"Wait, wait, wait."

I stared at Maria, stunned.

"What did you just say? Rewrite fate?"

Right now, I am on the edge of my seat.

I have so many questions I want to ask her. She was spouting so mind-bending stuff with that straight face of hers.

Maria blinked at , narrowing her eyes as she spoke.

"Sigh, it's difficult to explain; you'll understand better if you see it with your own eyes."

Maria rolled her eyes, then turned to Ruby and Lily.

"The place we're visiting would be far too dangerous for a child; it would be best if you left Lily with one of my maids."

To her suggestion, Ruby's grip on Lily tightened before she fell into a deep thought.

If what Maria inford us about the Door of Endless was true, then it would be safe not to bring Lily with us.

"I know," Ruby said, looking up at Maria. "But how can you be so certain that she will be safe with one of your maids?"

I noticed this as soon as I set foot on this warship. Maria places excessive trust in her crewmates. This rule also applies to her crewmates.

Seeing the worry on Ruby's face, Maria assured her.

"You don't have to worry about trust, for which I personally handpicked each of my mbers. And as for betrayal… that'll never happen."

"You sure are confident, huh?" Ruby showed a bitter smile as she stood up from the floor.

Maria, returning to her usual cold deanor, answered.

"It is ti that taught this." She turned to , "You can take her if you like. But if you deeply care for her ntal stability… then leave her in the care of one of my maids."

This made things. Exactly what's behind that door?

'Guess you'll find it sooner.' Sera pointed.

"...hm?"

Before I asked anything further, a bright yellow light fell on us from the window.

It was casting from the outside, covering the whole warship we're on.

WALI…! WAIL…! WAIL…!

The siren on the ship wailed with a piercing tone.

"What's happening?" Ruby pushed Lily into her cloak and quickly drew her katana with a swift motion.

"Relax." Maria's calm tone reached our ears. "This was just a warning alert. We've entered the Twilight Triangle."

From the window, I saw more than fifty ships. Small and big surrounding our red skull warships.

So pointed huge focus lights towards us, while others positioned their cannons, aiming.

Maria walked out to her office door and then whistled.

"Raise the flags, position all the cannons, and blast away any ships who dared to stop us!" She roared.

A beat later, the flags of Red Skull's logo waved high in the air. The ships that were surrounding us turned their focus to the flags.

Within a second, they cleared the path. They allowed the Red Skull to pass without getting in the front.

None dared to stop us. The fear was that high. Maybe it's because of the Red Skull's reputation, but I was entirely wrong.

Stepping out of the room myself, the first person I saw was Maria Frostvile.

Stood at the bow of the ship, Maria's eyes didn't even falter from the surrounding ships. The lights from the surrounding ships briefly illuminated her face before fading away.

It was not the Red Skull but Maria Frostvile whom the other pirates feared.

"Can she be trusted?" I muttered under my breath.

But the answer I was not expecting ca from Sera.

—' Lord Karton got himself quite the apostle. Human, take pride in that, and try learning as much as you can from her.'

My eyes didn't waver from her, that confidence, that aura, that seer power she was emitting just by standing there… I wonder how many years it will take to achieve all of these.

"Look to your left." Ruby pointed to my left.

My eyes instantly drifted to the raging waves, and the salty water sprinkled on my body as our ship got closer.

Ruby's cloak fluttered wildly in the wind, and the re act of opening our eyes left feeling drained.

To my left, the surface swirled, creating a whirlpool, covering miles of ocean.

"The Twilight Triangle," I whispered.

The sheer existence of that thing was unnatural. The abyss seed to summon itself in front of us, engulfing everything that dared to co near it.

Creak— BANG!

The warship ca to an abrupt halt. Everyone's attention focused on a single spot on the ocean, bringing the ship's activities to an abrupt halt.

"H-How are we going to get there…" So n on the ship shared their concerns.

And not just he, but every other crewmate has the sa look on their face.

"MOVE!" Maria gave a cold command from the front, sending her crew into shock.

What was she trying to do?

There is a massive whirlpool directly in front of the ship, and getting too close to it would be suicidal.

WOOO—!

The ship wailed, and then it slowly started to move towards it.

The air pressure intensified. The ship shook and tilted as the water splashed on the deck.

I almost lost my footing. Abruptly turning to my right, I gripped Ruby's hand.

"Hold on tight!"

She nodded, taking her katana out; she pinned it hard on the floor, gripping the hilt for support; she clenched onto it.

Ruby's entire focus was on her cloak— on Lily.

I am gritting my teeth.

"Oi...!" I called out to Maria.

What is she doing?!

We're all going to end up dead this way.

But she didn't turn to face .

Her focus was entirely fixed on the whirlpool. Her sailor skirt waved nacingly in the air.

WOOO—!

"Everyone hold—! Impact incoming!!" Shouted one of the crewmates.

I saw the humongous whirlpool just a step away from the ship.

"Shit!"

Imdiately, I pulled Ruby closer and tightly held both her and her cloak to my body.

Focusing on my Ice Essence, I created a thick ice prison around our feet.

CRASH—!

The ship was pulled into the whirlpool, getting caught in the swirling water and pulled towards its centre.

Darkness consud the ship as thunder roared in the sky, the water beca deadly cold, and the ship swirled with lightning speed.

Still, my eyes were open; it was only fixated on the single person standing at the bow.

In the darkness, the water around us suddenly glowed, sky blue, shining like glitter. And in that light, for a brief mont, I saw a grin creep on Maria's face.
