The girl had a lovely face, with calm brows and eyes, betraying no signs of joy or sorrow. Her cleaning movents were deft and focused, seemingly unaware that soone had arrived...

Just looking at the scene before him, Han Jingnian couldn’t find any problems. He circled around Xia Wan’an, confirming that she was unhard. After searching for her for so long, he finally let out a long sigh of relief.

He had been too anxious, worried that sothing had happened to her for not returning ho so late. In reality, she had only co to clean the long-neglected villa...

Taken aback by his unwarranted scare, Han Jingnian relaxed the nerves he had been holding taut for an hour. He moved his lips to say "goodnight," but the words died on his lips.

Wait, sothing was wrong. Was it rely cleaning she was carrying out? The immaculate scenes he encountered before, were they the result of casual housekeeping? Every leaf in the vegetable garden was spick and span... This indicated that she had been here for hours, probably spent entirely cleaning...

As these thoughts flashed through Han Jingnian’s mind, his heart leapt into his throat.

It was already past eleven at night. She, who usually loved to sleep, would typically be snuggled in bed by now. But here she was, still mopping the floor... and even the open balcony... It was impossible to completely clean an open balcony weathered by wind and sunlight. Her behavior was simply bizarre!

Although she seed physically fine, the emotional turmoil was in no way less severe than if she’d had an accident! Emotional troubles are the hardest to resolve.

Han Jingnian held his breath and watched Xia Wan’an struggle to scrub away a stubborn stain in the corner of the balcony. As she reached into the crevice to scrape it out...

Han Jingnian snapped back to reality, as if compelled, he called out, "An’an!"

Xia Wan’an seed not to hear his voice, still laboriously scraping the relatively dirtier stone.

"An’an!" Han Jingnian called Xia Wan’an’s na again. This ti, he strode over to her, bending down to grasp her hand that was vigorously scratching at the stone.

Her fingertips were cold as ice, causing Han Jingnian to furrow his brows. His voice slightly heightened with worry and heartache, "Why are your hands so cold?"

Xia Wan’an, whose hand was seized, trembled violently at his words and reflexively tried to withdraw her hand.

Han Jingnian, noticing her evasion, tightened his grip and without giving her the chance to resist, pulled her up from the ground, "It’s too cold outside on an autumn night. Let’s go inside."

With that, Han Jingnian assertively led her towards the villa.

Xia Wan’an, led by him, struggled for a mont before giving up. As she ekly followed him inside, her gaze dropped to the hand he was holding. She looked down for only a few seconds, and she almost burst into tears.

His hand was so warm, his palm was so solid. It had taken her eight years of effort to finally hold this hand... She really didn’t want to let go!
