I Stepped Aside for Her, Now They Beg My Forgiveness Every Night Chapter 138: Withdraw Your Lawyer
If this counted as dostic abuse, she would need to have Attorney Miller co over to collect evidence.
At that mont, Attorney Miller happened to be in Hugo Sterling’s office. He pulled up a photo on his phone and handed it to Hugo. "CEO Sterling, take a look. CEO Lawson was really rough! No wonder Mrs. Lawson wants a divorce."
Hugo Sterling saw several purple bruises on Noelle Sutton’s wrist, and his brow furrowed.
Attorney Miller added, "She said they were from being tied up with a tie."
Hugo Sterling shot to his feet.
"Did he force himself on her?"
Seeing how agitated Hugo Sterling was, Attorney Miller said, "I don’t know. I’ll ssage her and ask."
Hugo Sterling handed the phone back to Attorney Miller. "How about this: see if she’s ho and go help her collect evidence. I’ll go see Tristan Lawson."
"Are you really going to get involved in Tristan Lawson’s divorce?"
Hugo Sterling raised an eyebrow. "Do I look like I’m joking?"
"Alright, I’ll contact her right away."
Hugo Sterling left the office.
Noelle Sutton soon received a ssage from Attorney Miller.
[Miss Sutton, according to Article 2 of the Anti-Dostic Violence Law, "binding and restricting personal freedom" is explicitly listed as an act of dostic violence, regardless of whether it causes visible injury. Therefore, this qualifies as dostic abuse. Are you available now? I can co over to collect evidence.]
[Yes, I’m ho.]
[Okay, I’m on my way.]
Hugo Sterling went to Lawson, but Tristan Lawson wasn’t at the company.
He thought about what had just happened. It must have been recent, so Tristan Lawson was most likely at ho.
Tristan Lawson had arranged for soone to deal with the burst pipe. When he returned to the master bedroom, Noelle Sutton was gone.
’She’s nothing but trouble.’
’Sothing like this would never have happened at ho before.’
Tristan Lawson recalled that when he had untied the tie, there were marks on her wrists.
’Her skin is so delicate; the slightest touch leaves a mark.’
’Still, my actions were indeed a bit extre.’
’Forget it.’
’I should just go pick her up and bring her back.’
’I’ll talk to her nicely.’
Just as Tristan Lawson was about to leave, Hugo Sterling arrived.
He arched an eyebrow.
Hugo Sterling said nonchalantly, "What, not happy to see ?"
Tristan Lawson headed back to the living room, and Hugo Sterling followed him inside.
Tristan Lawson opened a drawer, took out a file, and held it in his hand. "Since you’re here, it saves a trip to find you. This is the information you wanted."
Hugo Sterling reached for it, but Tristan Lawson pulled it back. His tone was non-negotiable. "Fire your lawyer."
"If I don’t, are you not going to give it to ?"
Tristan Lawson pressed his lips together, his handso features showing little emotion.
After a mont’s pause, he handed the file to Hugo Sterling anyway.
Hugo Sterling took the file, his tone teasing. "Not worried I won’t fire the lawyer?"
"I’m giving this to you out of respect for Mrs. Sterling. I don’t owe you any favors. If you don’t fire the lawyer..." Tristan Lawson’s voice turned cold. "When I get nasty, I won’t care that your last na is Sterling. After all, you’re the one who crossed the line first."
His business with Noelle Sutton was his family’s affair.
Anyone who interfered was crossing the line.
"Are you angry?"
"If you keep this up, I might get angry."
Tristan Lawson’s reply was nonchalant.
He could tell Hugo Sterling had a bit of a thing for Noelle Sutton. But he didn’t think Hugo would go so far as to fight him over a woman for such a minor interest.
"Tsk. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were so deeply in love."
Hugo Sterling couldn’t resist the sarcastic jab.
That morning, when Noelle Sutton had listed Tristan Lawson’s emotional infidelity, Wyatt Yates hadn’t translated it. But judging by how Wyatt had been angry enough to grab a golf club to hit Tristan, Noelle must have been seriously wronged by him.
"Doing you a favor just to listen to your passive-aggressive remarks. You’re the only one who’d have the guts."
Tristan Lawson’s tolerance for Hugo Sterling was actually quite high.
Two years ago, Hugo had ruined his shared power station project.
Two years later, he was still constantly pushing his buttons.
Yet Tristan hadn’t really gotten angry.
"Since you’ve put it that way, let give you a reminder too. Don’t just demand that others not cross the line. You should take a good look at your own boundaries, lest I get confused about whose husband you are in the future."
Tristan Lawson’s expression darkened.
Hugo Sterling shrugged and brandished the file folder in his hand. "I’m off to take care of business. No ti to chat. Bye."
Hugo Sterling stood up and left.
’The main reason I made a special trip was to get this file.’
’Who knew if Tristan Lawson would fly into a rage and go back on his word because I hired a lawyer for Noelle Sutton?’
After getting into his car, Hugo Sterling opened the file.
Inside were the profiles of ten won, filtered by Tristan Lawson using big data. They all had the sa birthmark and were all twenty-six years old. So had photos, so did not.
Hugo Sterling took pictures of the docunts and sent them to his secretary, telling him to investigate the detailed information of these ten won as soon as possible.
Once that was arranged, he started the car and prepared to head to Noelle Sutton’s ho.
’In the past, he wouldn’t have bothered ddling in other people’s business.’
’But for so reason he couldn’t quite explain, this was one business he just had to ddle in.’
’On one hand, he wanted to see Tristan Lawson squirm. On the other... he genuinely felt sorry for Noelle Sutton.’
’If he didn’t intervene in Noelle Sutton’s situation, she would likely have a very hard ti getting this divorce.’
Tristan Lawson had been about to go pick up Noelle Sutton, but Hugo Sterling’s interruption had left him irritated. Seeing Hugo’s defiant attitude, it was clear he had no intention of backing down.
He lit a cigarette and leaned against the balcony to smoke.
’He was a man with a moral compass, after all.’
’Marriage was sacred to him.’
’He was completely faithful to his marriage. Even though premarital cohabitation was rampant in modern society, he had never once had the thought of casually sleeping with a woman.’
’He was a purist.’
’When it ca to physical intimacy, he never wanted there to be a next person.’
’For him, or for his partner.’
’Therefore, once he chose one, there would only ever be one.’
’He would never betray that in his entire life.’
’Wasn’t all of this enough to satisfy Noelle Sutton?’
’How many n were faithful to one person, n who had only ever been with one woman their entire lives?’
The thought of matters between n and won made Tristan Lawson feel restless again, and he took a deep drag from his cigarette.
He strode into the living room, stubbed out the cigarette, and went out.
When Tristan Lawson’s car entered the residential complex where Noelle Sutton lived, he imdiately spotted Hugo Sterling’s car.
His gaze froze.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Hugo Sterling’s number.
Noelle Sutton was in the middle of a discussion with Attorney Miller.
Seeing the call was from Tristan Lawson, Hugo Sterling stepped out of the room to answer it.
"We were only apart for a little while. Miss already?"
"Where are you?"
Tristan Lawson’s voice was cold and heavy.
Hugo Sterling had just parted ways with Tristan Lawson, and now Tristan was calling. There was only one possibility: he already knew where Hugo was.
’It seed the address of Noelle Sutton’s little apartnt had been leaked.’
"At your wife’s place."
Tristan Lawson hung up.
Hugo Sterling called the elevator to go down.
When the elevator doors opened, Hugo Sterling saw Tristan Lawson.
’He’d even found his way to this very building. Tristan Lawson really did know Noelle Sutton’s address.’
Hugo Sterling stepped out of the elevator, raising an eyebrow. "When did you find this place?"
Tristan Lawson shot him a cold glance and pressed the elevator button. The doors opened again, and just as Tristan was about to step inside, Hugo Sterling grabbed his arm.
