The next day soon arrived, and so was the day they would finally go on to hunt down the Boss of the Trial—an entity that, once defeated, would allow them to escape back to the real world.

"Are you sure we could do it today?" Lillian asked, braving through the harrowing darkness with her trusty lantern in hand that continued to burn and light the way.

Once they had awoken, they imdiately made their way outside of the room where the tree resided after having breakfast.

Lillian was still uncertain whether or not they could actually find the monster. After all, if they couldn't today, then that would an they would have to eat into tomorrow's ti, which is when they would begin lessons.

Anxiety grew inside Lillian's heart, bashing against it and crawling all over like a hive of bees. She was soon comforted with a slender hand being placed on her shoulder.

Looking over her shoulder, she saw Marionette holding out a tal canteen towards her. It was the Purified Quench. Lillian raised an eyebrow before hearing her words.

"Drink. You'll co down a bit after."

"Is that so... alright..."

Lillian reached for the polished tal canteen, popping off the cap with her thumb and watched it dangled by a small slim chain, clinking with the sides of the Purified Quench.

She then brought its mouth to her lips, tilted it up, and tasted the delicious water coming out of it, flowing down her throat.

After taking one last gulp, she stared curiously at the Purified Quench, thinking back to its origin and its creation.

A normal tal canteen used to hold a limited amount of water—now capable of holding possibly even an ocean amount within due to a now deceased water spirit.

'Spirits are quite hard to kill due to their ever-changing body capable of dodging and enduring probably even the harshest of attacks...' she then thought back to a certain part in its description.

"The warrior fought it for 3 days and 4 nights, eventually coming out on top."

'He battled it for nearly four days straight... just because it poisoned the body of water and refused him the hospitality of drinking from it.'

A smirk then broke out on Lillian's face as a certain phrase that would perfectly describe the warrior, going by what the description said was true.

'He was definitely a crash out. It was a valid one, though, I suppose, but stuffing a water spirit inside this thing was one hell of a way to get back at it.'

Lillian passed the Purified Quench back to Marionette, watching as she scrutinised it before turning her head to the side.

Marionette stared deeply off to the distance, bringing the mouth of the tal canteen to her lips and drinking it before sealing it back with the cap and placing it back inside her spacial storage.

She then turned back around to see Lillian staring at her with a deadpan expression.

Lillian, with an equally deadpan voice, said:

"You're definitely doing this on purpose now."

Marionette tilted her head to the side, confused by Lillian's odd accusation of sothing.

"Hm? May you perhaps clarify what you're talking about?"

Lillian stared at her with a suspicious eye before sighing, "Never mind..."

Marionette raised an eyebrow at her, "Okay...?" she said, drawing out the word with a confused tone.

"What were you looking at anyway?"

"Hm? Wait a few seconds..."

"Huh... what are we waiting fo—"

From the black curtains that are in darkness, a Catacomb Brawler erged from it, followed by two Dwellers by its side, running at them at high speed before freezing at the sight of them.

The five then looked at each other.

However, their interaction soon ended short, for with a narrow of Marionette's eyes, their bodies were then suddenly skewered on a long, dark pike.

Lillian watched as they stubbornly tried to remove themselves from their respective pike before having more appear from the ground, piercing and shattering through their heads.

Brain matter and blood rained over the ground, barely reaching the two beautiful won.

"So easy..." Lillian muttered with a sigh.

What took Lillian several minutes to do took Marionette just a few seconds. And that was when she wasn't serious.

She then noticed Marionette staring at her with an odd look.

Marionette stared at her silently before asking:

"You look disappointed. Why? Was my performance unsatisfactory?"

"Huh? What? Of course not. Very satisfactory..."

"Then why are you disappointed? Was I perhaps ant to torture them before killing them?" Marionette asked with a tilt of her head, not at all bothered by what she had just said.

"HUH!? Why would I want that?!"

Marionette shrugged, "How about you tell what I want to know?"

"Well, I..." Lillian paused for a mont, thinking deeply about her next words. Should she just wave it off dismissively and stop wasting ti so they could figure out where the Boss was?

"Do you think soone as untalented as would be able to reach your strength any ti soon?"

Marionette narrowed her eyes.

"Untalented, you say? In my opinion, Lillian, you are far from being considered untalented. I'd say you're the third most talented person I know. And that says a lot considering how many missions I've been sent on to where I would et countless talented people."

"But... shouldn't soone that was talented be able to learn things super quickly and win at everything they do? I an... through every spar we've had, I had yet to land even sothing as little as a scratch on you."

"What you consider the aning of being "talented" is rely just a stereotype created by people who were weak as a ans to bla those stronger than them."

"Then... what is talent?"

Marionette stared at her deeply—her eyes darkening as she thought about Lillian's question. She turned her head up to the sky. Silent. And still. Much more still than before.

"There's this fairytale I always think back to when it cos to questions like these..."
