"Unfortunately," he said, sounding almost apologetic, "you’re going to have to put your little murder plan on hold."

I frowned at him but didn’t speak as I studied him.

’Why would he protect Damian?’

He didn’t look like the loyal type. He looked like the type who’d sell soone for entertainnt value.

He grinned wider, clearly enjoying the confusion flickering across my face.

"You see," he continued casually, "I stole his scroll."

My brows pulled together.

"And used it instead of him."

"...What?"

For a second, the world felt off-balance.

That wasn’t right.

That wasn’t how this was supposed to go.

Damian was supposed to be here. He was supposed to enter this platform at this exact point in the story.

This deviation—

It was because of this man.

"You know," he went on, tapping his temple thoughtfully, "his scroll. The gold one? Very flashy. Very important-looking that I couldn’t resist and stole it from him."

He leaned forward slightly, eyes gleaming. "I even got a new skill because of it. Want to show you?"

He sounded like an excited child showing off a new toy.

I stared at him for a long second then slowly withdrew my daggers.

One by one, they disappeared into my inventory then I turned my back on him.

"Oh," I said flatly. "Well. Never mind then."

No Damian.

No target.

No imdiate reason to stay here.

Because of this guy, I missed my window.

But it’s fine.

Damian would enter the Gateway of Wish again eventually.

And when he did—

I’d kill him there.

"Goodbye—"

The word barely left my mouth when every instinct I had scread at once.

Sothing small, sharp, and fast. Cutting through the air toward the back of my head.

In that split second, my brain split into two clear choices.

Option one:

Let it hit m die, and respawn.

No consequences—assuming we were still in the respawn window.

Option two:

Deflect it, counter and eliminate whoever thought I was an easy target.

I chose option two.

My head snapped sharply to the right, my body twisting with the motion. The projectile was already visible in my peripheral vision—a narrow dagger, spinning with lethal precision aiming the back of my skull.

Easy.

Too easy.

I summoned my daggers mid-turn and hurled them toward the origin point rather than the weapon itself.

The instant they left my hand, they multiplied—splitting midair into a lethal fan of steel, each blade duplicating into several more.

A tallic bloom of blades fanned outward toward the origin point.

North.

A strange, twisted tree stood there—its bark warped like lted wax, branches curling unnaturally.

That’s where it ca from.

The dagger I intercepted clattered harmlessly to the ground.

My multiplied blades, however—

Found their mark.

A scream tore through the jungle.

Sothing heavy crashed from the tree, branches snapping as a body fell and hit the forest floor with a dull, final thud.

Silence followed as I lowered my arm slowly.

The man beside hadn’t moved.

He hadn’t interfered.

Hadn’t warned.

Hadn’t reacted.

He simply watched.

A mont later—

The fallen body dissolved into particles.

Respawn.

So we were still within the unlimited window here.

Good to know.

I glanced at him sideways as my daggers obediently returned to my hands, hovering for a second before slipping back into my grip.

"Care to explain?" I asked coolly.

He chuckled softly, like this was a pleasant afternoon chat instead of attempted murder. "I simply got amazed by how fast your reaction ti is that I forgot to speak."

I stared at him.

He really expected that to pass as an explanation.

"A friend of yours?" I asked.

"Companion," he corrected lightly. "She must’ve gotten angry. She likes Damian a lot, you see."

Ah.

That explained the cheap assassination attempt.

"She’s a fool then," I said without hesitation.

He didn’t argue.

Instead, he gave a small shrug. "Sorry. I only told her to stand by and watch."

"If you’re going to feel sorry about sothing," I said with a faint smile, "you shouldn’t do it in the first place, right?"

I slid the Jester’s Mask back over my face.

His expression shifted.

The playful glint disappeared completely this ti. His eyes hardening as a suffocating pressure rolled off him without warning.

Bloodlust.

Not the playful, testing kind.

The real kind.

"I guess you’re right," he said quietly.

The air around us grew heavier.

He stared at as if reassessing sothing fundantal. "I shouldn’t do sothing if I’m going to feel sorry about it..."

Then—

His body began to turn transparent.

At first, I thought it was a trick of the light filtering through the jungle canopy.

But no.

He was literally turning into a ghost.

Seriously.

What is this man’s ability?

There was no ntion of sothing like this in the original setting. No character profile. No hidden Chapter. No side note.

Was it because he was too strong?

Or because he was never ant to exist here in the first place?

"Yeah... my bad," he murmured to himself. "My bad that she’s a fool for trying to kill you while we’re still in the unlimited respawn window..."

He started laughing like a maniac then he suddenly dissolved.

"What the—"

No.

He didn’t turn into air since I could still barely see him.

Faint blue specks shimred where his body had been, like scattered mana dust suspended in the air.

He was moving slowly enough that I could track the shifting cluster of blue particles weaving between trees.

I threw my daggers instantly.

They sliced through the shimring cloud but it only passed through.

’Useless.’

Tch.

’Fine.’

If physical attacks didn’t work then I need to activate my Spectral Seal.

A faint pulse rippled from my body as I summoned a dagger again, this ti channeling the seal’s effect into the blade.

"Let’s see you slip through this," I muttered.

I hurled it straight at the densest cluster of blue specks.

This ti, it made contact.

A sharp, wet sound split the air.

The shimring particles snapped inward violently, collapsing back into solid form.

The man’s body materialized mid-step and I saw my dagger was lodged cleanly in his leg.

He dropped to one knee, hand catching himself on the ground. He looked down at the blade in his thigh then up at .

And instead of anger—

He smiled.

"You really are interesting," he said, almost breathless as blood began to seep through his pants.

I didn’t lower my guard.

"Stay still," I warned.

"Oh?" he tilted his head slightly. "Or what?"

I summoned the rest of my daggers again. They hovered at my sides, tips angled toward him. "Or I’ll make sure you don’t get back up before this respawn window ends."

[Admin Seraphiel of the First Platform is watching you.]

The notification slid across my vision just in ti to feel a gaze coldly watching . A faint chill crawled down my spine.

In the distance, the man exhaled sharply and pushed himself upright despite the dagger still embedded in his leg.

"It’s not easy having my Gift restricted," he muttered, wincing as he shifted his weight. "Fine. You’re the strongest player here. Fuck... my leg hurts so much I can’t even move properly."

I raised a brow behind my mask. What did he an, ’can’t move properly’?

He was already standing, bleeding, and talking like a parrot.

What was he planning to do next—crawl dramatically across the dirt?

"Maybe I should’ve bought so daggers too, even though they’re for child’s play." He clicked his tongue irritably. "Can’t help it since my weapon is so damn heavy I can’t even hold it yet."

anwhile, my thoughts drifted back to the alert. It’s not a warning and just... observation.

Which ant I wasn’t breaking rules.

Yet.

I shrugged lightly.

If the Admin was watching, then so be it.

I focused my gaze on the man as he limped—very dramatically—toward the woman I had pinned earlier.

She lay several ters away, crumpled against the roots of a massive tree where she respawned, still unconscious from shock or pain, I guess.

"You’re not even going to try stopping ?" he asked casually over his shoulder.

"I’m watching," I replied.

He reached her side and crouched with visible difficulty. His injured leg trembled under his weight.

"Vifrepo," he whispered.

The ground beneath him tremored violently.

Mana surged downward like water being forced through a narrow pipe. A circular sigil flared faintly at his feet, lines forming intricate geotric patterns before vanishing just as quickly.

A transparent do erupted from beneath his feet, expanding outward and sealing both of them inside in an instant. The surface shimred faintly, like reinforced glass layered with spatial distortion.

"...?" I narrowed my eyes.

"This is the skill I chose," he said, tapping lightly on the inside of the barrier. The do humd softly under his touch. "Interesting, isn’t it?"

"Teleportation?" I guessed.

He tilted his head. "So your scroll was gold too, huh?"

I didn’t answer that. Instead, I smiled faintly under the Jester’s Mask. "I’m glad you chose that skill."

His grin widened. "Why? Because it’s aweso?"

"Because it’s trash."

His brow twitched.

I didn’t give him ti to process it as I activated Spectral Seal at full output and hurled my daggers.

I needed to kill him before he completed whatever channeling that do required.
