Without knowing when, the ti for the warriors to return from patrol had arrived.
Eric jumped out of the tunnel, stood on his tiptoes to look around, but saw absolutely no sign of anyone.
He didn’t believe his eyes, so he lay flat on the ground to listen, but also didn’t hear the familiar footsteps of the Snow Wolf group.
Looking at the position of the sun, Eric felt sothing was strange. Why hadn’t they returned today? Usually, by this ti they would have arrived, or even earlier. Could it be they encountered so high-level magical beast and got held up?
Carrying this doubt, Eric told everyone to take a break and go eat lunch first. He also led his tail, Arthur, to the cafeteria to fill their stomachs.
"Strange, why isn’t Max back yet? Did they encounter a formidable magical beast? It’s been a long ti since I went hunting; my hands and feet are itching," Sam ate a few bites hurriedly to finish his al, speaking with so doubt to Eric sitting next to him.
"I don’t know, hopefully everyone won’t get hurt." Worry began to rise in his heart; Eric ate without appetite, his eyes constantly looking out the window.
Sam was afraid he was too worried, so he laughed a few tis to reassure him: "Eric don’t worry, today basically all the warriors in the tribe went out. The beast tide is also about to end; maybe Max plans to take the opportunity to hunt a few more prey, so they’re back late."
"I hope so." Eric withdrew his gaze.
After lunch, the few people belonging to the Horned Goat and Snow Wolf tribes also asked the Dwarves for so iron shovels, then obediently worked under their direction.
Eric saw that the sky was getting dark and the warriors still hadn’t returned. Thinking of how the Elves suddenly attacked at this ti a few days ago, his heart beca even more uneasy. He also had no mood to dig dirt anymore, intending to go to the edge of the forest to see what had happened.
The Snow Wolf people often hunted quite far away; perhaps they hadn’t reached the territory yet. Eric saw everyone had gotten into the rhythm of work, so he ran out of the village alone.
He ran in the direction where the warriors’ scent was strongest. Seeing this, Arthur also quietly followed.
"You go back to the village, I’m going to find Max," Eric walked briskly on four short legs, speaking to Arthur who was leisurely walking beside him.
"What if soone cos to cause trouble like last ti? With here, I can protect you. Besides, you don’t run as fast as . How about I carry you; you guide the way," Arthur bluntly suggested.
This was not a lie.
Arthur indeed ran faster than him even though Eric had four legs. Last ti Eric didn’t know the reason, but now he knew. Being of the Dragon tribe, a creature with combat power ranking at the top of this world, running fast was natural. Once Arthur fully recovered, maybe he could even fly Eric around.
Eric was also anxious, so he didn’t stand on ceremony. He jumped onto Arthur’s back, using his furry paw to point in the direction where a faint scent was coming from, signaling him to run that way.
"Maybe I should hold you; it’s safer. On my back, what if you don’t hold on tight and fall off?" Arthur was a bit unwilling; he still rembered the feeling of holding the soft ball of fluff in his arms last ti.
Eric patted Arthur’s neck repeatedly with his paw pads: "I’m fine, I won’t fall, let’s go!"
Seeing Eric was determined to sit on his back, Arthur sadly said "okay", wrapped his two arms behind him to support the little Snow Wolf’s body, and only then rushed forward.
Spring returned, and the warriors began their daily hunting life again. The Fantasy Dream Continent had fertile land, vast territory, and sparse population; magical beasts were the creatures with the largest numbers.
If the divine beasts and beast kings weren’t guarding their own territories, either sleeping or in closed-door cultivation, perhaps this continent would have had another formidable force.
Eric lay on Arthur’s back; unlike that winter trip to the sea, this ti he could see the entire scenery around him. Large patches of grass and forests rushed backwards on both sides; countless magical beasts with strange shapes roared sky-shaking roars upon seeing the two people.
He felt a bit of fear in his heart. After all, he was just a human who had only seen tigers on TV and in zoos, and had never hunted alone (the few wild chickens and ducks before were just Sam "playing house" with him).
Arthur tightened his arms, sensing the body of the little wolf on his back stiffen. An unpleasant feeling rose in his heart. His pupils instantly turned gold, and golden scales appeared on his forehead.
He stopped and let out a roar full of power as if coming from ancient tis, a sound penetrating the soul aid straight at the magical beasts chasing closely behind.
In an instant, the magical beasts running at the very front stopped in fear, causing those behind to also stop one after another.
The next second, the whole group of magical beasts turned and fled in panic with a speed even faster than when they arrived, as if sothing terrible was chasing them from behind.
"Arthur, that’s amazing! This ti I completely believe you are a Dragon person!"
Eric looked curiously at the magical beasts running for their lives, scratching Arthur’s ear a few tis with his claws.
Where Eric couldn’t see, Arthur’s expression was colder than ever: "Hmph, they dared to scare you; they deserve to be burned to ashes by a fire."
"That would be a waste. I saw so wild boars with very large tusks in there; the ribs would be delicious if stewed, hehe." Eric recalled for a mont, smiling naively.
Hearing him talk about food, Arthur’s expression softened, and he smiled foolishly along:
"You’re right, if burned to ashes then they can’t be eaten. I want to eat stewed ribs."
Eric patted his head with a paw: "Let’s go, talk about eating when we get back. I sll their scent right ahead."
Not slling the blood of Snow Wolf people, it probably wasn’t anything major. It was just that there was indeed a sll of blood in the wind, but this sll was very distinct, not like the sll of magical beasts. Eric didn’t recognize what it was, only urging Arthur to move forward.
Crossing another patch of forest, only then did they see Max and the other Snow Wolf warriors.
Only beside them was a pile... yes, a pile of rabbits huddled together?
Eric was stunned for a mont. Where did the rabbits co from? Moreover, looking at their eyes, they didn’t look like normal magical beasts... okay, they were Rabbit beastn?
This group of rabbits had dozens of individuals, looking like they belonged to two breeds, er, two different races.
One type was lop-eared rabbits with brown spots on a white fur background, a size larger than the white rabbits raised in the village. The other type was smaller, with warm brown fur all over, not even half the size of the lop-eared rabbit.
Opposite Max was a group of tall, muscular beastn sitting cross-legged. The leader looked very familiar; it was warrior Sunflower of the Tiger tribe who had co last ti.
Eric was most impressed with this beastman. In the tribe, there was a person nad Flower, but this majestic Tiger warrior was nad Sunflower...
