The pet-related topic that Kaori had casually brought up turned out, in a sense, to be a landmine. Kaito absolutely doted on his pets, Bellfreed and Lindwurm, and when it ca to pet-related subjects, his level of enthusiasm was on an entirely different plane.
That said, unlike a certain God who would talk nonstop in such overwhelming volu that it felt like being crushed, Kaito still retained enough rationality to consider the other person’s circumstances.
This ti as well, he didn’t go on so long that it ate into their movie-watching ti. If one were to asure it purely by length, Kaito’s talk about his particular obsessions, such as Bellfreed’s coat texture, wasn’t actually all that long.
However, the intensity was sothing else entirely…… In any case, you could keenly feel just how overwhelming his fixation was. Even though he was speaking in a perfectly normal manner, there was sothing almost oppressive about it.

Granted, her passion probably didn’t reach the sa level as Kaito’s did with his pets, but since Kaori herself had plenty of particular preferences when it ca to cooking, there were parts she could sympathize with.

After lightly waving to Bellfreed and Lindwurm, Kaori went inside the house together with Kaito. As they walked down the hallway, their conversation about the pets continued.
That said, it was just ordinary small talk, not the kind of discussion that would send Kaito’s enthusiasm skyrocketing again.

In truth, Bellfreed viewed Kaito as sothing like a father figure and Alice as a mother figure, and around the two of them, she behaved just like a child, clinging to them with all her might.
Especially with Alice, there was no need for restraint, so she would literally go all out…… using power that could turn not only an ordinary person but even an average monster into minceat in an instant. Still, to Alice, it was no more troubleso than a kitten playfully pawing at her, so she handled it without any issue.
[Alice is surprisingly good at taking care of others, you know. It seems she plays with Bell quite often. Because of that, Bell listens to Alice more than anyone else after . Lynn, on the other hand, is friendly with just about anyone…… though lately, she’s been talking to Nebula a lot.]

[Well, that’s the thing. With Frea-san…… errr, Nidzveld-san, one of the Dragon King’s subordinates, her magical wavelengths co across to as normal conversation. But with Lynn’s, I can sort of grasp the general feeling, but it’s not that clear-cut…… I think it’s because Lynn is still a child, so her ability to convey intent through magical wavelengths isn’t as refined as Frea-san’s yet. Once she grows more, I think I’ll be able to understand her clearly.]

Lindwurm was still very much a young child. While her total magic power was quite large, partly due to the influence of her diet, her ability to communicate through magical wavelengths was still immature, very much a case of waiting for her to grow.

Having dug her own grave in the most unexpected way, Kaori could only watch Kaito launch into another enthusiastic explanation with a wry smile.
(But still, seeing him like this makes him feel like a cute kouhai, no matter how far outside common sense he might be sotis…… When you look at it that way…… maybe this isn’t so bad either.)
