Aurelia kept glancing at as we left the brothel district and landed nearby.
Not the casual kind of glance either.
More like the "are you insane?" kind.
We walked through a quieter street while the neon lights of the entertainnt district slowly faded behind us.
After about five minutes of silence, she finally spoke.
"Are you serious?"
I looked down at her.
"About what?"
"About confronting him."
Ah.
That.
"Yeah," I said simply.
She stopped walking.
I took a few more steps before noticing she wasn’t beside anymore. When I turned around, she was standing there with her arms crossed, looking worried.
"You don’t understand," she said.
"I probably don’t," I admitted.
Her eyebrows twitched slightly.
"That man isn’t just so noble," she continued. "He’s a duke now. Newly titled, but still powerful."
"Okay."
"And he has guards. Many guards."
"I figured."
She stared at for a mont.
"...You’re not taking this seriously."
I scratched the back of my head.
"I am."
"Then why do you sound so relaxed?"
"Because I am relaxed."
That clearly didn’t help.
She let out a small frustrated sigh.
"Jake, these are trained dwarven warriors. So of the strongest fighters on this planet."
"I believe you."
"And you’re talking about walking into his mansion and provoking him."
"More or less."
She stared at again.
Then she muttered sothing under her breath.
"You’re insane."
"Probably."
I turned and started walking again.
After a few seconds, I heard her small footsteps hurrying to catch up.
"You can’t just underestimate them," she said quickly. "Dwarves may be short, but they are extrely strong. Our soldiers train from childhood."
"I’m aware."
"Then why are you so confident?"
I shrugged.
"Because I can take them."
"All of them?"
"Yep."
She blinked.
"All of them at once?"
"Sure."
She stopped walking again.
"You’re joking."
"Nope."
Her face twisted slightly.
"That’s impossible."
"Not really."
Sigh, this girl is cute and annoying at the sa ti.
She stared at like I had just told her I could punch the moon.
For a few seconds she didn’t say anything.
Then she rubbed her temples.
"You’re spitting complete nonsense."
"Maybe."
We walked in silence for a little while.
Eventually the buildings around us started getting bigger and more expensive looking. The streets also beca quieter.
Clearly we were moving into the noble district.
Aurelia glanced up at again.
"...You’re really not afraid?"
"No."
"Even if sothing goes wrong?"
"I’ll deal with it."
She studied my face for a mont.
Probably trying to figure out if I was bluffing.
Eventually she sighed.
"Fine."
"Feeling better now?"
"Not really."
"At least you’re still walking."
"That’s because I’m already too deep in this situation to turn back now."
Fair enough.
We kept moving through the district until the road opened into a wide stone plaza.
Then I saw it.
A huge mansion stood at the far end of the plaza.
Stone walls. Tall towers. Large iron gates and guards. Lots of guards guarding the mansion.
Aurelia slowed down beside .
"That’s the place."
I looked it over. It was definitely a noble’s residence.
The outer walls alone were taller than most buildings in the brothel district.
Several armored guards stood near the entrance gate.
And I couldn’t help noticing sothing.
I leaned slightly toward Aurelia.
"...Are those guys supposed to look intimidating?"
She frowned.
"Of course they are."
I scratched my cheek.
"Because they look kind of... small."
She stared at .
Then she looked back toward the guards.
To be fair, the tallest one there was maybe five foot two. And that guy looked like a giant compared to the others.
Most dwarves here seed to hover around four feet tall.
Including Aurelia.
She noticed my expression and sighed.
"Yes, we are short."
"I know."
"That does not make us weak."
"I didn’t say it did."
She crossed her arms.
"Dwarves are extrely powerful physically."
"I’m sure you are."
I enjoy teasing this girl and exacting revenge. I was supposed to be pounding so pussy right now.
From my perspective, the entire group looked like a squad of angry children guarding a castle.
Not exactly intimidating.
But I kept that thought to myself.
"Except , of course," I added.
She groaned softly.
"You’re unbelievable."
I stepped forward a bit and looked up at the mansion.
Then I took a slow breath.
Ki spread out from my body like a ripple through water.
It passed through the walls.
Through the ground.
Through everything.
Hundreds of life signs imdiately appeared in my senses.
Guards outside.
Servants moving through hallways.
Several groups of people gathered inside large rooms.
Then, I slowly lifted off the ground.
Aurelia blinked.
"You’re flying."
"Yeah."
"Why are you flying?"
This girl really has no clue.
"For better view."
I rose higher until I was floating above the mansion.
From here, the whole estate spread out beneath .
Aurelia hovered beside a mont later thanks to the Ki I extended around her.
Her eyes widened slightly as she realized she wasn’t standing on anything.
"I’m floating."
"Try not to panic."
"I’m not panicking."
She looked down.
"Okay, maybe a little."
I ignored that and focused on the building again.
"Alright," I said. "Describe your fiance."
She blinked.
"What?"
"I need a description."
"Oh."
She thought for a mont.
"He keeps a long beard," she said. "Very well grood."
"Okay."
"And he has a round stomach. Not extrely fat, but... noticeable."
"Got it."
I expanded my Ki deeper into the building.
There were dozens of dwarves inside.
But only one matched that description perfectly.
Standing in a large room filled with other nobles.
Looks like a party.
How convenient.
"I found him," I said.
"You already found him?"
"Yep."
She looked impressed for about half a second.
Then she rembered sothing.
"Wait. What are you planning to do exactly?"
I wrapped a thicker layer of Ki around her.
"Hold on tight."
Her eyes widened.
"Jake—"
Then I dropped very fast.
The air rushed past us as we shot straight down toward the mansion roof.
Aurelia grabbed my arm instantly.
"JAKE!"
Too late.
I angled my body and aid directly at the large hall where the duke was standing.
Then I accelerated.
The roof exploded the mont we hit it.
Stone shattered.
Glass burst outward in every direction.
The entire mansion shook like it had just been struck by a teor.
We blasted straight through the ceiling and slamd into the middle of a massive room.
Boom.
The shockwave rattled every window in the building.
For a few seconds, dust and debris filled the air.
Broken glass rained down around us.
Sowhere nearby, people were screaming.
I stood up slowly while brushing dust off my coat.
Then I gently lowered Aurelia to the floor beside .
"That was unnecessary," she muttered weakly.
"Seed faster."
The dust finally started settling.
And that’s when I noticed sothing.
The entire room was packed with dwarves.
Noble dwarves wearing fancy clothes, Jewelry and expensive wine glasses still clutched in their hands.
Looks like we crashed a party.
A very fancy party.
I glanced around.
Long banquet tables, golden decorations, musicians frozen mid-performance in shock of what happened.
I straightened up fully.
And imdiately realized sothing else.
I towered over everyone in the room.
Even the dwarves standing on the raised platform near the back barely reached my chest.
Dozens of stunned faces stared up at .
Silence filled the hall.
Then one dwarf stepped forward on the platform.
He has a long beard, round stomach and is wearing expensive clothes.
Bingo.
His eyes were wide with shock.
Then his gaze snapped toward Aurelia.
"Aurelia?!"
His expression twisted instantly.
"What is the aning of this?!"
His voice echoed through the damaged hall.
Then his eyes moved back to .
"Who is this man?!"
His face started turning red.
"And why are you dressed like—"
He stopped mid-sentence.
Clearly noticing her outfit.
His eyes bulged.
"What are you wearing?!"
Aurelia stood beside quietly.
For a mont she didn’t say anything.
Then she took a small step forward.
Her voice was calm.
"This is the man I choose."
The duke blinked.
"What?"
She lifted her chin slightly.
"This," she repeated clearly, pointing at , "is the man I want to marry."
The entire hall went silent again.
The duke’s face slowly turned a very impressive shade of purple.
Yeah.
This was about to get interesting.
