Yu Changsheng took the elixirs and examined them, feeling quite satisfied.

Although he had only ford five pills this ti, he had refined them all by himself, without his master’s help.

’I must have switched from the Slow Fire to a high fla too quickly. If I’m more careful with the next batch, getting six pills shouldn’t be a problem.’

Beaming, Yu Changsheng took out the next set of materials, but he suddenly paused. He glanced at the sky outside and hurriedly began to pack everything away.

’I still haven’t fed the animals at the Spirit Chicken Garden and the Beast Garden. I can’t miss out on that two thousand Essence a day!’

He rushed out of the Alchemy Room.

He was desperately short on Essence right now. There were too many Cultivation Techniques and Magic spells he needed to upgrade, and the evolution of his Red Snake King and Iron Carving King would also consu a great deal.

He had finally found a great place like the Beast Garden to farm Essence; he didn’t want to get kicked out by Elder Wei the very next day.

By the ti he arrived at the Beast Garden, it was already close to noon.

Fortunately, Elder Wei wasn’t angry. As if he knew Yu Changsheng had been busy lately, he spoke in a relaxed, leisurely tone from his rocking chair.

"Feeding the Spirit Beasts is a thankless job to begin with. If you don’t have ti to co over, it’s no big deal. I’m usually the one taking care of this place anyway."

Yu Changsheng replied respectfully, "I will make ti to co every day. It’s no trouble."

"Mm, go on and get their food. I’m going to doze off for a bit longer. This sun feels wonderful. When you get old, you don’t feel much like moving."

With that, Elder Wei closed his eyes, a look of pure enjoynt on his face as he settled into his rocking chair.

Yu Changsheng didn’t dare to delay; so of the Spirit Beasts would throw a fit if they got too hungry. After grabbing the food from the wooden cabin, he imdiately began feeding them in sequence.

Out on the grass, a Cyan Flower Deer looked over curiously. ’This newcor is back again.’

It trotted over, taking small steps, and nodded at him three tis.

It was nodding much faster than yesterday, as if deliberately trying to give Yu Changsheng a hard ti.

But Yu Changsheng’s reflexes were just as quick, and he imdiately bobbed his head back three tis.

As if it had found a fun new toy, a grin spread across the Cyan Flower Deer’s muzzle. It continued nodding at him, picking up the pace even more.

Yu Changsheng refused to be outdone...

In the end, after several hundred nods, the man and the beast finally grew tired and called a truce.

After eating the Sunflower Leaves, the Cyan Flower Deer let out a weary cry in Yu Changsheng’s direction before quietly returning to the grass and flopping down lazily.

"That was close." Yu Changsheng wiped sweat from his brow, caught his breath, and moved on to the next Spirit Beast.

The Cyan Flower Deer was undoubtedly the most mischievous Spirit Beast in the Beast Garden, but it was only being playful and didn’t use its higher Realm to bully others.

When Yu Changsheng finished his feeding round, he had collected over 1,900 more Essence.

In just two days, his Essence had reached over 4,000.

This incredible rate of accumulation thrilled him.

’At this rate, I’ll have a hundred thousand Essence in two months. Reaching Minor Achievent in the Refining God Technique is just around the corner!’

’However, the amount of Essence I gain decreases after each feeding, just like with elixirs.’

Yu Changsheng cald himself down.

The Spirit Chicken Garden was always the sa: 1 Essence for every chicken fed.

But here at the Beast Garden, yesterday’s feeding yielded 1,970 Essence, while today it was only 1,920. Tomorrow, it might drop into the 1800s, and he had no idea how much it would decrease after a month.

’By comparison, the Spirit Chicken Garden seems more stable and reliable.’

’Once I take over the Spirit Chicken Garden, I can expand the operation. I’ll raise the number of Spirit Chickens from 150 to 1,000, and then I’ll have a guaranteed 1,000 Essence every day!’

A clever smile touched Yu Changsheng’s lips.

After leaving Beast Taming Peak, he went to the Spirit Chicken Garden, and once he finished feeding the chickens there, he returned to practice Alchemy.

During that ti, he received a ssage from the Affairs Hall. The contribution points for passing the servant selection had been distributed by Elder Wan of Sword Control Peak. He received 3,200 points, which, when added to his initial 100, brought his total to 3,300.

These points were enough to be exchanged for a Cultivation Technique unique to Beast Taming Peak, or even to seek out the peak’s Skill Transmission Elder for personal instruction.

But Yu Changsheng didn’t have the ti for that now. His life had fallen into a simple routine, a straight line between two points: he was either practicing Alchemy or on his way to feed the chickens.

anwhile, elsewhere.

At the summit of Beast Taming Peak.

Yun Hejing landed before a cave abode. She stepped inside and bowed respectfully to the figure before her. "Master."

Inside the cave abode, a middle-aged man in a yellow robe turned around. His eyes were piercing, and he possessed a natural, majestic authority that was intimidating without any hint of anger.

This man was none other than the Peak Master of Beast Taming Peak, Mo Pengchen.

"You’re here."

"I’ve reviewed the file on that disciple you ntioned. Although he only has Three Spirit Roots, his talent for Beast Taming is indeed astonishing."

Mo Pengchen clasped his hands behind his back, his eyes twinkling with admiration as he smiled at Yun Hejing. "With his ability, it would be no problem for to accept him as a disciple, or even as my personal disciple."

Yun Hejing’s face lit up with joy at his words.

As soon as Yu Changsheng had passed the selection, she had co to her master to tell him about it, and she had even thoroughly investigated Yu Changsheng’s background.

She did all this so that Beast Taming Peak would take Yu Changsheng seriously and cultivate him properly. With the right training, he would surely beco another Golden Core True Master for the peak in a hundred years!

However, Mo Pengchen shook his head and smiled wryly. "But I cannot accept him now."

Yun Hejing was taken aback. "Why is that?" she blurted out.

"Master, is it because Gongsun Yang has accepted Yu Changsheng as his personal disciple?"

"But he joined Beast Taming Peak, which shows he’s already made his choice. Besides, with Gongsun Yang to guide him, his Alchemy skills will be superior to the other disciples’. There’s every advantage and no disadvantage!"

"Master, you can’t give up on such an excellent disciple because of so old, stubborn prejudice!"

Mo Pengchen held up a hand to interrupt her. "No, you misunderstand."

"I want to accept him, I really do. It’s just... Elder Wei seems to have taken an interest in him."

Mo Pengchen sighed with a hint of emotion as he said this.

Yun Hejing, anwhile, looked utterly astonished.

"Elder Wei? But... but didn’t he stop taking on disciples?"

Mo Pengchen shook his head. "I don’t know what Elder Wei is thinking either. But if he were to take the boy as his disciple, it would be an incredible blessing for him. He might even have a chance to beco the next Peak Master."

"Or perhaps... Elder Wei has taken notice of his Spirit Beast Affinity Physique and wants to groom him, to have him attempt a Contract with..."

Mo Pengchen trailed off, his tone deeply aningful.

"This matter is no bad thing for that Yu Changsheng. After all, a genius is only useful if they survive long enough to reach their potential. He’s only at the Qi Refining Realm right now; his road is still long."

"If I were to make him my personal disciple, the eyes of all four peaks would inevitably fall upon him. Pressure, conflict, and suppression would surely follow."

"In any case, let’s leave this matter here. You don’t need to say anything more. Let’s allow things to develop naturally. I’m sure Elder Wei has his own plans."

Yun Hejing’s mind was reeling, but she cupped her hands in assent. She then left the cave abode, a trace of shock still lingering on her face.

After Yun Hejing left, Mo Pengchen stood at the entrance of his cave abode, gazing out beyond the mountain. He murmured, "Is it possible?"

"Ever since the Purple Mansion Ancestor passed away, no one has been able to get near that Spirit Beast, let alone form a Contract with it. Even Elder Wei can only visit it once a month."

"Can a re Qi Refining Cultivator really fulfill the old ancestor’s dying wish?"

"And how long would it take... Is there enough ti?"

Mo Pengchen did not know the answer, and his thoughts could only dissolve into a sigh.
