Anne suddenly pulled out a folded piece of paper and handed it to Jake. He opened it and his eyes widened.
"Why is this an ultrasound? And not a flash scan?"
"Because ultrasound is the safest for us," Anne said gently. "Imagine blasting a super bright light at the baby."
"I see…" Jake murmured, then pulled both mother and daughter into a quiet embrace. Since they refused to have sex, he had no choice but to only suck on their nipples as he couldn't hold back again due to their teasing.
---
A week passed.
Jake stood alone on the rooftop, the city sprawling beneath him. This was the mont—the tipping point of his life. Everything moving forward would be shaped by the decision he made here.
"Mimi, what do you think? Is it worth joining the Supers Academy?"
{What's the point now, master? You only considered it before because of your friends—and because you hadn't realized the truth. You're the face of the vampires. If you go, it'll look like we bowed our heads. Like we're slaves.}
"…Right. I know. I just wanted to hear it from soone else," Jake said quietly. "So what now?"
{Plenty, master. This is just the calm before the storm. But… haven't you been underestimating the system lately?}
"In what way?"
{You haven't completed a mission it gave you a long ti ago. And—hold on. I think we've got company.}
Suddenly, Jake's senses flared. A foul aura spilled into the air, thick and rotten—it nearly made him gag. His eyes narrowed. Whoever it was… they weren't hiding. They wanted him to notice.
"Why don't you co out and talk instead of playing gas?" Jake called, calm but sharp. "Or maybe you do want to play. I'm fine with that too."
Silence.
Seconds passed. Then a minute. Still nothing.
"I see. So that's how you want to do this."
Jake exhaled and unleashed his aura— it was powerful, wide-reaching. It spread over the building like a wave, and imdiately, he felt the intruder's presence. They were crouched in the flower garden.
Jake blinked—vanishing from the rooftop and reappearing beside the intruder. Then his hand closed around their neck.
"Got you—" he paused. His eyes widened.
"…A doll?"
He stared at the thing in his grip; a small, white, faceless doll.
'This person's on another level…' Jake thought grimly.
Then a voice echoed behind him—back on the rooftop.
Sultry. Mocking. Female.
"Why so tense, Protoss?" the voice cooed. "Are you afraid the gods might finally co knocking? Hehehe… You're just a scared little cat after all."
The words hit like a slap. Jake's face paled. She knew where to strike—and she did it without rcy.
He blinked again, returning to the rooftop.
A silhouette darted back just as he arrived, wind whipping her coat's massive collar. She stopped at the edge, standing tall and still.
'A woman.'
Jake could tell from her fra—and using Gyo, he confird it. But even Gyo had its limits. Her mask shielded her face completely.
'A werewolf. And a powerful one…'
Jake narrowed his eyes.
"You're not a god. So who sent you?"
The woman suddenly burst into laughter at Jake's question.
"Who sent ? Please. Being soone's lackey is the last thing I'd ever be," she said, her voice laced with pride.
"I know everything about you, Protoss—more than you know yourself. Every ti you reincarnate, you lose pieces of your mory. I could refresh it for you... but where's the fun in that?" she added mischievously.
{You've t your match, master,} Mimi quipped.
Jake's eyes narrowed. "You know nothing about . Maybe you know my past selves—but not who I am now. Don't get cocky."
A wave of vampiric aura rippled from Jake's body, dancing around him in a silent warning.
The woman scoffed. "Oi, calm down. I didn't co here to fight. You always get like this in every life. Took a while to find you this ti… and look at you. You've collected quite the harem, haven't you?" She laughed again.
Jake's patience wore thin. Her presence was aggravating, but he kept his composure since she didn't seem hostile, at least not yet.
"I won't ask again. Who are you?"
"Who am I?" Her voice shifted, losing a layer of confidence and gaining sothing almost... vulnerable. "You don't even have a faint idea?"
She paused, then regained her usual tone. "Doesn't matter right now. I'm here because we want the sa thing."
Jake raised a brow. "And that is?"
"Order. We want to put the gods in their place. That's your goal too. You might not rember, but it is. Since the gods can't be destroyed—sa as us—we have to teach them boundaries. They're disrupting the balance for selfish reasons."
Jake clenched his fists. "What goal? What balance? I don't care about any of that. I just want to live in peace. No matter what I do, they always co for . I get killed—then reincarnated again. Over and over. How long does this cycle go on? I'm done listening to whatever crap you're trying to sell ."
"I get it. It's frustrating. But the truth is... this cycle is your own doing. Your ego won't let you back down. You never learn. And clearly, you don't rember a thing. I bet you don't even rember there are other Protoss."
Jake's expression shifted. "Y-You an… you're one of them?"
"If you're ready, contact ." She pulled out a small black object and tossed it to him. "Just don't take too long, dear."
Jake caught it mid-air—but before he could say a word, her body disintegrated into dust.
'That voice… There was sothing in it. A sadness. A weight.'
'Who is she? Was she… important to ?' Jake stared at the object in his hand—a black flute. He tucked it into his inventory, his eyes lingering on the spot where she had stood.
"I'll see you soon," he whispered, reaching out to the empty air.
"Who do you want to see soon?" a voice interrupted, startling him.
Jake spun around. "Blair—! What are you doing here?"
"I sensed a malicious aura while I was sleeping. So, I ca to check it out," she replied, watching him closely.
"It's nothing. Just go back to sleep. Co on, let's go," Jake said, already leaping off the rooftop. "Jump. I'll catch you."
Blair hesitated, her thoughts racing. 'He's hiding sothing. I saw it. Soone was here. That aura… it had to be one of the gods.'
She leapt after him.
'I need to inform the others,' she thought, her gaze hard.
