Han Jingnian gazed deeply at Xia Wan’an, remaining silent.

His intense gaze filled Xia Wan’an with an inexplicable apprehension and guilt. She tried hard to maintain a smile on her face, holding the kitten close to her chest. With a voice filled with confusion and a trace of guilt, she asked, "Mr. Han? Is sothing wrong?"

Han Jingnian continued to lock eyes with Xia Wan’an. After watching her for a mont, he finally spoke in a nonchalant tone, "No, nothing..."

He paused for a mont before his lips moved again, answering her previous question, "Little Mirror."

"Little Mirror? What a lovely na, who ever nad it is quite talented..." Xia Wan’an shalessly complinted herself for naming the kitten and then asked, "Did Mr. Han na it?"

Han Jingnian: "...No, it was..."

Han Jingnian hesitated, as if he was talking about sothing heavy. After a few seconds, he barely moved his lips to complete his sentence: "...nad by my only wife."

Xia Wan’an couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but it felt like Han Jingnian had deliberately emphasized the word "only" when he ntioned his wife.

She pretended to laugh it off and said casually, "I’ve heard rumors that Mr. Han was married, but his wife disappeared three months ago in an accident..."

"Mr. Han, my condolences..." After saying this, Xia Wan’an added in a half-joking tone to lighten the mood, "Mr. Han, you emphasized ’only’ when you ntioned your wife... It sounds like Mr. Han really liked Mrs. Han."

Han Jingnian: "It’s not that I liked her... I loved her."

Xia Wan’an was surprised and montarily didn’t understand what Han Jingnian ant.

The man looked at her calmly and said in a light tone: "It’s not that I liked, but that I loved."

It wasn’t a re liking. His words ant that he loved her.

She had just said that it seed Mr. Han liked Mrs. Han... So his words ant that Mr. Han loved Mrs. Han...

Xia Wan’an felt as if her heart had been struck by sothing, stirring waves within her. Her fingers, entangled in Little Mirror’s fur, couldn’t help but clutch at it tighter.

Loved, deeply loved... Was Han Jingnian saying that he deeply loved Xia Wan’an?

She had never imagined that she would hear the word "love" from Han Jingnian’s mouth.

The force of Xia Wan’an’s grip increased without her realizing it. Little Mirror, hurt by her tight grip, shrank back and let out a "ow," scratching at Xia Wan’an’s chest with its paw.

Xia Wan’an regained her senses, realizing that she had lost her composure. She hurriedly steadied her emotions, trying hard to seem like a detached outsider watching a drama, and said, "I apologize, Mr. Han, I was distracted by your touching words..."

Xia Wan’an didn’t give Han Jingnian a chance to reply before swiftly moving on to another topic, "Mr. Han, weren’t you here to pick up sothing?"

Han Jingnian nodded slightly and after a pause, he said, "Miss Xia, please wait a mont."

With that, Han Jingnian headed towards his study.

Watching Han Jingnian’s retreating figure, Xia Wan’an quietly let out a sigh of relief.

She was so close, so very close... to revealing everything in front of him.

Just as she was about to fully relax, Han Jingnian suddenly turned around as if he had rembered sothing, glanced back at Xia Wan’an and the cat in her arms, "Miss Xia, could you please change Little Mirror’s water and put out so cat food?"
