Fighter, having resolved to cling tightly to this powerful thigh, imdiately spilled everything he knew, along with the mission Lord Amos had assigned.

“…Honestly, I think Lord Amos might be overthinking things. With your thods, Lord Blood King, there’s no way you’re with the official faction.”

“Having you carry a split Source of the Apocalypse Fragnt to bomb an official Apostle stronghold, it’s a bit too extre.”

Lin Xun’s mouth twitched, a herd of wild horses trampling through his heart.

So that’s what the Source of the Apocalypse is for…

No wonder the official faction was so afraid of Apostles obtaining it.

The Source of the Apocalypse was the origin of each apocalypse chapter.

Every ti he entered a new chapter, the cursed ga would prompt: ‘Do you wish to leave the safe zone and explore the root of the apocalypse?’

That root was the Source of the Apocalypse.

In the real world, using a Source would create a corrupted apocalyptic zone.

For example, the Ultimate Source of the Apocalypse – Corrupting Blood Sun that Lin Xun had acquired. Using it in reality was tantamount to summoning a fragnt of the Blood Sun into the sky.

Apostles who used the Source would transform into terrifying monsters.

As long as the monster remained alive, the corrupted zone would continue expanding, until it reached the Source’s limit.

Inside that zone, apocalyptic monsters would spawn endlessly until the Source’s power was fully depleted.

The higher the grade and difficulty of the Source, the stronger the spawned creatures, and the faster the pollution would spread.

Having understood all this, Lin Xun said coldly, “So Amos wants

to use the Source at the Public Security Bureau in Wen City? He’s trying to turn

into a monster and send

off to die?”

Fighter shook his head frantically, like a bobblehead.

“No, no, Lord! You’re still new, maybe you haven’t heard…”

“Our organization has developed a thod to split the Source of the Apocalypse. It no longer requires our comrades to sacrifice themselves and beco monsters.”

“It’s just that the power becos far weaker after splitting…”

As he spoke, Fighter summoned a small clump of granular material.

It was only the size of a coin, and emitted a faint yellow glow.

[Split Type-IV Source of the Apocalypse Fragnt – Withered Flowing Sand: A unique item. It will always drop upon Apostle death. This item has been split and cannot be solidified as a relic.]

“Lord Blood King, you only need to consu a bit of soul strength to use it in the real world.”

“Using it won’t transform you into a monster. But without a monster Apostle at the core, the pollution will be much weaker.”

“Lord Amos’s instruction was: unleash the Source at the Wen City Public Security Bureau, that alone will fulfill the task. If you can kill a few official Apostles while you’re at it, even better.”

Lin Xun took the Source fragnt from Fighter and tucked it into his inventory.

“Is there a ti limit?”

“Lord Amos said it must be done within three days. Miss the deadline, and you lose your qualification for promotion.”

“Give

your phone number.”

“139XXXXXXXX.”

Lin Xun picked up the landline on the nightstand, dialed the front desk to enable external call billing, then entered the number Fighter gave him.

When Fighter’s phone began to ring, Lin Xun imdiately hung up.

“I’ve morized your number. If it ever goes out of service, you know what that ans.”

Fighter nodded like a pecking chicken.

“Now scram.”

After Fighter left, Lin Xun pressed the side button on his wristwatch to send a signal.

Before long, Little White Deer’s voice ca from the hallway.

“Excuse , room cleaning.”

The door opened, and Lu Caiyi, still dressed in her hotel maid uniform, pushed her cart into the room.

She asked, “What took you so long? I thought sothing happened to you.”

Still caught up in the thrill of thoroughly dominating Fighter, Lin Xun frowned slightly and snapped reflexively.

“Call

Lord.”

Lu Caiyi blinked, unsure whether this was still part of the act or not.

A rosy flush blood on her cheeks. She nervously pinched the hem of her uniform and actually responded in a coy tone, “Yes, my Lord~”

Her voice was soft as a whisper, syrupy sweet.

Cultural Bureau Special Office, Third-Floor Conference Room.

The spacious room held only three people: Lin Xun, Li Xingyue, and Wang Zong.

After Lin Xun finished recounting his eting with Fighter.

Both Li Xingyue and Wang Zong looked utterly stunned.

“So… you’ve gained control over one of Amos’s agents?” Li Xingyue asked in disbelief.

“Son of a bitch,” Wang Zong growled. “That Amos bastard wants to bomb my Public Security Bureau?!”

Lin Xun ignored Wang Zong and turned to the black stocking lady.

“I’d say it’s only temporary. A guy like that needs regular beatdowns. Threats aren’t enough, you have to dangle rewards too.”

“Not bad,” Li Xingyue said. “Even if it’s short-term, controlling a proxy agent is a welco surprise. And you’ll likely beco an official proxy yourself soon.”

Wang Zong’s eyes bulged.

“Whoa, whoa, Li Xingyue. What do you an by that? You’re letting my Ard Division’s future son-in-law bomb the Ard Division?”

Li Xingyue’s brows arched sharply.

“Future son-in-law of the Ard Division? Did I agree to that? Since when did you start ddling in your subordinates’ personal lives?”

Seeing the conversation veer wildly off-course, Lin Xun quickly steered it back on track.

“Focus. The real problem now is figuring out how to complete Amos’s mission and officially beco a proxy agent.”

“We’re not seriously going to bomb the Ard Division with a Source, are we?”

At that, both Li Xingyue and Wang Zong fell silent.

Everyone in the room knew: the Public Security Bureau wasn’t just staffed with Apostles from the Ard Division.

There were also countless civilian clerks and frontline officers.

All of them were ordinary people, not Apostles. In a pollution zone triggered by a Source of the Apocalypse, their survival chances would be near zero.

Evacuating the civilians ahead of ti? Sure. But doing so would instantly blow Lin Xun’s cover.

After a long silence, the black stocking lady finally said, “We still have three days before the deadline Amos gave. There’s no need to rush.”

“For now, Lin Xun, return ho and wait. I need to report this to HQ before we decide on a course of action.”

Lin Xun had just stood up to leave when he suddenly rembered sothing.

That Storm Scroll of Thunder from the Cloudless Wastes that Li Xingyue had given him, he hadn’t used it.

If it had co from her own inventory, he couldn’t just keep it. He didn’t want her to take a loss.

He flipped his wrist, ready to manifest the item.

But Li Xingyue gently pressed his hand down and gave a faint smile.

The always-dominant, always-elegant woman suddenly blinked playfully and said, “Just hold onto it. I’ll put it on the expense report.”

“…”

Lin Xun was montarily speechless.

After thanking his superior and saying goodbye to Wang Zong, he left the Cultural Bureau building.

As he stepped out onto the sidewalk and prepared to hail a ride ho. A familiar white sedan was already waiting by the curb. Leaning against the car door was a girl in a flowing white floral dress, waving at him.

He rode ho with Little White Deer.

Back in his room, Lin Xun checked the ti.

His in-ga Soul Strength had recovered.
