I look around in confusion. Why are the people in this castle running around? Does a monster wave appear near the city?! I run to one of the servants and ask her a question.
"Excuse ! What is happening?"
The servant looks at for a second and says,
"The army is back. Lord Alexander and the others are coming back from the South."
"Truly?"
"Yes. Because of this, we need to prepare a feast."
"I see. Thank you."
Is the war over, and they win it? Or are they retreating? If it is the first one, then this is good news, but if this is the second one... Sothing terrible is happening in the south that even Gwyndolin and thousands of people cannot solve.
I quickly leave the palace and can already see Veronica and Jonathan waiting for .
"Take you long enough to get here, Cat."
Jonathan gives his usual teasing smile while Veronica giggles at my tardiness. I cannot help it, okay?! For so reason, the bed in this place is heavenly! When I asked the servant about it, they only said one thing. All of the beds in this place are from Gwyndolin. He is the one giving the bed to all the guest rooms in this place.
When I said the reason why I asked them for it, they gave a knowing nod and did not say anything.
Just what kind of bed did that man create or make?!
I release a calming breath and look at the two of them.
"You two are the ones getting up earlier than usual."
That’s right! They usually wake up at the sa hour as . Veronica is the only one that wakes up earlier than us every now and then. Jonathan is the worst, as he usually wakes up even more late than . He has the lifestyle of a prince, and no one wants to tell soone who has power over their life.
"Oh, well, that is because we hear so much noise that we cannot help but wake up."
"Speaking of noises, why do you think the army is coming back?"
"Oh, I can answer that."
I look away from Jonathan and see Veronica taking out a letter from her pocket. She gives it to and starts to read it.
The letter is about how the Gokuya Kingdom uses a massive crystal to summon a high number of monsters into reality. The letter also says how Lord Verqur, Jonathan’s father, decided to retreat from the battlefield and told the king about the current situation.
"This is bad."
Why do I say this? The size of the Void Crack is worrying. The party sent by Veronica decides to stay in the Gokuya Kingdom a little longer to see how bad the situation is in the South, and it is bad. The monsters already wreak havoc in the Gokuya Kingdom, and so of them are going north. As for the Void Crack, it is type-4 Void Crack, a troubleso thing to beat.
It is around twelve to fifteen ters tall and seven ters wide. This Void Crack will summon a high-ranking monster that is hard to kill and keep summoning the monster for a whooping twelve hours. That is more than a million monsters spawning in the world.
"This is really bad. The worst situation."
I look at Veronica and Jonathan before saying.
"Do you know what the king will do?"
Veronica and Jonathan shake their heads before Veronica says.
"At the mont, there is none. It looks like the other nobles who did not want to join the campaign also did not want to get involved in the war against the monster wave. The king cannot do anything other than order them to move, but I have a feeling the king did not want to create even more discontent among the Northern Nobles by ordering them to move out their soldiers to help the people they hate."

I can see a haunting expression on Jon’s face. It is as if he rembers a traumatic accident that happened in the past. Just how bad was the tantrum he saw?
"Bad. It is bad."
"What?"
I look at Veronica.
"You have the expression, who wants to know how bad the tantrum is, and let tell you, it is bad. They are too spoiled, and the only thing they want to do to the one hurting their pride is to kill the offender."
Urgh. What a troubleso bunch.
"Yeah. That is bad."
"Anyway, we should probably wait near the gate to see the army coming in."
"Yeah, you are right. Co on"
The three of us walk to the southern wall where the army will go through. We can see many people waiting for the army to arrive as we arrive at the wall. I guess they are the family mbers of the one going to the South.
We sit on the edge of the wall and look at the horizon. We can see a lot from this place because Shadowfall City is located on the hill. I can see the Bloody Gate, a large chasm where the previous Lord of the Cunningham family died from battle in the skirmish against the Gokuya Kingdom.
However, that is not the only thing that grants its title as the Bloody Gate. It is called that because of the fight that killed the previous lord of the Cunningham family resulting in both armies almost wiping out each other in a single fight.
The history book I read in this place tells about how only a hundred people manage to get away after killing the n from the Gokuya Kingdom to the last n, and who is the one leading these one hundred n? Alexander Gerrion Cunningham, the current Lord of the Cunningham family.
I snap from my thoughts when I see a movent coming out of the dense forest just outside the Bloody Gate. I can see Lord Verqur and Lord Alexander leading the army on the front with their horses. Following them are the other lords, and Gwyndolin and his group are among them.
I push a bit of my mana into my eyes, and I can see them a little closer. I widen my eyes when I see the state of the army. I can see their clean and polished armor replaced with damaged, dented, and even chipped armor covered in dried blood and mud.
Just what kind of fight do they experience there?! It was like a fantasy army marching in the book when they first marched. Glistening armor that shines under the sun and a sword that shines each ti the knights swing it.
However, the army that is coming back looks the opposite of when they first marched to the South. They are covered in dried blood, and their body’s full of dirt and mud. And their expressions change from cocky and confident with a touch of arrogance to serious and humble expressions.
"What kind of a fight do they do in the frontline?"
Jonathan looks at the incoming army in shock. He might not say it out loud, but he is worried about his father, who goes to the frontline. The sa with Veronica, who has her favorite uncles leading a group of n from the Yorn family.
I’m lucky that my family is a young family who did not have a good standing army just yet, and the king was willing to let my family not send any army South.
