all, these Bloodren Tens and Half-Ten’s who passed, will get distributed among Departnts 1, 3, and 4.
As for the rest, they will join the other departnts.
...
"That’s all." Sayoko took her seat happily, after getting praise from the old man Zen.
"Now then, on to serious matters."
Zen’s aura changed again.
"Reports from the Order of the Blue Chain just ca in."
The Blue Chain was another Order, a far away place far away from them, led by the old hag, Agatha Constintle. Many also call it the Blue Nuns, since they were mostly won in that Order.
"There was a mass attack on a territory too close to ho."
An attack on an Order’s territory?
Clovis tilted his head mockingly. "In other words, their positions are most likely compromised, no?"
"Hmm..." Old man Zen nodded. "That’s what we presu."
However, there was sothing more shadowy in his heart.
Everyone also thought the sa.
These vampires should not be so stupid as to attack any order, due to how vast an ORDER’S size was.
Yet, they did... Boldly too.
So the big question now was why: Why Did They Do It?
There’s sothing off about the matter.
Or could this be the start of the next Crusade?
"For now, the Hillgarons have ordered imdiate assistance if anything goes wrong."
"We... Order 3, are to be the 2nd responders if anything else goes wrong at the Blue Chains."
Old man Zen’s orders were obsolete, sinking into their heads, though no one showed any reaction.
"I’ll be leaving for headquarters in a few days..." The old man slowly rose to his feet, sweeping his gaze across their faces. "Keep order in check, and train the new in-takes well."
Walking with one hand behind his back and a staff for ’assistance,’ he still continued—
"That goes for you too, Roud... They might be little fish in comparison to whales, but... even fishes know how to fight back when cornered!"
.
.
Several nights flew by, as did many morning suns.
"SON OF A FISH!"
Several people rose up from pain with twisted expressions.
"Where am I?"
"Was everything before just a dream?"
"Damn, I rember falling... falling...Ahhh!"
Many touched their bodies and cried rrily.
Alive! Alive!
Yes, that’s right.
These people celebrating were those who ’died’ in various ways.
Fufu~
Who said that those who failed, would necessarily die?
Alive!
They were thrilled.
Many were so happy they hugged each, but not before getting angry at those who ’killed them’ off.
"It’s YOU! So after committing murder, you still ’died’ in the end?"
Heh-heh-heh~
"Our days will be long, and you and I can never see eye to eye!"
Many were so pissed, but still felt the joy of being alive.
However, it won’t take long for them to wish they truly died.
Pray tell, what was the main difference between passing these tests and failing?—Freedom.
They’ll now be sent to either one of these departnts: Departnts 2, 5, 6, or 7.
—And within these departnts, they will only be permitted to leave this place for missions outside when they reach Bloodren 4.
Are you kidding them?
Those who fail, start off 15 underground ranking levels Below Bloodren 10.
That alone, takes years and years to accomplish.
So reach it when they’re 50, while others when they’re 100.
By that ti, they would have been trained like dogs, wagging their tails at their jobs, knowing only this.
As for those who pass who are sent into departnts 1, 3, and 4, they can go out on missions anyti, no matter how new they were.
However, it was a rule that all new Bloodren 10s must complete Phase 2 of their training before they begin mission taking.
So you see... It was funny how happy these failures were about their survival.
Soon, each and everyone one of them will find a single word to describe their current lives—HELL.
