“Oh? And what makes you say that?” Su Mu asked with interest.

“The few of us entered the Nightmare World ahead of you and spent three days together without issue. But ever since you arrived…” Ye Fanyu didn’t finish his sentence, but the aning was clear.

“Impossible! We would never betray the Chief!” Zhao Chaoyao glared furiously, as if his very faith had been insulted.

Ye Fanyu didn’t argue further. He simply turned to Su Mu.

Su Mu smiled lightly and walked over to Zhao Chaoyao.

“Chief! You have to believe us! We’d never betray you!”

“Don’t worry, I know.” Su Mu smiled as he reached for the handgun at Zhao Chaoyao’s waist.

Click.

The sound of a bullet being chambered echoed.

“In fact, I already know who the traitor is.” Su Mu slowly moved the gun across the group, stopping in front of Yang Dongqing.

Yang Dongqing imdiately frowned, “You suspect ? Heh… if it were —”

“Step aside,” Su Mu said impatiently, waving the gun, motioning for Yang Dongqing to move.

Yang Dongqing froze for a second, then stepped aside, revealing Ye Fanyu behind him.

Ye Fanyu’s muscles instantly tensed, his eyes narrowing slightly, “Mr. Su, that’s not a funny joke.”

Su Mu slightly furrowed his brows, “You move too.”

Ye Fanyu paused, realizing sothing. He quickly stepped aside as well, and behind him—stood Wang Li, who had been hiding behind the crowd all along.

Delicate and timid, Wang Li’s face turned pale as everyone turned their eyes on her. She quickly looked behind her, hoping soone else was there so Su Mu would tell them to move too—but there was no one.

There was no one behind her.

Her face turned even whiter, panic flashing in her eyes. She waved her hands frantically, “N-No… it’s not ! Why would I break the windows and let those monsters in? I would’ve died too!”

Ye Fanyu looked at her with doubt in his eyes, “Mr. Su, are you sure? With her kind of timid personality, it’s really unlikely she’d damage the windows.”

“Exactly! Why do you think it’s ? What proof do you have?” Wang Li clutched at this hope like a lifeline.

Su Mu pointed the gun at her, smiling, “Of course I have proof.”

He paused, then said, “When we were jumping out the window earlier, you deliberately stalled at the window and blocked

from jumping.”

Everyone was stunned. This was the proof?

“I didn’t stall on purpose! I’m just afraid of heights! Is that a cri too?!” Wang Li argued frantically, “You all saw it! He’s blaming

just because I delayed him! This is revenge!”

Ye Fanyu said nothing, but chills ran through him. Su Mu was insane—he was going to kill soone based on this alone? But even so, he didn’t step in. It would be irrational to make an enemy of Su Mu over an ordinary person.

Even Ye Fanyu stayed silent. Naturally, no one else dared speak up for Wang Li.

Her face turned ashen as she stared in disbelief at the group, “You… you can’t treat

like this! Why? Just because I’m afraid of heights?!”

Only Yang Dongqing showed a trace of sympathy, just about to speak when Su Mu continued, “Wang Li is afraid of heights—but you’re not.”

Wang Li froze, “What are you talking about? I am Wang Li!”

“Tsk tsk…” A mocking smile appeared on Su Mu’s face. “Such convincing acting. After seeing your brilliant performance, I almost want to sign you. I happen to own a film company. But unfortunately, nightmare creatures probably can’t sign legal contracts, can they?”

“Nightmare creature?!” Ye Fanyu’s expression changed. “Mr. Su, are you saying… the real Wang Li is dead? And the one we’re seeing now is a disguised villager?”

Su Mu shook his head, “I’m more inclined to believe she is Wang Li—just one who has beco like the villagers.”

“Wang Li… beca a villager?”

“Have none of you considered this? The villagers were once human, now turned into nightmare creatures. Wang Li was human too—so why couldn’t she have changed?”

Wang Li flailed her arms desperately, trying to shake off suspicion, “I’m not! I was with you the whole ti! How could I have turned into a nightmare creature? Stop falsely accusing !”

At that mont, Li Qiang suddenly rembered sothing. His face darkened, “You weren’t with us the whole ti. Before we t Mr. Su, you ran back alone.”

With that, the atmosphere instantly tensed. Ye Fanyu and Yang Dongqing instinctively moved away from her, staring at her with sharp vigilance.

“You all… I’m really not a monster, sob sob sob…” Wang Li broke down, tears falling like pearls.

“Sigh, I really can’t stand seeing won cry,” Su Mu said with pity. “So just die for .”

He slowly raised the gun and aid it at Wang Li’s head.

Wang Li imdiately stopped crying, using her hands to shield her head, as if such a pathetic move could block a bullet.

“Don’t kill ! This is all just a guess—you have no evidence that I’m a nightmare—”

“No. I do,” Su Mu said flatly. “Take a bullet from . If you die, you were Wang Li. If you survive, then you’re a villager.”

Wang Li’s expression beca indescribable. Shock? Anger? Fear? Disbelief? A storm of emotion flooded her face. It was hard to believe a human face could show so many emotions at once.

“If… if I die, that proves I was Wang Li? But what if you’re wrong? Then I’ll have died for nothing!”

“Then so be it. At least you’ll leave your innocence behind in this world,” Su Mu shrugged.

“Innocence? I—”

Bang!

A deafening gunshot silenced even the falling rain. A single bullet pierced the rain and landed squarely in the middle of Wang Li’s forehead.

Her words stopped abruptly. She collapsed without a sound.

Ye Fanyu flinched—not at the gunshot, but at Su Mu himself.

He had survived three Nightmare Worlds and believed his conscience was already numb, that he wasn’t a good person. But in this mont, he suddenly felt like maybe he was a good person—at least he wouldn’t treat human life with such disregard.

“Su Mu, you—” Yang Dongqing’s furious glare was about to be followed by sothing more when a monstrous roar cut him off.

ROAR!!!
