The rush of adrenaline started to wear off. Adam’s breathing gradually returned to normal as he stood in the quiet, destroyed kitchen. He glanced down at the two n at his feet who were unconscious.

Once assets, they are now important information sources. He could not afford to allow them to resurface as threats.

There was a new purpose to his movents. His hands were guided by the techniques he had learned from the assassins he had slain. He was aware of what to do. He conducted a professional search of them.

First he took away their weapons. Boot-sheathed knives and a small, ankle-strapped hold-out pistol. Then he looked around for other gadgets. Anything that might jeopardize his position is tracked by communication equipnt.

Near the sofa in the living room, he discovered their abandoned pistol—the one he had fired from the desk. He took it up. All he could do was shake his head slightly.

For a professional, leaving his main weapon so far out of reach was a novice mistake. They had paid a heavy price for their error.

He proceeded to the dining room after disarming them. Two heavy wooden chairs were dragged back into the kitchen by him. One by one, he dragged the unconscious bodies into the chairs.

In a utility closet, he discovered a coil of rope. He secured them firmly to the chairs. He was careful to make sure there was no room for error or way out.

He used the knots that he was unaware he was familiar with, his hands moving with a natural skill.

He filled a bowl with cold water from the kitchen sink after he was sure they were safe. He made his way back to the two n in chains. He flung the water in their faces.

The cold water was a sudden shock. Their bodies trembled against the ropes as they coughed and sputtered. They opened their eyes.

The first person to wake up was the one who had been cleaning his gun at the table. We will refer to him as Assassin Four. His eyes were wild with confusion as he looked around.

Adam was standing in front of him. The ropes that bound him to the chair were visible to him. His perplexity turned into a raging wrath.

The second assassin the one who had been cooking woke up a mont later. Assassin Five. He took in the scene with a chilling calm. He looked at his partner then at Adam. He understood the situation instantly. A flicker of surprise crossed his face but it was quickly replaced by a cold analytical gaze. He knew they had been captured by their target.

"You’re dead kid" Assassin Four snarled his voice a low guttural growl. He strained against the ropes his face turning red with the effort. "You have no idea what you’ve just done."

Adam just stood there watching him. He said nothing. His silence was more unnerving than any threat. He let the man’s rage wash over him a wave breaking against a stone wall.

Assassin Five smiled. It was a cold humorless expression. He didn’t even look at his partner. "Shut up Four" he said his voice calm and steady.

Assassin Four turned his head to look at his partner his eyes wide with disbelief. "What? Are you crazy? He’s just a kid. A kid who got lucky."

Assassin Five finally looked at his partner. His eyes were hard as ice. "Don’t you get it?" he asked his voice dripping with condescending pity.

"There’s a hundred-million-dollar bounty on his head. Does that sound like a normal kid to you? Weren’t you the one just complaining that our three partners were taking too long? Use your brain."

The words hit Assassin Four like a physical blow. The color drained from his face. He looked from his partner to Adam. He saw the calm unwavering gaze of the boy standing before them.

The pieces clicked into place in his mind. The massive bounty. The missing Alpha Team. The impossible skill of the boy who had taken them both down in seconds. The truth was terrifying. This was no ordinary kid. This was a monster.

Assassin Five turned his attention back to Adam. The cold smile was still on his face. He looked at Adam with a newfound respect a professional’s appreciation for a worthy opponent.

"So you killed them" he said. It wasn’t a question. It was a statent. "Our three partners. I’m right aren’t I?"

Assassin Four’s eyes widened in horror. He stared at his partner then back at Adam waiting for the answer that he already knew was coming.

The silence stretched for a long mont. Adam finally spoke. His voice was quiet devoid of any emotion.

"You’re right" he said. "They’re all dead."

It is true that Adam had already dealt with three assassins despite using a lot of loops, but he was by himself and had to save an entire family—three professional assassins with guns who were fully prepared to murder Adam and Sophia’s family.

Adam is still in high school, which is an accomplishnt they do not fully understand at the mont, and he still finished second in both of them.

However, they will soon realize how much more dangerous Adam is for all of them.
