Little thoughts circled around in Xia Wan’an’s heart for a mont. Whenever Han Jingnian’s gaze, drifting fleetingly in her direction, t her own, Xia Wan’an, looking up, cheerfully outstretched both her hands to Han Jingnian, "Embrace~"

Jingnian’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down twice, though he stood still, the firm set of his eyebrows and eyes visibly softened. His gaze towards Xia Wan’an turned sowhat profound.

Xia Wan’an, seeing his expression beginning to slacken, took a deeper breath and looking up at him, her smile becoming even sweeter.

She innocently wagged her hand at him. Noticing that he was beginning to move towards her, she swiftly turned her body, sat up with a small roll, then got to her feet, and began walking towards him.

But after a few steps, she pretended to have a foot pain, crying out, she stumbled, pretending to tumble towards the ground.

The man who had been standing in front of the large window, maintaining a cool composure instantly lost his calm. Almost reflexively, he darted over to Xia Wan’an’s side, reached out his arm, and securely caught the girl.

"Twisted your ankle again?"

"Does it hurt?"

"I’ll take you to the hospital..."

As Han Jingnian consecutively said those three lines, Xia Wan’an, who had rely been acting, couldn’t help but laugh.

Seeing that Jingnian had seriously scooped her into his arms and was striding quickly towards the door, she hastily wriggled her way out of his hold.

She had intended to stop him, but to her shock, his expression made her recoil.

She had never before seen such an expression on Jingnian’s face: pale, with the disconnected aloofness that habitually lurked in his eyes vanished, leaving only chaos and worry. Even his typically composed face was now etched with anxiety and hurriedness.

This version of Han Jingnian... this was the first ti she’d seen. In her mories, he had always been calm and steady. Even when they had been kidnapped and faced a host of n wielding clubs, his deanour had remained stoic...

Her heart, as if silently enveloped by sothing, felt simultaneously warm and aching, which rendered Xia Wan’an unable to speak for a mont.

In no ti, Jingnian rushed to the door. As he fumbled to retrieve the room key card, Xia Wan’an finally regained so clarity. "Han Jingnian..."

Han Jingnian looked down at the girl in his arms. "Hold in there, I’m taking you to the hospital imdiately."

"I..." Xia Wan’an looked at Jingnian, whose anxiety was evident. Feeling a bit guilty, she stuttered, "I’m... alright, I... just lost my footing."

Jingnian remained a little unsettled.

Xia Wan’an broke out of his embrace, stood on the ground, "I’m really alright..."

Fearing that he wouldn’t believe her, she carefully turned a full circle on the spot, then looking quizzical, tilted her head up at Jingnian,"You see, I didn’t deceive you, right?"

Jingnian exhaled a visible sigh of relief, even his shoulders dropped slightly, appearing much more relaxed.

He didn’t speak, stared at her smile for a mont, and then reached out his hand towards her.

Seeing this, Xia Wan’an looked questioningly at his slender, delicate fingertips montarily, then raised her head, asking, "What’s the matter?"

Jingnian still didn’t speak but instead pulled her arm, enveloping her in his embrace, holding her close: "Didn’t you want a hug?"
