...

Han Zhijin had just turned onto the road leading to the Han Family’s old residence when he saw, through the windshield, Lu Yangui standing under a streetlamp a few dozen ters away.

Without thinking, Han Zhijin stepped on the brake and stopped the car. He looked at his mother through the window for a long ti before he stepped on the gas again.

The car ca to a steady stop in front of Lu Yangui. Through the glass, Lu Yangui looked at her son sitting in the car, her eyes tense and fearful, hesitating for a long ti, not daring to approach.

Seeing his mother like this made Han Zhijin both distressed and angry. He turned his head away, seemingly indifferent for quite a while, before finally opening the door and getting out of the car.

He walked around the front of the car, heading toward Lu Yangui.

As she watched her son approach, tears again fell from Lu Yangui’s swollen, red eyes, "Zhijin, Mom knows she did wrong... Please, don’t be mad or ignore Mom. I’ll go and apologize to your uncle tomorrow. I’ll take responsibility for all the wrongs, okay?"

Lu Yangui ca from a good background and was learned and sensible. Her speech and behavior were always asured. This was the first ti Han Zhijin had heard his mother speak to anyone with such a pitiful, pleading tone. It made his eyes sting with sourness, and he couldn’t help but interrupt her frantic words, "I’ve already seen my uncle..."

Lu Yangui froze, then after a while, she asked in a tone as if she couldn’t believe she heard right, "You’ve seen Jingnian?"

"Yes, I’ve seen my uncle already, and I’ve confessed everything to him..."

Lu Yangui’s face drained of color. Her lips trembled violently, and her expression mixed nervousness with panic. She opened her mouth several tis but couldn’t make a sound.

Han Zhijin knew what his mother wanted to ask and didn’t play coy, quickly continuing, "My uncle said, only this once."

"Only this once?" Lu Yangui didn’t dare believe it, she was in shock for a long while before asking with a trembling voice, "Did your uncle really say that? He doesn’t resent ? He..."

"My uncle was very angry, he definitely was very angry. He smashed his study; he threw a lot, a lot of things at , but... nothing hit ..."

After hearing Han Zhijin’s words, Lu Yangui understood everything. Tears fell from the corners of her eyes like pearls off a string, "I was wrong, I didn’t trust them too much... I... I forgot that we’re family..."

"It’s not you who wronged her, it’s all of us who wronged her..." Han Zhijin pressed his lips together, "My aunt can’t get pregnant because soone drugged her, not because there was sothing wrong with her... it’s because of our Han Family..."

Lu Yangui’s body trembled, and she took two steps back, nearly losing her balance and falling to the ground.

She didn’t know, not about this. She thought it was just an inability to conceive, that it was natural, she...

Han Zhijin watched his mother weep and took a step forward, then pulled out a tissue and handed it to her.

Lu Yangui’s fingers trembled as she took the tissue and started wiping away her tears. It wasn’t long before the tissue was soaked through.

"Okay, don’t cry..." Han Zhijin reached out and gently began patting Lu Yangui’s back. He waited until Lu Yangui had cald down before speaking again, "Mom, you can’t be like this anymore. This really has to be the last ti, okay?"
