"Who? Who’s talking?"
The mont she spoke, Qiao Xixi’s consciousness was sucked into a black hole.
"It’s ."
Qiao Xixi’s eyes widened in shock. She stared in disbelief at the phantom figure that appeared in the darkness.
The phantom figure was surrounded by a warm, golden light, making him appear taller and more slender.
It was Yun Ji.
Qiao Xixi frowned in disgust. "Why are you imitating my voice?" ’How creepy.’
Yun Ji’s face was as holy as a deity’s, a hint of a smile touching his serene eyes.
He floated in front of Qiao Xixi and lowered his gaze.
"This was the fastest way to draw you in."
"You’re showing up now. Are you planning to help solve my problem?"
Yun Ji shook his head with a faint smile. "I can teach you. You applied what you learned last ti very well. Today, I’ll teach you sothing new."
Qiao Xixi rembered that she had indeed beco stronger after his last lesson, so she waited patiently for him to continue.
"What we’re learning today is a bit complicated, so you must listen carefully."
Qiao Xixi nodded.
"I will recite a passage of divine text. You will repeat after ."
A sudden buzzing sound filled Qiao Xixi’s ears. Strange tones flooded in, and she wasn’t sure if it was a hallucination, but as Yun Ji recited the syllables, it seed as if golden symbols were flying from his mouth.
’How strange.’
As Qiao Xixi stared in curiosity, she felt a tap on her head.
She looked up accusingly and t Yun Ji’s slightly stern gaze. "Have you morized it?"
’I’ve morized absolutely nothing.’
"If you don’t start paying attention, you will be punished."
’Hey, when did he beco my teacher?’
"Punished? Have you forgotten? You’re the one who offered to teach this. I never asked you to."
Yun Ji seed taken aback by her words. After a mont’s pause, he sighed softly.
"Study well. Don’t you want to save your tribe mbers? Once the blue fruit lts into their blood and bones, there is no cure. Only you can give them a sliver of hope."
Qiao Xixi’s expression instantly turned serious. "Are you teaching how to cure them?"
Yun Ji nodded.
Now Qiao Xixi didn’t dare to let her mind wander. She began to learn from Yun Ji in earnest.
Logically, the lody he recited seed to have no pattern and should have been very difficult to morize.
But for so reason, she had it morized naturally after hearing it only twice.
"Turn your fingers over. No, not like that..."
Qiao Xixi’s hand was taken by a pair of cool hands.
She looked down at the pale, well-defined hands that emanated a chill.
’Are his hands so cold because we’re touching inside my consciousness?’
Yun Ji looked up. Seeing her expression, he knew she had spaced out again and gave her fingertips a gentle squeeze.
"What are you daydreaming about now? Your fingers should be placed like this."
Yun Ji released her hand and looked at her.
"Do it again."
Qiao Xixi focused her mind and went through the entire process just as he had shown her.
Yun Ji watched, and a genuine smile finally graced his lips.
"Good. You’ve morized it all. Do it just like this later."
"Is that all it takes?"
Yun Ji nodded.
Qiao Xixi wasn’t sure if it was a hallucination, but she felt that his phantom form had beco a little fainter.
"You’re not stupid, just unfocused."
"Of course I’m not stupid. If I didn’t learn it well, it would be because you didn’t teach it well."
A flicker of weakness passed through Yun Ji’s eyes. "Go. It’s been a long ti."
’A long ti?’
Qiao Xixi felt like it had only been a mont. How could it have been a long ti?
In the next instant, Qiao Xixi felt her body being lifted, a familiar scent wafting to her nose.
It was Jin Ling.
Jin Ling held her and placed her on the bed.
Qiao Xixi had wanted to say she wasn’t sleepy and would sleep after dinner, but before she could get the words out, she fell into a deep sleep.
"Hasn’t Xixi woken up yet?"
"No."
"It’s been several days. Why is she sleeping for so long? Is there sothing wrong with her?"
"The witch doctor cos to check every day. He says there’s nothing wrong, she’s just sleeping."
The voices outside the door startled Qiao Xixi awake. She opened her eyes and found them terribly dry.
She was about to sit up in bed when she realized her arm was completely numb from being pinned.
Just as she was feeling helpless, Jin Ling pushed open the door and ca in. When he saw her eyes were open, the worry in his own gaze gradually faded.
"Xixi, you’re finally awake."
"Jin Ling, my arm is numb."
Jin Ling strode forward and lifted her from the bed. He gathered the power of his beast soul in his palm and infused it into her body.
After the energy coursed through her body, Qiao Xixi felt instantly refreshed, and she beca fully awake.
Feiyan also ca in. Seeing Qiao Xixi awake, his tightly furrowed brow relaxed.
"Xixi, what were you doing with Xijing that day? How did you get so exhausted?"
"I don’t know. I just vaguely fell asleep."
The two males checked her over and over, examining her from head to toe. Only after confirming that there was truly nothing wrong with her did they finally relax.
"Who are you calling an old fox?"
"I’m talking about you, you old coot! You’re always holding An’an. Do you think An’an even wants you to hold her? She’s clearly happiest and smiling when she’s with ."
"She’s laughing at how stupid you are. When she spits up on you, you just take it with your face."
Upstairs, Qiao Xixi was a bit dumbfounded listening to the two powerful, booming voices.
Seeing her expression, Jin Ling explained, "Langqi and Feili Father Beast were both very worried, so they’ve been staying in the inner city with the cubs for the past few days. They said they would wait until you woke up to take the cubs out to train."
Qiao Xixi thought to herself that Langqi had been here for several days, yet she hadn’t had a chance to speak with him properly.
"You must be hungry. I’ll go get you sothing to eat first."
"Okay."
As soon as Jin Ling left, Feiyan ca over, picked her up, and hefted her in his arms.
Qiao Xixi was speechless.
Feiyan said, "You haven’t eaten in days. You’ve gotten lighter."
Not long after Jin Ling went downstairs, the arguing outside stopped.
Before Qiao Xixi could ask Feiyan to put her down, two tall figures rushed in. Behind them followed a whole troop of hurried cubs.
"Xixi, you’re finally awake!"
"Mother! Mother!"
The chirping voices weren’t noisy to Qiao Xixi at all; she just smiled as she looked at them.
She knew they must have been worried sick during the days she was unconscious.
"I’m fine, you don’t have to worry. I was just tired and slept a little longer than usual."
Qiao Yi wanted to get closer, but for so reason, he remained standing at a distance.
"It’s good that you’re okay. If you’re tired, just rest well in your room. They will handle the tribe’s affairs."
"Right, right! Leave it to Feiyan. It’ll stop him from loitering around you all day with nothing to do."
"Alright, Father Beast, you guys should take the cubs outside for now. Xixi just woke up, don’t bother her."
"Right, right, right."
Feili Father Beast turned around and scooped up the cubs with his large hands.
"Aww, Grandfather, we haven’t even had a proper talk with Mother yet."
"I want to take care of Mother."
"Let your mother rest a bit longer. You can go back in a little while."
Qiao Xixi watched them leave, the smile never fading from her eyes.
Her gaze shifted, and when her eyes landed on Qiao Yi, she froze completely.
