Arc 2, Chapter 132 — A Cunning Bastard!

.

.

This guy ans BUSINESS.

Redclar appeared, and many were once again drawn to his abnormal eyebrows that curved in a spiral manner between his eyes.

His expression was as haughty and arrogant as ever, clearly showing his hatred for Shugo.

Hmph! He scoffed.

"Look here, newbie... Last ti, you were ONLY able to pull that shit because I took pity on you. But this ti, I swear I’ll have you praying and begging for rcy by the end!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Shugo rolled his eyes with an innocent smile. "Whatever makes you sleep well at night."

"YOU!!!—"

It seed Shugo had a knack for annoying Redclar. He knew just the right buttons to press in making this guy explode furiously.

Bone-crackling laughter escaped from the crowd’s lips as they watched the two head to the stage.

Shugo vs Redclar.

It kicked off in a flash the mont the Host gave the signal.

Reclar in his fury, took fluid steps and unleashed his Lance shard with a nacing arc.

~TING!

The clash between Shugo’s Fork and his lance bellowed across the space. The result was that Shugo was back further than Redclar.

There was no donut that Redclar had the upper hand here.

Shugo’s eyelids drooped, as the match between the two comnced. They exchanged attacks for over 9 minutes, vanishing and reappearing at various places.

No... sothing wasn’t right.

’What is he up to?’

Levon noticed that since the beginning, Shugo hasn’t launched a single attack—It was all defense. Still, his buddy took quite a few big hits from Redclar.

One must be crippled, blind, or crazy not to see the obvious viciousness in Redclar’s heart.

Sparks flew with every collision, illuminating Redclar’s fierce expression.

"C’mon now? What’s the matter? Too chicken to fight back?" Redclar’s arrogance grew more than before.

Shugo was on the ground, twisting and rolling on the ground from the pushback.

Hmph!

Reclar sneered, plunging into the like a rocket.

"Fact is, it’s always the hasty and overconfident punks like you... who overestimate themselves, thinking they’re too great."

~Boom!

Shugo rolled fast, before another attack plunged.

"There’s no use running. We have the sa Shard rank and class. And I’m guaranteeing you now, that there’s no way you are STRONGER than I!"

Redclar’s arrogant words echoed across the space. And the crowd couldn’t agree more.

"He’s right. They’re equally matched in Shard rank and class. The only true difference between them is technique and strength."

"Hey, the Fatso is gotta be no match for Redclar who has been here longer. What’s more, he’s coming on way more viciously than his previous match."

"Ghufufufufufuf~... I reckon it’s on account of the last issue between the two. After all, if I was in his shoes, I’d probably do the sa."

The crowd around Levon discussed as the match continued.

Levon didn’t show it, but little nonexistent claws had begun clawing at his heart when seeing Shugo’s difficulty.

Still, sothing told him that Shuigo wasn’t so defenseless.

.

.

Tick-Tock. Tick-Tock.

The clock was ticking. And before everyone knew it, there were ONLY 4 minutes more to go.

Many had already concluded on the match, feeling a little bored to watch a one-sided match.

What do you call a match where one side attacks and one side only defends?

A match is truly ’sweet’ when both parties attack.

Many had conclusions in their hearts. But just then... Shugo’s temperant changed.

’This guy.’ Levon saw it.

Shugo’s eyes were burning with determination, as his body began rippling like a mirage.

What the hell? Redclar didn’t expect Shugo’s movents, taking several steps back to the left.

TOO LATE!

Everything happened in slow motion, as he threw his head behind his shoulders, only to see the Fatso’s body floating mid-air.

Boom!

Many in the audience stood.

"Reclar has fallen!"

"How Naughty! I get it now. All this ti of only defense, this Shugo guy has been waiting for the right opportunity to strike!"

It all happened in a blur.

Shugo had combined his speed and power into a single devastating move that sent Reclar rolling on the ground like a tumbleweed.

Just a bit more and Redclar would have rolled out of the ’Line’, automatically disqualifying himself.

But as the tumbleweed rolled, a hand stretched out from it, and a lance plunged into the ground, stopping its roll before it was too late."

Redclar recovered and couldn’t believe it.

This bastard was still trying to trick him out of the LINE.

What a scary future it would have been to still remain in Bloodren 10.

’This guts strikes like a wolf. Patient for the hunt. Who knows what other tricks he has up his sleeve?’

...

~Cah-Pui!

Redclar spat blood in one big chunk.

They exchanged punches, kicks, and Shard attacks, allowing the loud sounds of impact echo throughout the space.

A layer of sweat built up on Redclar’s back.

’I can’t be careless anymore. I only have a minute and a half at most. So long as I dont cross the LINE and wit it out, I’ll be qualified to step into Phase 2.’

What a tricky bastard.

Redclar muttered all this in his heart, cautiously attacking the conniving Shugo with vigilance.

Despite his beaten up and disadvantageous appearance, Shugo maintained an unbothered smile, and a chewing mouth that always had a treat to munch on.

It’s just that, as the match was getting closer and closer to a halt, Shugo’s grin also got creepier and creepier.

Then, he pranced towards Reclar, twirling his Sharded fork in the air and using the rotational montum to visit in the air.

Like a choopper’s propellers, he flew forward. And as expected, Redclar in turn, prepared to counterattack.

But no one expected that when Shugo was in close proximity, he would actually open his mouth towards Reclar.

Unfortunately, Redclar rotated on his axis quickly.

POISON!

This realization made Redclar and many dumbfounded.

"Poison? This guy carries poison with him?"

The Bloodren 10s who have been in the entrance examination and lived in the sa mansion as Shugo, were quick to point out that all snacks he ate were poisonous.

Hiiss~

"This guy must now be immune to all sorts of poisons, right?"

Everything was happening too fast. And soon, the Host raised a hand.

"Call!—Redclar Wins!"

....

"Way to go, Shugo!"

Leo exclaid, cupping his hands on his mouth like a microphone.

In a place where hardly anyone cheered or boo-ed, it wasn’t so easy for Shugo to make out the listener’s words. It was thanks to the silence that Leo’s voice echoed loudly.

Artilla was clapping rrily, and Levon gave a thumbs up.

Although Shugo lost, his ability to defend and stay inside the battle ring for the entire ti was impressive.

If anything, it speaks louder volus about Redclar who couldn’t even push out a newbie after staying back for one year.

Even Redclar knew that his victory wasn’t one to be celebrated.

He had sworn last ti that Shugo would say no longer than 3 minutes in their next match. So isn’t this a direct slap in the face?

Redclar’s face turned distorted when going through the match in his mind.

Everything was just a slap on the face to him, especially since Shugo had almost pushed him out of the Line 4 tis in the last 4 minutes.

If Levon was told to describe Shugo’s battle style, he would say—Cunning and shaless.

Anything goes for Shugo.

So long as the rules don’t say anything about it, Shugo will always have a trick up his sleeve.

Don’t forget that Shugo was also a Poison Master.

You just never want to go against such people.

Levon recalled how Shugo would hoard all sorts of poisons located in this place.

Even the poisonous plants in their estate’s yards were devoured daily in small doses by Shugo.

Lvon didn’t understand how he did it, but after chewing poisonous snacks or plants, Shugo could swallow these items but isolate and select the ones he chose to keep him in his mouth for attacks like what he just did.

"What a dangerous Bloodren."

"His cunningness and resourcefulness is uncanny. Of course, if this guy goes against , none of these tricks of his would ever work."

"True... I would definitely not fall prey to any of his sches. How can I be like that worthless Redclar who couldn’t even push a newbie out?"

There goes the bragging.

Many in the audience massaged their chins thoughtfully when staring at Shugo’s fading silhouette.

Was this guy’s thods unconventional? But could it get the job done? He probably could.

With Shugo and Redclar off the stage, the next battle comnced.

The Battle was intense.

Levon enjoyed watching despite not knowing the fighter’s personally. After this, things progressed faster, but more entertaining.

Ti really flew too fast for anyone to react. Probably because they were enjoying themselves.

—And soon, it was ti for Battle 8 to comnce:

Rolo vs Lilian!
