But she was the mother who gave birth to him and raised him; he could not simply disregard her.
Han Zhijin’s lips moved slightly as he repeated the palest three words once again, "I’m sorry."
"Uncle, I’m really very sorry..."
Another tear rolled down the corner of Han Zhijin’s eye.
Looking at the teardrop that fell to the floor beside his feet, Han Jingnian stayed silent for a long ti before he spoke, "Do you know why I am angry? Do you think I am angry because of what your mother did last night? Do you think I am angry because your mother went to her and confessed everything?"
"No, Zhijin, I am angry with myself, I bla myself, why was I born into the Han Family... Your mother was only thinking of protecting you, she was only thinking of having stand in front of you, but does your mother know that over these years, it wasn’t just standing in front of you, but her too..."
"Do you really think she was born infertile? No... It was after marrying that she beca like this..."
"In those two years she was married to , soone had been drugging her with ergency contraception pills, it damaged her body, and that’s why..."
Han Zhijin looked up in astonishnt, his gaze lifting towards Han Jingnian.
"That’s the main reason I’m so angry; it’s our Han Family’s fault that she suffered, our Han Family has wronged her. If I were to act as if nothing happened, I would be the one feeling cold-hearted for her."
Pausing, Han Jingnian t Han Zhijin’s eyes, "Do you think I can forgive your mother?"
Zhijin’s mouth opened, but that "I’m sorry" couldn’t co out anymore.
He knew too little of the Han Family’s dark secrets, or rather, he had been too well protected, shielded to the point of complete ignorance.
It was only today that he realized the light and beauty of his world were built upon the pain and darkness of his family mbers.
Before coming to see his uncle, he had thought about confessing, about begging his uncle to forgive his mother. But now, he found he didn’t even have the right to ask... Yes, his mother had said those words for his sake, but how innocent was his aunt, and yet it was because of them that she beca infertile...
Silence once again enveloped the study.
After what seed like an eternity, Xia Wan’an’s voice ca from outside the door, "Ti for dinner..."
Han Jingnian turned his head and glanced at Han Zhijin, "Get up, it’s ti to eat."
Hearing these six words, Han Zhijin looked at Han Jingnian with a face full of disbelief.
He understood his uncle’s character; if his uncle spoke these words, did it an that his uncle had... agreed to his request?
It took a while for Zhijin to finally speak, "Uncle, you, I, I, you..."
Han Jingnian knew what Zhijin wanted to say, "Just this once."
Just this once... Zhijin’s eyes reddened once more.
"Dinner’s ready!" Xia Wan’an had called out several tis without a response before knocking on the door of the study.
Han Jingnian walked toward the door.
Just as he was about to open the door, Han Zhijin suddenly called out, "Uncle!"
Jingnian stopped in his tracks and slightly turned his head towards where Zhijin was.
"Just this once!" Zhijin repeated the words Han Jingnian had just said.
Jingnian didn’t speak, he opened the door. However, as he stepped out, he heard Zhijin quietly mutter once more, "Just this once."
His voice was much softer than before, but the tone... was resolutely firm.
