Song Youman didn’t reply. Instead, she put her phone away, stood up and walked back into the ergency building. She ca to the desk of the doctor she had registered with and finally spoke: "Doctor, I’ve decided. This child, I ..."

Song Youman pressed her lips together tightly, swallowed hard, as if mustering every ounce of strength she had to combat her internal struggles. After a while, she forced out the words: "...I’m not keeping it."

"Have you decided?"

Song Youman’s hand had turned into a tight fist, slightly trembling from the pressure: "Yes, I have."

Why should she give birth to this child? She had yet to fully enjoy her youth. Why should she suffer and endure such hardship for nine months because of a stupid man!

As if trying to convince herself, Song Youman spoke again: "I don’t want this child. I want to terminate this pregnancy as soon as possible."

"Please wait," The doctor didn’t try to dissuade Song Youman. He opened his computer, checked the surgery schedule, and then told Song: "The earliest we can schedule your surgery is next Tuesday morning. If there are no problems on your end, I can arrange that."

Song Youman feared she might change her mind, so she imdiately agreed: "I have no problems."

...

The day after she had dinner with Song Youman, it was Saturday. Xia Wan’an, who had been busy recently, allowed herself to sleep in. By the ti she woke up, it was already two in the afternoon.

After stretching her arms in her bed, Xia Wan’an picked up her phone and looked at the ssages in the ’Unrciful Playboy’ group chat. She couldn’t help but @ Han Zhijin: "Nephew, I suggest you reflect on your actions."

"The most handso kid in the whole capital": "Aunt, I really did nothing wrong."

Xia Wan’an got out of bed, heading to the bathroom while typing out another response: "Why would Youman lash out at you without reason? Don’t even try to deny it, you must have done sothing unforgivable."

"The most handso kid in the whole capital": "Aunt, we are family. Why are you not standing by ?"

"The most beautiful kid in the whole capital": "What do you an? Can’t you speak clearly? My loyalty clearly leans towards Youman!"

Han Zhijin sent a hurt emoji. Xia Wan’an, who was brushing her teeth, didn’t bother responding and put her phone down.

After washing up, Xia Wan’an first changed the water in the pet bowl, filled it with cat food, then headed to the kitchen to prepare her own food.

Just as she finished eating, her phone rang. It was a call from Han Jingnian who went on a business trip to Arica the day before yesterday.

Xia Wan’an answered the call, held the phone up to her ear and greeted: "Hello."

Before the voice of Han Jingnian on the other end could respond, a female voice filled the line. Although she was speaking in English, Xia Wan’an understood the woman was asking Han Jingnian to dance with her.

Xia Wan’an couldn’t help but ask again: "Is there a woman with you?"

Right after Xia Wan’an asked this, Han Jingnian said "hold on" and hung up the phone without another word.

Xia Wan’an was left listening to the busy signal, feeling a bitter sting.

What was Han Jingnian thinking? He actually hung up on her, without any explanation. "Hold on?" Hold on for what? So he could go dance with another woman while she waited?
