By the ti Assistant Zhang Te returned to the Four Seasons Hotel, the party had already been dismissed.
He swiped his card to unlock the door to the penthouse. Once inside, the room was unusually quiet, dimly lit by just the light above the entrance. He didn’t see anyone at the desk and assud that Han Jingnian had retired for the night. He was about to silently retreat and visit again the next day, but in the dimr light by the floor-to-ceiling windows, he saw Han Jingnian. He stood there motionless, like a statue.
"Mr. Han," Zhang Te gave up on the idea of leaving, taking two steps forward.
Han Jingnian didn’t react.
"Mr. Han, I am back."
As Zhang Te stopped behind Han Jingnian and spoke again, the latter glanced back at him. However, his eyes quickly moved past him, as if searching for sothing.
Seeing Han Jingnian’s reaction, Zhang Te understood what he ant, "Mr. Han, your wife has gone ho."
Han Jingnian didn’t respond, his gaze moving from the door.
Seeing no sign of discomfort on his face, Zhang Te felt he had correctly guessed Han Jingnian’s thoughts and continued to speak, "Dr. Xie has given your wife a thorough examination. Luckily, she didn’t sustain any new injuries tonight. However, the sight of an unhealed old wound compounded with a fresh one is quite scary."
"Dr. Xie has also given your wife dicine - the best kind. It is supposed to activate blood circulation and disperse bruising. Dr. Xie told your wife that as long as she applies the dication on ti, there will be no scars. She can rest assured."
"But..." Zhang Te then paused. He wasn’t sure if he was talking too much. But after hesitating, he continued, "Dr. Xie ntioned that, based on the situation of your wife’s old wounds, she must have been severely injured at the ti. According to such injuries, she should’ve been recuperating in a hospital for so ti. Dr. Xie said, it’s a great fortune she didn’t lose her life or face any side effects...
"Be that as it may, it’s rather strange. How is it that there was no news about your wife’s injury? Moreover... a few days ago, your wife called, saying she was on a business trip. We even t her brother recently and he didn’t seem to know anything. Could it be that your wife did not inform anyone about her injury?"
Han Jingnian’s finger twitched faintly and he glanced back at Zhang Te.
Realizing that he was probably blabbering too much, Zhang Te imdiately shut up and excused himself, "Mr. Han, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out now. You should rest soon as well."
Han Jingnian ignored him.
Zhang Te made a quick escape.
Just as he was about to reach the door, Han Jingnian called him back, "Investigate it."
"What?"
"Her injury. Investigate it."
"Oh, sure, sure."
Zhang Te acknowledged him. Seeing that Han Jingnian was no longer paying attention to him, he turned his gaze back towards the window. Zhang Te stared at him for a while, feeling that sothing was different about him, but he couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. Then he opened the door and silently left.

Even though they had been bustling from morning to night, during the drive from Beijing Grand Hotel, Han Jingnian was still steadily taking calls.
When the car finally quieted down, Zhang Te was finally able to speak, "Mr. Han, I have results on the matter you asked to investigate yesterday."
