Chi Mu, with her lofty deanor of unrivaled superiority, had expressed her intentions clearly. She then turned around imperiously, pulled her suitcase and left, her high heels clicking on the ground.
However, after she had walked only a few steps, Xia Wan’an called out to her, "Wait."
As Chi Mu stopped in her tracks, Xia Wan’an slowly rose from the couch, sauntering to the door, "Miss Chi, do you know what I’m best at?"
Chi Mu raised an eyebrow, her face full of arrogance, but she didn’t say a word.
"I," Xia Wan’an leaned lazily against the shoe cabinet, "am pretty good at dealing with cunning foxes, especially the sly ones."
Chi Mu’s face instantly turned livid.
Yet Xia Wan’an smirked, "You know what a sly fox ans, right? In modern terms, it ans a mistress. In ancient terms, it would an a concubine. Oh wait, Miss Chi, you can’t even qualify as a concubine. At the very least, concubines in ancient tis were properly wed. You, at most, rank as... a chambermaid."
After a pause, Xia Wan’an continued her mirthful addition, "I wonder though, Miss Chi, have you slept with Han Jingnian yet? If not, then... you don’t even qualify to be a chambermaid..."
"Who do you think you are, daring to speak about like that?!" Chi Mu, enraged, raised her hand to hit Xia Wan’an.
But the mont her hand was about to strike Xia Wan’an’s cheek, Xia Wan’an raised her own hand, tightly gripping Chi Mu’s wrist.
The smile on Xia Wan’an’s face disappeared completely, and what erged in her eyes was a bone-chilling cold, "Miss Chi, feel free to play the role of the outrageous mistress. But let make this clear - in this world, nobody gets to snatch sothing away that I, Xia Wan’an, don’t want!"
With that, Xia Wan’an harshly let go, causing Chi Mu, in her high heels, to stumble backward. Sheated in indifference, Xia Wan’an shut the door right in Chi Mu’s face.
Well then, this is her wedding night, if it can even be counted as one.
She thought, not many people have to deal with a ho-wrecker threatening to replace them on their wedding night, right?
Chi Mu certainly hadn’t gained any advantage that night, but she, Xia Wan’an, hadn’t fared any better. Han Jingnian’s absence was humiliation enough for her.
The cell phone in her hand vibrated again.
Xia Wan’an was brought back to reality by the buzz. Lowering her gaze, she saw a new ssage hot off the press.
It was still from Chi Mu, "Do you know where Han Jingnian is now? He is having dinner with on your day of registration. Oh, if you don’t believe , you can swing by the Lucky Pavilion in the Beijing Hotel."
Xia Wan’an fixed her gaze onto the ssage for quite a while before closing it and opening a ride-hailing app.
Her destination was Garden Villa.
Not long after, her cab arrived. Upon getting in, she spoke up before the driver drove far, "Sorry to bother you, sir, but I need to go to Beijing Hotel now."
From Clubhouse 101, the Beijing Hotel wasn’t far away. After about ten minutes, the taxi ca to a stop by the main entrance of the Beijing Hotel.
Even before she could step out of the car, Xia Wan’an saw Han Jingnian and Chi Mu walking out from the bewilderingly luxurious revolving door of the Beijing Hotel.
