Upon entering the Xia family ho, Xia Wan’an’s mother greeted Han Jingnian before returning to her bustling kitchen.
Cheng Tongyi washed his hands and went to help in the kitchen.
With Xia Chen’an not yet ho, it left Xia Wan’an and Han Jingnian alone in the living room.
When her parents were around, it was fine. But without them, the atmosphere between Xia Wan’an and Han Jingnian beca sowhat stifling.
He didn’t initiate a conversation with her, and naturally, she didn’t speak either. All that was left around them was the noise from the television and the faint sound of the extractor fan in the kitchen behind them.
They sat there awkwardly and quietly for an unknown length of ti, until the "ding-dong" sound from Xia Wan’an’s cell phone interrupted the silence.
As she took out her phone, she saw her card holder and was reminded of the black card Han Jingnian had given her.
When she left his place that day, she had forgotten to leave his black card behind. It was not until she used it to make a purchase that she rembered she should return it now that she wasn’t living at his place anymore...
As they ran into each other today, and her parents were not around...
With that thought, Xia Wan’an took out the card holder, found the black card, and handed it to Han Jingnian.
Han Jingnian, who had been feeling unwell and had drunk a large glass of white liquor, sat on the sofa with his eyes closed.
He wasn’t asleep, his hearing sharp. Hearing her movent, he slightly opened his eyes.
Upon seeing the black card in her hand, he was montarily stunned. He didn’t say anything but looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Seeing him not taking it, Xia Wan’an directly placed the black card on his legs.
Han Jingnian looked at the black card on his leg silently for a mont, seemingly understanding her intention. Frowning slightly, he abruptly took her ticulously organized card holder, inserted the black card into it, and flung it back at Xia Wan’an.
What does he an? She gave him back his black card and he didn’t accept it?
Xia Wan’an stared at the card holder for a mont, then rummaged through it once more. She found the black card again and flung it onto his lap.
Han Jingnian’s eyes cooled noticeably, but he didn’t show signs of anger. Instead, he picked up the card, once more seizing her card holder, and forcefully shoved the card back in.
This ti, he didn’t throw the card holder back at her; instead, he shoved it into her bag and zipped it shut.
The next second, Xia Wan’an unzipped her bag, took out the black card again, and shoved it into Han Jingnian’s suit pocket.
Han Jingnian pulled the black card out of his pocket, frowning slightly.
Before he could seize her card holder again, Xia Wan’an had already flung her bag onto a distant sofa.
Han Jingnian lowered his gaze, finally breaking the silent tug-of-war between them. "Keep it."
Seeing Xia Wan’an staying silent, he tried to stuff the black card into her pocket. During the silent struggle, Xia Wan’an pushed his arm away, accidentally pushing him onto the sofa.
"An’an, what are you doing?!"
From behind, Cheng Tongyi’s voice suddenly rang out.
At the sound of this voice, Xia Wan’an’s body jerked.
When did her father co out?
And Han Jingnian, why did he act so weak and easy to topple?
Xia Wan’an shot a fierce glare at the "frail" Han Jingnian sprawled out on the sofa. To avoid being reprimanded by her father and to prevent him from catching on to the tension between her and Han Jingnian, she quickly thought up a diversion. The next second, she suddenly threw herself onto Han Jingnian. "Dad, we were about to kiss!"
