A girl is crying...

Xia Wan’an’s brow furrowed, she started with a "Hello," then, hearing nothing but the suppressed sobbing over the phone, she spoke again, "May I ask, who is this...?"

No one replied on the other end of the phone. The sobbing continued, sotis loud, sotis soft, with intermittent breaks.

Xia Wan’an’s brow furrows even more, "Can you please say sothing?"

No words ca from the other side, so Xia Wan’an spoke up again, "I’m sorry, but If you can’t speak now, I will hang up the phone..."

As she finished speaking, Xia Wan’an prepared to take the phone away from her ear and disconnect the call. As soon as the phone left her ear, she heard a whimpering sound, full of tears.

Xia Wan’an suddenly stopped mid-motion. After three seconds, she recognized who the person crying on the other end of the line was. "Yixiao?"

The other end of the phone instantly fell silent.

"Yixiao, is that you?"

A few seconds passed, then two "ah ah" sounds ca from the other side of the phone.

So it really was Han Yixiao... It was almost 10 in the evening, why was she crying and calling her?

Upon recalling the scrambled pattern of old bruises she accidentally saw on Han Yixiao’s body at the Han family’s old house, Xia Wan’an’s heart suddenly tightened, "What’s wrong, Yixiao?"

She asked her for a long ti that day, but Yixiao refused to tell her what was wrong. Before she left, she left Yixiao with a phone number and told her to call if she needed help...

Without waiting for Yixiao’s response, Xia Wan’an blurted out, "Yixiao, did sothing happen?"

As soon as Xia Wan’an finished speaking, she heard the sound of cars speeding by on Yixiao’s side of the phone.

Was she on the side of a road?

"Yixiao, where are you?" Having said that and rembering that Yixiao couldn’t speak, Xia Wan’an continued, "Yixiao, my cell number is my WeChat account. Add on WeChat and send your location, so I can find you, OK?"

Han Yixiao on the other side of the phone kept crying intermittently, with no other responses.

"Yixiao, if you agree with what I said, hang up my call and add on WeChat, OK?"

After becoming friends on WeChat, an anxious Xia Wan’an shared her location with Han Yixiao. After about half a minute, when Han Yixiao accepted the shared location, Xia Wan’an was able to discern Han Yixiao’s location from the map - she was on a main road near the old Han house.

"Stay there and don’t move. I’ll leave now and should be there in about 20 minutes."

As Xia Wan’an was sending her WeChat ssages to Han Yixiao, she said goodbye to Qin Shujian and the others. After getting the bill settled, she hailed a taxi and headed towards the old Han house.

...

After Su Ge left, Xia Wan’an also left. Qin Shujian had nothing to chat with the others about and just played with her phone.

She was seated a bit away from Cheng An, but she could occasionally hear Chen Wenwen’s laughter and her occasional coquettish "annoying~" aid at Cheng An.

Each ti, Qin Shujian would raise her head and glance in Cheng An’s direction, where Wenwen would either be nestled in his arms laughing or hanging all over him, as if they were kissing.

(I don’t know if this "kissing" will be acceptable! I’m scared!)
