Between Clouds and Waters.

Nathan Firth swirled his glass in front of him, an inscrutable smile on his face.

Compared to Nathan Firth’s air of nonchalance, Vinny Linnel was quite agitated, even her voice was filled with unrest.

"Mr. Firth, you just said you’d help , how exactly will you help?"

Nathan Firth put down his glass, a slight curve appearing at the corner of his lips: "I accidentally found Durrell Landon’s elder brother Zeke Landon, I can hand him over to you."

Vinny Linnel was a bit skeptical: "Did you really catch him? Or did you just find him by chance?"

Nathan Firth lured her slowly: "What do you think? The process isn’t important, the result is."

Vinny Linnel was sowhat persuaded, Durrell Landon’s divorce papers had been signed for several days, yet he hadn’t ntioned a word about getting engaged to her, leaving her a bit uneasy, fearing any sudden changes.

She glanced at Nathan Firth: "The terms!"

"I don’t believe you’d give up the person so easily."

Nathan Firth’s expression remained unhurried: "As I said, helping you is also helping myself, after all, I don’t want these two to have any chance of reconciliation."

Vinny Linnel still found it hard to believe, but she indeed needed an opportunity to make Durrell Landon owe her a favor.

...

Three days later.

Vinny Linnel dressed herself carefully, even applied a makeup that mimicked a natural look, and arranged to et Durrell Landon at Between Clouds and Waters.

When Durrell Landon arrived, he simply sat across from her, not speaking, his deep dark eyes rely observing her, as if studying her, or perhaps just indifferently looking at her.

After a while, he finally spoke:

"Did you really find my brother?"

Vinny Linnel felt a mont of tension, her delicate fingers instinctively tightened around her dress, Durrell Landon’s gaze seed to pierce through her.

But this feeling lasted only a mont, quickly disappearing, she feigned a relaxed tone and spoke:

"If I hadn’t found him, would I be bringing this up with you?"

Durrell Landon held an imperceptible cold smile at the corner of his lips:

"What are your conditions?"

Vinny Linnel’s eyes held a hint of amusent:

"Helping one’s fiancé, what conditions could there be?"

Durrell Landon remained silent, just quietly staring at her.

This deep and unreadable deanor made Vinny Linnel slightly unnerved by Durrell Landon’s gaze, she cleared her throat:

"I did think of one condition, we haven’t had a al together, how about accompanying for dinner tonight?"

Durrell Landon leaned back slightly after hearing this, his tone playful: "Alright."

Seeing Durrell Landon agree, Vinny Linnel imdiately instructed the staff at Between Clouds and Waters to serve the dishes, oh, and also to bring a candelabrum.

After the staff laid out the dishes and lit the candles, she instructed them to leave, telling them not to enter without orders.

Durrell Landon’s gaze remained focused on the candelabrum, seeing this, Vinny Linnel showed a hint of grievance on her face: "If you don’t like candlelit dinners, I can take the candles away."

Durrell Landon withdrew his gaze: "No need. After the al, you must tell exactly where the person is."

Vinny Linnel laughed: "Of course."

After drinking a few glasses of alcohol, Vinny Linnel put down her glass and hesitantly spoke: "Durrell, once your brother returns to the Landon Family, will you get engaged to ?"

Without waiting for his answer, Durrell Landon suddenly sensed an unusual feeling spread through his body, seemingly incredulous: "Did you actually drug ?"

Even though he was sure Vinny Linnel wouldn’t hand over his brother easily, he hadn’t expected she would resort to drugging.

And he was usually very sensitive to tastes, yet neither the drink nor the food had any peculiar taste.

Suddenly, his gaze fell on the candelabrum, "Did you mix the drug in the candles?"

Vinny Linnel too felt her blood raging wildly, in truth, she was on the verge of collapse, but still stood firm: "You have remarkable resistance, an ordinary person wouldn’t last three minutes, yet you took fifteen minutes to react."

She had thought it through, if Durrell Landon didn’t agree to get engaged, as long as she had Durrell Landon’s child, the White Family would stand by her.

After saying this, she tried to touch Durrell Landon, her fingertips barely grazed his clothes when he forcefully pushed her away, his face deeply displeased:

"Are you that desperate for a man?"

Vinny Linnel accidentally collided with a chair, coming to a brief mont of clarity:

"Durrell, this isn’t so ordinary aphrodisiac powder, it’s a forbidden drug, you can’t just endure it, if you don’t touch you will die."

He indeed felt his blood boiling throughout his body, seemingly ready to consu his sanity at any mont.

Suddenly his gaze landed on the steak knife in front of him, without thinking, he plunged it into his shoulder.

Vinny Linnel stared wide-eyed at this scene, the splattered blood landing on her face, slling the scent of blood, a hint of nausea, but more so a sense of humiliation.

To have a man who prefers self-harm to maintain clarity rather than touch you was an enormous insult to her.

Durrell Landon clutched his injured shoulder, the imnse pain continuously stimulating his nerves, bringing fleeting monts of clarity, at this point he had no ti to deal with the disbelieving Vinny Linnel, stumbling toward the room’s exit.

He struggled into the elevator, pressed the button for the minus two level, and leaned weakly against the elevator wall, wondering if he would die from the burst of ridians or first from excessive bleeding.

Once the elevator stopped, Durrell Landon forced himself to maintain the last shred of clarity, he called Charles Foote:

"Knight Tamworth, did you find my brother?"

Charles Foote: "We found him during Nathan Firth’s transfer, Durrell’s brother is already on his way back to Capital City, we’ve waited so long for this opportunity, perhaps we should thank Miss Linnel and Nathan Firth for their deal."

"Good to know he’s found."

Durrell Landon’s voice was unnaturally hoarse, Charles Foote listened and slightly furrowed his brow:

"Durrell, your voice sounds off, is sothing wrong?"

"It’s nothing."

Upon finishing his words, he hung up the phone.

At this mont he stopped in front of a car, staring at it intently.

His eyes were dark and fiery, like a beast just unsheathed.

Inside the car, Quiana Sutton kept one hand on the steering wheel, looking at Durrell Landon standing not far away, feeling a complex array of emotions.

Did she and Durrell Landon have such a fateful connection?

Although Between Clouds and Waters was a place for dining, it was indeed too coincidental.

The last single she collaborated on with Axius Sorville had a good reception, Grace Sutton recomnded she collaborate on a full album this ti with Axius Sorville.

In recent days, aside from filming, she’d been writing music in the crew, just recently divorced from Durrell Landon, her mood was terribly bad, writing songs at a speed tenfold faster than before.

She finished an entire album within three days.

After filming today, she sent it over to Axius Sorville, never expecting to encounter Durrell Landon upon leaving.
