"Look, I’m telling you now. If you get drunk again this ti, I really am leaving you on your own.

I’ll just go back to the hotel and get so rest, and you can spend the night alone in so bushes by the road!" Lin Li said, half-threatening her.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Why are you acting like a naggy old man? You keep repeating the sa thing over and over. You’re such a nag." Su Yue rolled her eyes at Lin Li before taking another gulp of beer.

"..." Lin Li was speechless. ’First, I said she was nagging like a mom, and now she’s calling a naggy old man. This is just us hurting each other...’

’Fine, fine, fine! I’m not going to try and talk you out of it anymore. When you get drunk, I really will leave you behind,’ Lin Li grumbled to himself. He then turned his full attention to demolishing the delicious spread of seafood before him.

A short while later, he finished his one bottle of beer, thus satisfying Su Yue’s request for him to drink with her. Lin Li then eagerly opened a sugary soda and poured himself a full glass.

"Why are you drinking that sugary stuff? Let open another beer for you!" Su Yue said when she saw him drinking the soda.

"Don’t open one for . If you want to drink more, go ahead. One beer with you is my limit," Lin Li said, shaking his head in refusal. He then raised his glass, took a sip of his soda, and a satisfied smile spread across his face.

"Hmph. Fine, don’t drink with then! What’s the big deal? I’ll just drink by myself." Su Yue huffed, then downed another bottle of beer.

You had to admit, Su Yue’s tolerance for alcohol was impressive. By this point, she had already drunk five bottles of beer.

Other than a barely perceptible blush on her fair cheeks, she showed no signs of being drunk at all.

...

The sun had vanished from the horizon, and night had fallen.

The sea at night was vastly different from the sea by day.

After sunset, the boundless ocean grew deeper and more tranquil.

The undulating surface of the water reflected the bright, full moon and the countless stars that twinkled like diamonds in the sky.

A sea breeze blew in gusts across the water. Surging waves crashed against the reefs on the shore, sending up splashes of white spray.

Two figures walked slowly along the moonlit coastal road, one behind the other.

The figure in front walked with a steady gait, while the one behind wobbled and swayed, looking as if they might fall over at any mont.

’Don’t look back. This ti I have to teach this woman a serious lesson, so she doesn’t pull the sa stunt again...’

Lin Li muttered under his breath. Even as he told himself not to look back, his ears were trained on the sound of the footsteps behind him.

A few minutes earlier, they had thought they’d never be able to finish all the seafood. But Lin Li had gone on a rampage, demolishing every last bite on the table.

After they had eaten and drunk their fill, just as Lin Li had predicted...

Su Yue, who had put away a whole case of beer, was a little tipsy. She was still doing alright, though; it wasn’t as if she couldn’t walk.

Since they were both quite full, the two decided to take a leisurely walk back to their hotel to help digest the al.

They started off walking side by side, slowly covering the three or four kiloters under the moonlight.

But after they had gone four or five hundred ters, a strong gust of wind blew in from the sea. The alcohol suddenly hit the already tipsy Su Yue, and she began to wobble as she walked.

Seeing her stagger about, Lin Li felt a wave of exasperation. ’So it ended up like this after all,’ he thought.

He thought back to dinner, when she had confidently thumped her chest and declared she wouldn’t get drunk. Lin Li didn’t even know where to begin with his snarky comnts.

Suddenly, the footsteps behind him vanished. Lin Li’s heart skipped a beat. He thought Su Yue had tumbled into the bushes by the road and quickly spun around to look.

’Uh... well, alright then.’ She hadn’t fallen into the bushes. Instead, she was just standing in place, staring down at the ground and nodding her head blankly, looking as if she were about to topple over at any second.

"Honestly, you’re just... I give up."

Seeing her like this, Lin Li couldn’t bring himself to be cruel and just leave her. If she really did fall flat on her face, she’d definitely crack her head open, and that was the last thing he wanted.

With a helpless expression, Lin Li walked over to Su Yue, raised his right hand, and flicked her squarely on the forehead.

"Ow!" Su Yue yelped. She clutched her forehead where he’d flicked her and stared at him blankly. "Wh... Why’d you flick ?"

If Su Yue had been sober, a flick on the forehead from Lin Li would have made her jump up in a rage and demand retaliation.

The fact that she didn’t fight back and instead just dumbly asked him why he’d done it was proof enough that the alcohol had really muddled her mind.

"At the pace you’re going, when are we ever going to get back to the hotel?

I have no intention of sleeping on the side of the road tonight. I’ll carry you the rest of the way," Lin Li said irritably. Without waiting for a reply, he turned and crouched down.

After a few seconds with no movent behind him, he turned his head and prompted, "Don’t just stand there like an idiot. Hurry up and get on."
