...

The old Han family house.

At the Monday family dinner, Han Jingnian arrived when everyone had already sat down and started eating.

The housekeeper who was tidying up the trash in the living room saw Han Jingnian enter, and imdiately ran towards the dining room: "Madam, young Miss, young Master Jingnian has arrived..."

With the housemaid’s announcent, Han Jingnian’s figure had already appeared at the entrance of the dining hall.

The first to speak was Han Zhijin’s biological mother, Lu Yangui: "Oh? Jingnian has co? We thought you wouldn’t co today, so we didn’t wait for you to start eating..."

Han Jingnian nodded slightly toward Lu Yangui, then shifted his gaze to Madam Han. Although his voice remained cold, his eyes finally softened, "Grandma."

Madam Han was delighted, she called for Han Jingnian to sit down, urging the housemaid to quickly serve food for him.

After Han Jingnian sat down, Han Zhijin, who was sitting next to Lu Yangui, looked up and said, "Uncle."

Han Jingnian glanced at Han Zhijin without responding.

The housemaid served the food, and Han Jingnian began eating in silence.

Seeing him start eating, the others resud their als too. The dining table was eerily quiet. Sitting beside Han Jingnian, Grandmadam Han kept turning her head to look at him. Noticing her constant glances, Han Jingnian asked her after one more look, "Grandma, is there sothing you want to say?"

"Not really..." Grandmadam Han shook her head with a smile, drank so soup, and seeing Han Jingnian still staring straight at her, she put down her chopsticks and started to speak, "Actually, there is ... it’s just that ..."

Grandmadam Han hesitated for a while before finally sighing, "Jingnian, I know you can’t forget An’an, and I can’t either. But... you saw that explosion with your own eyes. An’an... she ... she can’t possibly still be alive..."

There was no major change in Han Jingnian’s facial expression, but he gripped his chopsticks tightly.

Sitting opposite him, Lu Yangui, who was eating elegantly, had clear signs of panic flickering in her eyes. But soon, she lowered her eyelids, hiding her emotions.

"If An’an were alive, I would never suggest this to you. But An’an... she’s gone, and you have to keep living... You can’t possibly plan to live alone for the rest of your life, Jingnian? So, what I an is... for you to attend the SA charity event next week..."

Grandmadam Han didn’t make her words too explicit, but everyone present understood her intentions.

Almost all the noble ladies of Beijing would attend the SA charity event... This was the one occasion where daughters of prominent families turned up in large numbers... Grandmadam Han’s intention was quite clear, she wanted Han Jingnian to et those girls and see if there was anyone he was interested in...

Han Zhijin, who was eating silently, suddenly put down his chopsticks, "I’m full, great-grandma, mom, uncle, I’m going upstairs first!"

Then, without waiting for anyone else’s reaction, he got up, kicked the chair away angrily and left the dining room.
