She rembered.

In the novel, there was always a subtle spark that marked the beginning of a romance between a rising heroine and her destined male lead, or at least one of them, usually unfolding halfway through the volu. And in this exact mont, Selvis Drevrin laid eyes on Sera... and fell hopelessly in love with her bratty attitude.

He was that kind of male lead. The type who’d smirk and say things like:

"Ha... You amuse , kitten."

Followed by an avalanche of cringe-worthy lines about owning, taming, or seducing the heroine - things only fictional n could get away with. In real life, he’d have been slapped five tis before the end of the sentence.

This guy right here was a trusted assassin under Raphael—famous for his stealth, wit, and general plot confusion.

He went from being his father’s son to his father’s brother. At that point, who even knew? Noble family trees were basically horror stories.

He had a dual personality: sweet and angelic in public, but in private? A lazy, childish gremlin. Only a few knew the truth.

Oh, and also, he was a total masochist.

Despite always acting like the smooth seducer, he secretly enjoyed being looked down on, especially by girls who didn’t fall for his dangerously pretty face.

"God, this is exhausting..."

Still staggering from the system’s forced debuffs, she turned the corner, just in ti to witness Sera screaming at the top of her lungs:

"I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!!"

"M-My... did soone unleash their rabid—"

CHOMP!

Right in front of the entire cafeteria, Sera bit his hand deep. The man actually scread like a scandalized noblewoman, utterly horrified that soone dared to damage his famously flawless, assassin-level skin.

This mont was cody gold in the novel, but Sera’s talent for actions worthy of public execution was exhausting in real life.

"M-My..." he hissed, cradling his hand. "Looks like I’ve found a pet in need of training..."

"No!" Verena suddenly stepped in, sliding between them.

"Oh? Well, well... if it isn’t Verena." His smile dropped like spoiled wine. Yikes.

"She’s not your pet," Verena snapped.

...Should she have said that? Wasn’t she the one calling Sera her mutt last week?

Last ti she tried to play the scene her way, it backfired spectacularly. This ti, she had to get it right. No shortcuts. No cheesy system fixes.

Because let’s be real, everyone was after her now. Not just the male leads. Even the heroines had hands.

There was no such thing as friendly fire. This was a solo raid.

Think... think...

Her brain scrambled for a non-lethal solution. Especially since the guy in front of her was a top-tier boss fight.

It’s all or nothing!

"I don’t know what you’re talking about..." Verena said sweetly, before slinging an arm around Sera’s neck and resting her chin on top. "She’s not your kitten, and she’s definitely not a kitten. First of all, this girl is a bitch, and a bitch is a female dog. Now, what’s the closest breed she resembles?"

"W-WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY YOU LITTLE SHI—" Sera’s protest was cut off as Verena casually clamped a hand over her mouth.

"That’s right! A chihuahua," Verena grinned, then leaned in to whisper, "Just play along. I’m trying to save your ungrateful ass."

Sera wriggled furiously, clearly offended, but slowly, reluctantly, she began to get it. Verena might’ve been the worst, but that was the point. The goal wasn’t to sound sweet. It was to make it crystal clear who Sera was closer to.

"This bitch is my chihuahua. So please, Sir Selvis Drevrin," Verena’s voice dipped into mock sweetness, "don’t go around trying to steal other people’s dogs."

Her friends were visibly dying inside from holding back laughter. Even Evelyn looked more entertained than threatened that she was with another girl. Thank the stars for small blessings.

Now if only the man in front of her wasn’t the real problem...

[SYSTEM WARNING]

[Selvis Drevrin’s Competitive Drive Has Increased!]

[Due to your recent interaction, Selvis now views you as a romantic rival.][He finds this challenge amusing and personally offensive.]

[Expect more smug comnts, dramatic entrances, and unwanted gifts.]

[You have made things worse. Congrats.]

"Interesting," Selvis mused, his lips curling. "I admire your... resolve."

Yeah, they probably looked like two alphas fighting for custody over a bratty sub. At least the man finally backed off, bowing with mocking grace before turning to leave.

The mont he disappeared, Verena let out a long, exhale. "Thank god..."

"Say that again?" Sera glared, arms crossed.

"Say what? That you’re my bitch?"

"YOU ABSO—"

"I’m kidding, I’m kidding!" Verena laughed, far too pleased with herself, and gave the fuming girl a pat on the head. "I know, I know. You’re not a pet. You’re your own loud, bitey little gremlin."

"I..."

[Debuffs have been removed!]

[SYSTEM NOTICE: Main Plotline Triggered!]

[Congratulations! You have successfully secured your second target]

[New Love Target: Sera Anverre]

[Affection Points: 0]

Ouch! A zero starting score? I thought we were closer than that!

anwhile, Sera was visibly confused. She had hurled so much hate at this woman. Afterall, she despised noble girls. But Verena had changed. Soone had probably smacked her over the head with a rock and reset her entire personality.

What’s worse was that Sera didn’t even realize when she’d started softening up to her.

Still, she couldn’t lower her guard. Noblen, noblewon. They were all the sa breed of snake.

Eventually, Verena would toss her aside too.

Just like everyone else.

Once classes ended, Sera was the first to head back to the dorm.

Verena was stuck drowning in student council duties. Sothing about legislative papers and pretending to care about rules.

By the ti Verena finally made it back, night had already fallen.

"I really hope there’s no assassin this ti..." she muttered, shutting the window tight and locking the door with practiced paranoia.

Lesson was earned the hard way.

When she looked down, she spotted a cute little panty with a giant heart on it on the bed.

It looked like sothing straight out of a toddler’s wardrobe.

She squinted at it, genuinely confused.

"Whose kiddie panty is this?"

"I–I–"

Sera stood frozen in the bathroom doorway, bright red with embarrassnt... and then imdiately switched to furious mode.
