Although Han Jingnian turned the TV on, it was Xia Wan’an who chose the TV series. It was a lodramatic historical romance drama. At first, she was absent-minded because of the delivery, but as the show went on, her attention was gradually drawn into it.
The plot of the drama was incredibly clichéd and overdone, but the actors’ performances were impressive. Despite the nurous plot holes, it was genuinely engaging.
The story’s simple, the female protagonist fell in love with a scholar, and they clandestinely pledged to spend their lives together. The scholar promised to marry her when he passed the imperial examination, and after so sweet monts, he left for the capital city to take the test. Before parting, the female protagonist gave him all her money. The scholar did pass the exam, but he married the princess instead. The heartbroken female protagonist chose to marry the Emperor and beca the Empress, then sabotaged the scholar. At her instigation, the scholar was banished to the frontier by the Emperor.
One particular scene displayed the main actress’s trendous acting prowess: After marrying the Emperor, the scholar and Princess ca to pay respects to her. The scholar was shocked at reuniting with her, while she kept her cool. After they left, the scholar returned secretly to see her. When the scholar questioned her, she gave him a scathing reply and said, "The next ti we et, rember to call mother, Prince Consort!"
Watching this scene, Xia Wan’an’s face lit up with excitent, "That’s how the leading lady should be. No, every woman in the world should do this. If you dare betray , I will beco your mother!"
