Chapter 653: Start of the Chaos?
Unlike some may think, behind Marionette’s confident facade was a woman fearful of the world around her.
No matter how many inhumane actions she had mitted, Marionette still retained her humanity. Despite the expectations of being a perfect assassin, Marionette had definitely fallen short of her father’s expectations.
She was a flawed individual.
People may envy her beauty, strength, and abilities, but sometimes they forget that she was still a person. And as a person, she was as flawed as one could be.
Because of that…
‘I don’t want her to dislike me…’
Marionette feared rejection and abandonment, like anyone else, and losing Lillian would undoubtedly leave an everlasting scar on her soul.
“I… truly am the failure of my batch…” Marionette sighed in self-deprecation before raising her head to look up at the ceiling. After a moment of silence, she added, “What would you have done in my place, dear sister…?”
Not long after she said this, Marionette froze at the sound of Lillian’s voice.
“MARIONETTE!”
Immediately scrambling to look around the corner again, she watched as Lillian called out for her.
“When I find you, I’m going to force-feed you my blood! Even if I have to slit my wrist or tie you down, you’re drinking my blood!”
Marionette widened her eyes a little, ‘She’s still determined to feed me her blood?’
“And after all this is over, we’re going to have another dance, and I’ll be sure to never let you out of my sight ever again!”
‘A dance? She still wants to dance with me after what just happened? And to never leave her sight, doesn’t that mean she still want me to be around her?’ Marionette felt her heart race a little, an inexplicable warmth spreading throughout her body.
Her eyes then wrinkled, ‘But why… Even after I hurt her feelings and even doubted her love, she still wants me?’
Marionette wanted to ask Lillian why, but she still couldn’t muster enough courage. However, as if Lillian was able to telepathetically connect to her thoughts—
“Do you know why?!”
—Marionette soon got her answer.
“It’s because I love you—!”
“Oh, shut up with all the shouting!”
Marionette instinctively pulled her head back behind the corner. Ignoring Damien’s presence, Marionette immediately placed a hand over her chest.
The rhythmic beating inside her chest…
‘It sped up.’
Marionette felt like her heart could burst out of her chest at any given moment.
“She…”
‘She still loves me.’
A beautiful and heartfelt smile appeared across Marionette’s lips. Even her eyes seemed to smile out of pure joy. Any evidence of her gloominess vanished instantly.
The inexplicable warmth inside Marionette bloomed into inexplicable happiness. But at the same time, the guilt from earlier weighed even heavier on her shoulders.
‘I can still salvage things between us.’
Her mistake, her doubt, her fears, her relationship. Marionette could still fix everything that had just happened!
‘I must get to her and apologise!’
Quickly getting up to her feet, Marionette prepared to move out from behind the corner. However, the moment she decided to take a step out, a large centipede with red eyes and a body covered in darkness leapt from the wall parallel to her.
It slammed into her body and into a puddle of darkness, effectively kidnapping her.

[Ding! You have a new quest!]
[Quest Name: Put the Dog Down]
[pletion Requirements: Kill Damien Von Darkhound]
[Description: The youngest and prodigious son of the Darkhound family has lived and terrorised every woman he could get his hands on. As one of the key players for the fated war in the future, it is imperative that he dies today.]
[Reward: Assimilation with the Darkhound’s unique regenerative ability, 50,000 TP]
[Do you accept? Yes or No.]
Lillian widened her eyes, ‘A quest!’
It had been a while since she had a quest. The most recent quest she could recall was to learn every technique of the Deep Sea Hunter from Nearlo.
‘The assimilation of the Darkhound’s regenerative ability…’ Lillian felt her heart quicken.
Lillian was already unkillable enough with Parasitic Element. But if she got her hands on this reward, her survivability would be through the roof!
‘I’ll be actually unkillable…’
Lillian was already planning on killing Damien, and this quest only solidified her resolve to do so. With a reward like this and the Threatrail Points on top, there was absolutely no reason for her to decline!
[You have accepted the quest: Put the Dog Down]
“Hmph, to think that woman was into other women…” Damien snarled in disgust, “And to think it was you, no wonder she gave me such trouble in previous loops.”
Ignoring the last bit of his sentence, Lillian snorted. Whilst pulling her hands out of her pockets, she asked, “What? Have an issue with our relationship, manwhore?”
“Manwhore, huh? You aren’t the first to say that.” Damien muttered, unbothered by the ment, “To answer you question, yes. I do have a problem with you kind of people.”
His face scrunched up, as though he contracted a case of nausea.
“The only purpose of women in life is to give birth. Even if our technology and magic has advanced enough to bridge this issue, it is still wrong in every sense.” Damien paused for half a second, “And what kind of pleasure could two women produce in bed as opposed to men?”
Lillian nonchalantly fixed her tie, appearing to be unaffected by Damien’s misogynistic words.
“Not sure, I never slept with a man before. So, I can’t give an accurate parison.” The girl then smirked a little, giggling, “But I can definitely say, after the kind of performance Marionette gave me last night, I’m certain I wouldn’t ever have to think of such a scenario. Not like I was ever going to~…”
“Haaah!?” Damien shouted, “You slept with the Lady of Roses?!”
The veins on Damien’s face bulged a little. His voice dipped in rage, but also subtle envy. “You wretched moner! You dare mingle with someone of a higher class, such audacity! Don’t think that just because you’re a higher Tier than her that you can casually bridge the gap between status!”
“Isn’t that how noble families got their status? Because of their strength?” Lillian’s smirk turned mocking.
“Tch, we nobles got our status because of achievements—!” Damien paused and breathed out a sigh, calming himself. “No matter, you must just be her stress-reliever. It’s mon for us nobles to take out our sexual frustrations on servants. And for someone like Miss Marionette, who bottles up her emotions, she must accumulate a lot of frustration.”
“Stress-reliever?” Lillian raised an eyebrow.
Holding her chin, Lillian thought for a moment before making a smug look, “I suppose I am. By going off of yesterday, I think I do quite a decent job of being a stress-reliever.”
Damien’s eyes narrowed.
“What are you trying to pull?”
Lillian smirked as she placed a hand against the side of her cheek. Then, like a maiden-in-love, the girl continued to ramble with a fierce blush, “Oh, I’m just talking about how good Marionette is in bed~… Did you know our first time only happened just a few days ago? Since then, Marionette had learned all sorts of techniques in such a short amount of time~…”
Damien could feel the veins in his face popping, and his blood pressure skyrocketing.
The Rabbit sensed Damien’s bubbling rage and immediately felt the need to add more to the fire.
Turning away bashfully, Lillian whispered:
“It’s such a shame, really. That no one will be able to experience what it would be like to be in bed with such a perfect woman like Marionette…” Lillian then slowly turned back around with a mocking grin, “All because she belongs to me~… But I’m sure someone as amiable as you, Sir Damien, wouldn’t mind if I keep her all to myself~…”
“YOU BITCH…!”
Damien was seething. If this were a cartoon, the viewers would be able to find hot steam blowing out of his ears.
The young Darkhound had many dreams, one of which was claiming the purity of the beautiful young lady of Roselles. It was a dream he thought to be unattainable, especially given his past actions that spoiled the relationship between their family.
‘But to think this shitty moner…’
Not only had she managed to attain his dream for herself, but she even had the gall to rub it in his face! IT WAS UNFORGIVABLE!
Summoning a silver blade in his left hand, he bent his knees.
“I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU YOUR PLACE!”
Watching as Damien blasted towards her with a fierce look on his face, Lillian readied herself, but only after falling into momentary thought.
‘Since Damien is here, he must’ve injected Albrecht with the Chysalis Serum. By now, something big must be happening back in the ballroom.’
Despite knowing that several dozen lives were at stake, Lillian’s heart was calm and serene. It was because she knew everything would be alright.
‘I’m counting on you, Millis.’
