Qin Shujian’s prolonged silence had the reporters present beginning to whisper to each other.
"Why isn’t Qin Shujian talking?"
"Don’t know, is she too ashad to speak?"
"If I were her, I would be too embarrassed to hold this press conference..."
"..."
The chatter in the room grew louder, with a few reporters by the front making particularly harsh, piercing remarks which cleary fell onto Qin Shujian’s ears due to their pronounced tone.
Qin Shujian’s face turned increasingly pale, and she beca more nervous and helpless. Initially struggling to find her voice, she was now at an utter loss for words.
Her silence and stagnation seed to send the atmosphere spiraling out of control.
She hardly dared to look at the scene, subconsciously withdrawing her gaze. However, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Cheng An standing out from the crowd.
In an instinctive pause, her gaze was drawn towards Cheng An. Separated by the vast crowd, he was looking at her, his dark eyes seemingly echoing the silence, profound and vast.
Coming into eye contact with Cheng An, Qin Shujian’s heart trembled slightly, and then she rembered the words he said to her on New Year’s evening.
"As long as you speak, I believe..."
"That day, you can say whatever you want...just saying it to ..."
Qin Shujian pursed her lips, forcing herself to calm down. After swallowing hard, she looked again at the reporters below the stage. After ntally cheering herself on several tis, she finally found her voice, "Ladies and gentlen of the dia, fellow reporters, good afternoon, I am Qin Shujian."
"I am very grateful to you all for attending my press conference despite your busy schedules. Regarding various matters that have recently appeared on the internet, I will present the facts to everyone today."
"I use the word ’fact’, because what everyone has seen and heard recently is not the full picture..."
The speech for the press conference was drafted by her agent, and thus she was able to recite it smoothly. When she transitioned into her own expositions, she stumbled a bit before proceeding, "As everyone knows, Qin Shujian, female, 26 years old, was discovered by talent scouts during high school. I was lucky to step into the entertainnt industry, and my career took off instantly, becoming famous across the country."
"But beyond that, no one knows any other information about Qin Shujian. I rember in June last year, when variety shows were very popular, countless stars were bringing their parents on the shows. At that ti, I made the trending searches on the internet once. The trending topic was ’offered fifty million for my appearance fees, yet I refused to participate in the variety show.’
"At that ti, there was a lengthy debate online. So people said I was filial, not wanting to expose my parents and disrupt their peaceful life. So said I was rely pretending...of course, the number of people who accused of pretending was small. At that ti, I never responded. If I could go back in ti, back to June last year, and I had to comnt on this incident publicly, I would say..."
Qin Shujian paused for a mont, composed her emotions before continuing: "I would say, how I wish the term ’filial piety’ could apply to my life, unfortunately, by the ti I had the ans to properly care for them, my grandmother had left , and since then, I no longer had a family."
