"Sorry, Beatrice—gotta go!" Verena called over her shoulder before lunging forward and grabbing Evelyn by the wrist.

"L-Lady Verena?!" Evelyn gasped, stumbling over her own feet as she was dragged along.

They weaved through the madness, dodging flying trays, spilled drinks, and students diving for cover like this was so kind of battlefield.

A plate shattered re inches from Verena's head. A bowl of soup went airborne. Soone was crying.

By so miracle or dumb luck, they burst out of the cafeteria and into the hallways, breathless and unscathed.

But Verena wasn't about to slow down. She needed sowhere to hide. Sowhere those two lunatics wouldn't bother looking.

Then, she saw it.

She swung open the nearest bathroom door and all but shoved Evelyn inside before slamming it shut behind them.

Verena slumped against the door, catching her breath. "Finally..." she exhaled, relief washing over her.

[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]

[Congratulations! You have successfully prevented Evelyn's Affection Points from plumting into the abyss. Crisis averted... for now.]

Well, at least sothing was going right today.

When Verena finally got a good look at Evelyn, she winced.

The poor girl was a ss.

Her usually pristine white hair clung to her face in damp strands, her uniform was stained with food, and droplets of water still dripped from her sleeves.

She just stood there, shoulders hunched, gripping Raphael's blazer around her like a lifeline.

She wouldn't even et Verena's eyes.

"Evelyn, look at ," Verena said gently.

"No..." Evelyn's voice was barely above a whisper. "I'm unsightly right now." She clutched the blazer tighter.

"I insist."

Without waiting for permission, Verena tugged the blazer away. Not too rough, but firm enough that Evelyn couldn't resist.

The girl flinched but didn't fight back as Verena carefully peeled off her own soiled blazer as well, setting it aside.

Sighing, Verena brushed damp strands of hair away from Evelyn's face, grimacing at the bits of food stuck in them. "Ugh. They really went all out, huh?"

Evelyn remained silent, eyes downcast.

Rolling her sleeves up, Verena marched over to the sink, splashing water onto her hands before returning with determined efficiency. "Alright, hold still."

She cupped Evelyn's chin with one hand and used the other to gently wipe away the ss. "Tsk, tsk. What would you even do without ?"

"You're treating like a kid..."

"I an, you kind of are one to ..."

She wasn't wrong. In her head, she was a fully grown 27-year-old woman dealing with a bunch of emotionally unstable teenagers.

Seriously, these people had the maturity of unsupervised children at a noble's banquet. ssy, dramatic, and utterly exhausting. It wasn't as surprising since it was a freaky 15 year old kid who wrote this novel.

[SYSTEM WARNING: You have unknowingly entered a BAD ZONE.]

"Ah—!" Verena's knees buckled, and before she could catch herself, she lurched forward - straight into Evelyn, pinning the girl against the sink.

Their faces were suddenly too close, breaths mingling.

Stupid system!

"S-Sorry! Are you okay? I didn't an to—"

Evelyn's blush flared, but then, just as quickly, it vanished. Her expression shifted.

"Even like this... you still look at like a kid," she murmured.

Before Verena could process that, Evelyn took her hand, softly at first, then guided it, pressing it firmly against her chest.

Oh.

Plump.

Every second, Evelyn's grip tightened over Verena's, making sure she felt every contour. A silent ssage. A challenge.

What the hell did she just unlock?!
