The first perforr in the hidden talent contest was, to everyone's surprise, Olivia-san. The atmosphere in the venue rippled with confusion and unease, and understandably so. She didn't exactly give off the kind of image that would suggest she'd participate in sothing like this, and no one even knew if she had a hidden talent to begin with.
However, Olivia-san had recently shown increasing curiosity about various things compared to when I first t her, and she had actually been trying out new experiences. So, it wasn't impossible she had picked up so sort of special skill along the way.
Also, given that she was going first, it seed more likely that she was participating at Alice's request rather than having entered of her own accord.
"....That's really unexpected. I an, is Olirin even okay ability-wise in this world?"
"Ah, this world has been adjusted so that Olivia-san can use her abilities just like she can in the Friendship City. Also, I forgot to ntion earlier, but each performance is limited to 5 minutes. It's totally fine to end earlier, but if the ti goes over 5 minutes, the act will be forcibly ended, so please be careful with ti managent"
"I see..... But seriously, what's Olirin even going to do?"
I shared the sa curiosity as Fate-san. Just what kind of hidden talent could Olivia-san possibly be about to reveal?
As I wondered that, sothing large and square...... like a block of marble suddenly appeared behind Olivia-san on stage. Standing in front of the marble block, she gave a small bow and spoke into the Loudspeaker Magic Tool on stage.
"I am Olivia, Founder of the Godism Church and city representative of the Friendship City Hikari. It is an imasurable honor to present an entertainnt act in the presence of the great Shallow Vernal-sama and Miyama Kaito-sama. Though I am but an unworthy vessel, I offer the faith that dwells within my heart.... to Shallow Vernal-sama and Miyama Kaito-sama."
With that, she took on a posture of prayer, then retrieved a chisel and mallet, the kind used in sculpture. The tools glead with a color that suggested they were made of orichalcum. Olivia-san quietly raised them into position, then turned toward the massive block of stone, and in the next mont, began carving into it with astonishing speed.
It was as if I were watching a tilapse video, pieces of the marble shaved away at a breathtaking pace, transforming its shape. What erged was a ceremonial prayer bell used in the Godism Church..... along with a relief carved beside it depicting Shiro-san and standing close together.
The quality was absolutely astounding. The fine details of our clothing were perfectly rendered, and the sculpture of Shiro-san and holding hands before the prayer bell, all in white marble, radiated a certain sacred aura.
"Whoa..... Olirin, that's amazing! She had a talent like that?"
"Yes, well.... it might sound obvious in hindsight, but apparently she wanted to offer prayers to Kaito-san. And since no statues or reliefs existed for such a purpose, she decided to make them herself. Being the epito of seriousness, she trained until she reached that level of skill, by locking herself in a ti-manipulated subspace and practicing endlessly."
To think she actually practiced making her own religious tools, that's the kind of dedication you'd expect from soone whose faith is all too real..... Now that I think about it, during our previous date, she had shown deep interest in a decorative prayer bell, so maybe that was when she got the idea to craft her own. And with her personality, she must've gone all-in on the training......
Having completed the sculpture in a flash, Olivia-san once again offered a brief prayer, then turned to us and bowed gracefully.
"And there you have it. Olivia-san's hidden talent was sculpting! Now then, let's have the judges give their scores!"
The judging began, but really, the surprise alone was enough for to raise the full 5-point card without hesitation. Chronois-san, Kuro, Lilia-san, and Canalis-san all raised their 5-point cards as well, resulting in a perfect score right from the opening act.
"Oh! And right off the bat, we've got a perfect score! Truly, the surprise factor and the contrast made for a striking performance. Since we've got the chance, let's hear a few words from Shallow Vernal-sama herself, who also happened to be the motif of the sculpture..... Shallow Vernal- sama, do you have any comnts?"
When Alice turned the spotlight to Shiro-san, Olivia-san, still on stage, visibly tensed. It was clear she hadn't been the least bit concerned about the scores. What mattered to her wasn't how the judges rated her, it was how Shiro-san and I would receive it.
....it's a beautiful sculpture. Let's display it sowhere prominent in the castle. I especially appreciate the depiction of Kaito and holding hands, it's a lovely touch. Olivia, excellent work.]
"!? I am unworthy of such praise. To receive those words from you, Shallow Vernal-sama..... it feels as if my entire existence has been rewarded. Please accept my deepest, most heartfelt gratitude.....
Shiro-san was full of praise, nodding with clear satisfaction. And for soone like Olivia-san, whose faith ran so deep, this was the highest reward she could ask for. Tears stread down her face as she knelt on stage, offering a prayer to Shiro-san.
U- Unn, well, I guess it's good that Olivia-san looks so genuinely happy.
That said, sothing's been bugging ...... If Olivia-san made that sculpture because she didn't have a proper tool to offer prayers to ...... Then does that an..... sowhere in the Central Cathedral..... there might already be a statue of ......? N- Nope. Not going to think about it.
Serious-senpai : [As expected of a true faith fanatic...... she actually acquired sculpting skills just to make her own statue to pray to. And not just that..... think about it. If she was going to sculpt Kaito and Shiro, there's no way she'd settle for anything half-baked. She probably trained for an absurd number of years in a ti-manipulated space or sothing.....]
