She turned a corner along the stairs, shining her flashlight forward, and saw a tall figure sitting on the ground, leaning against the wall, his chest heaving heavily...

The man was hanging his head, and judging by the outline of his body, Xia Wan’an inexplicably felt a strong sense of familiarity.

However, she soon dismissed this thought. She had always done this, missing him so much that every ti she saw soone who looked even a bit like him, she thought it was him. But each ti, this only brought disappointnt.

How could sobody as noble as he be climbing stairs, and how could he possibly be squatting here in such a wretched state?

The man’s breathing was becoming more and more rapid, as if he had difficulty breathing, as though he’d pass out at any mont.

Xia Wan’an could no longer afford to speculate, and hurriedly rushed down the stairs.

"Sir, you..."

After uttering just these three words, Xia Wan’an stopped cold.

Getting closer and under the glow of her flashlight, she could see the man’s face more clearly. Even though he kept his head lowered, she recognized him imdiately.

This ti it wasn’t just her imagination projecting him onto a stranger, it truly was him...

But why would Han Jingnian be here all by himself? And why was he in such a state?

Xia Wan’an paused montarily, before hurriedly speaking again, "Han... Han Jingnian?"

He didn’t respond, but she could feel his entire body shaking severely.

Xia Wan’an imdiately crouched down and reached out, lightly touching him, "Han Jingnian, you..."

Before she could finish her sentence, her fingertips brushed against his arm. Her touch was light, but he reacted as if soone wielding a knife was charging him, reflexively brushing her hand away.

He used so much force that he knocked Xia Wan’an to the ground, sending her phone flying out of her hand. The flashlight was now shining directly on Han Jingnian’s face.

Han Jingnian, who had been in a state of anxious agitation, seed a bit calr now exposed to the light. He slowly lifted his head and looked at her.

When he saw Xia Wan’an, who he had knocked down to the ground, he hesitated for a mont, moved his lips as if he wanted to say sothing, but in the end, he didn’t utter a word.

Seeing that he was no longer as agitated as before, Xia Wan’an carefully spoke, "What... what’s wrong with you?"

He didn’t reply, just looked at her.

Sweat was drenching his forehead, and his face was pale enough to scare anyone.

Is he... sick?

Thinking of this, Xia Wan’an asked, "Are you feeling unwell? Do you need to take you to the hospital?"

His chest was still heaving heavily, as if he was having difficulty breathing. He did not answer again, but this ti, shook his head at her.

"But this is not a solution either. Should I... should I call Dr. Xie to co here..."

"No need..." were the only two words Han Jingnian managed to utter. It seed to be a great effort for him. He then tried to stand up, pushing against the ground with his hand, but despite several attempts, he could not get up.

"Are you trying to stand up?" Xia Wan’an rembered how he had thrown her off when she touched him just now, so she restrained her instinctive action to help. "Can I help you up?"

Han Jingnian stopped his struggling attempts to stand up and, after a pause, gave Xia Wan’an a slight nod.

Only then did Xia Wan’an move in front of him, stretching out her hand and, with great effort, propped him up from the ground with her shoulder.
