Quiana Sutton couldn’t even be bothered to look at her: "When did I ever need to report to you about looking for him? Get out of my way."
Charlotte Sutton remained motionless, her eyes filled with mockery as she looked at Quiana: "Have you finally realized that no one in this world loves you, so you’ve co back to cling to Nathan? Let tell you, Nathan and I are already engaged. You’ll never have a chance."
Without a second thought, Quiana delivered a slap, the force so strong that Charlotte staggered and almost couldn’t stand upright.
Once she steadied herself, Charlotte touched her reddened, burning cheek, full of disbelief: "You actually dared to hit ?"
Quiana didn’t even glance at her, her eyes devoid of any ripple: "I dare to hit Nathan Firth, let alone you."
"What are you doing?"
Nathan Firth seed to have just finished bathing, his hair still wet, wearing only a dark robe with sleeves that were too long; he walked while rolling up his sleeves, his deanor elegant and composed.
Upon seeing Nathan, Charlotte showed him her cheek, full of grievance, "Nathan, she hit ."
Nathan didn’t even lift an eyelid: "Give her a knife and she could kill , let alone slap you."
Charlotte: "..."
Just as she was about to speak, Nathan spoke first: "Go inside first."
"But—"
Nathan’s voice turned stern.
"Go inside."
Hearing this tone, Charlotte knew Nathan was definitely angry. She didn’t have the courage to defy him and could only obediently walk back inside, though she looked back with increasing hatred each ti.
Quiana only found it laughable.
After Charlotte went inside, Nathan’s gaze fell on Quiana’s face, the corners of his lips carried a barely noticeable hint of amusent:
"It’s quite the surprise you’d actually co looking for ."
Just monts ago, Northmount had said she was looking for him. He didn’t even have ti to put on clothes, just threw on a robe and ca out.
She didn’t waste words with him, directly saying: "I have sothing to say to you."
Then she opened a video on her phone, paused on an image where Livia stopped by Durrell Landon’s crashed plane.
"I want to ask you, did you send Livia to tamper with the Landon Family’s private plane?"
Hearing Quiana’s question, the faint smile on Nathan’s lips froze on his face.
"What if I did?"
Nathan suddenly pressed closer, grabbing her waist, pinching her chin, forcing her to et his eyes: "I’m very angry that you ca to for him."
"Now not only do I want the Landon Family destroyed, but I also want Durrell Landon to suffer a fate worse than death."
Quiana stared into Nathan’s eyes, like whirlpools, knowing he definitely ant what he said.
She tried to break free from his grip, but his hand was like an iron shackle, not allowing her to move an inch. Instead, he held her tighter, his voice carrying a trace of displeasure:
"I taught you everything you know; do you think you can defy ?"
Quiana slightly frowned, "If you don’t want history to repeat, let go."
Her voice was calm and unwavering, yet it made Nathan’s heart skip a beat.
He absolutely couldn’t allow her to beco a cold corpse before him.
Slowly releasing his grip on her, his face remained grim:
"Since Durrell is going to divorce you, his affairs are no longer your concern. Don’t co to about his matters anymore, or I’ll be even angrier."
After saying this, he swung his robe and went back inside.
From a distance, Charlotte saw Nathan’s completely different attitude towards Quiana and bit her lip, a trace of venom in her gaze.
Inside the house, the smile Nathan had when hearing Quiana was there was long gone, replaced by a stormy, sharp deanor.
Northmount and the others didn’t dare make a sound.
Without waiting for a reaction, Nathan had already walked up to Livia and gave him a harsh slap.
"Do you realize you were caught on cara?"
Livia widened his eyes, quickly dropping to one knee: "Master, it’s my fault. Please punish ."
In Charlotte’s eyes, Nathan suddenly becoming so angry, even planning to punish Livia, one of the four guardians, was only because of Quiana’s arrival and her saying sothing she shouldn’t have.
She couldn’t stand Quiana easily stirring Nathan’s emotions.
She approached, holding Nathan’s arm gently: "Livia didn’t an to, Nathan. Don’t be mad."
Livia gave her a grateful look.
Nathan shook off her hand, his gaze falling on Charlotte’s face, expression indifferent:
"If you want to stay and play in Capital City for a few days, you can stay here temporarily. If you don’t, I’ll send you back to the Sutton Estate tomorrow."
Upon hearing Nathan wanted to send her back, Charlotte imdiately panicked.
Finally, with the significant rift between Quiana and Nathan both now in Capital City, she couldn’t let them return to how things used to be.
She pleaded softly, "Nathan, I really missed you. I don’t want to go back."
Nathan didn’t force her: "If you don’t want to go back, then continue staying. I’ll have Tide look after you."
After saying this, he prepared to return to his room.
Seeing Nathan about to head back to his room, Charlotte instinctively rushed forward and hugged his waist.
"Nathan, since we’re already engaged, why don’t we stay together tonight?"
Without a second thought, Nathan pried her hands away, his eyes covered with a thin frost, his presence exuding a chilling air.
"You should know better than anyone why I ever touched you.
If it weren’t for you wearing her clothes and dressing like her, plus my mistaken identity from being drunk, how could I have touched you?
And you seem to have forgotten one thing; my fiancée from the Sutton Family is the eldest daughter, Charlotte. The na Charlotte is just a title. You can be Charlotte, or soone else can be Charlotte. If you want to remain as my fiancée, you’d better be smart and please the old man, lest you’re no longer the eldest daughter, Charlotte."
With that, "Bang—" he slamd the door and returned to his room.
Leaving Charlotte alone, stunned in place.
Simultaneously, a poison of bitterness and hatred gnawed at her heart. Though she enjoyed her grandfather’s endless favor, she ultimately wasn’t biologically part of the Sutton family. It was like a deeply embedded thorn in her heart.
Who says blood ties can decide everything when she is clearly her grandfather’s favorite granddaughter?
Everything of the Sutton’s should be hers; Nathan should be hers, too. She would never allow anyone to take them away.
