"How unlucky to be living next to her. I hope she doesn’t bring strange n back to the dorms."

"Who knows? You’d never think she could be so shaless."

As a few female workers passed Grace Winslow, they muttered under their breath and shot her a cold glare.

"Wait," Grace Winslow said directly.

The two workers showed no embarrassnt at being caught gossiping. They glared viciously at Grace Winslow. "What? Others might be scared of you, but we’re not. Shaless hussy! You’re a disgrace to all won!"

"Is that so?" Grace Winslow smiled. "I don’t know what rumors you’ve heard or why you’re so hostile toward , but..."

"I’m not one to compromise just to keep the peace. So whatever you have to say, let’s air it all out right now. I’m listening."

"Hah! Still pretending. Who doesn’t know about you? Director Forrest treated you so well, and you still went behind his back with so other man. You’re so shaless!"

"A woman like you would’ve been drowned in a pig cage back in the old days!"

"Exactly! It’s disgusting. How can you still show your face at the factory?"

"We all know what you’ve done. You didn’t just cheat on him with so other man. You also used your connections to steal a job from a martyr’s widow. You’re truly vicious!"

"Grace Winslow, if I were you, I’d just kill myself. How can you still bear to live in this world?"

"Grace Winslow, you should just resign and get out of the textile factory! We won’t allow a bad apple like you to spoil the bunch!"

Once one person spoke up, a whole crowd quickly joined in, condemning Grace Winslow.

From their words, Grace Winslow was able to piece together the general story.

"Caleb Forrest told you I was the one who cheated?" She scoffed.

’As expected. Still resorting to these sa old dirty tricks.’

"Of course not! Director Forrest is too good of a man for that. Even after the divorce, he’s trying to protect your reputation, refusing to say a single bad thing about you. But don’t think for a second that just because he’s silent, no one knows the truth," a worker said bitterly.

It was as if Grace Winslow were the most disgusting, filthy woman in the world.

Grace Winslow looked at the woman, smiling as she shook her head. "I can’t tell if you’re just stupid, or if the one spreading these rumors is just that clever."

"So, if it wasn’t Caleb Forrest, it must have been Ivy White."

"So, have any of you actually looked into this? If you’d just asked a single question of any of Caleb Forrest’s neighbors, you wouldn’t be standing here hurling insults at ."

"Ivy White claims she’s a martyr’s widow, that her husband died and his family kicked her out. Doesn’t that make you even a little suspicious?"

"From what I’ve heard, the Dunn family only has two children, and Jason Dunn was the favorite since he was a boy. He died, and Ivy White bore him a son. Now, let’s say the Dunn family did kick Ivy White out—why would they abandon their own flesh-and-blood grandson?"

"Tell , what kind of grandparents would be so cruel as to abandon their own grandson?"

"Use your heads. Don’t be a pawn in soone else’s ga and not even realize it."

Having said her piece, Grace Winslow rolled her eyes, turned, and went back to her room.

She left the crowd of won staring at each other, dumbfounded.

"You know, what Grace Winslow said... it kind of makes sense. If my younger brother died and my sister-in-law had his child, my parents would put her on a pedestal. Why would they ever kick her out?"

"I heard they wanted to marry off their younger son and planned to sell her for the bride price."

"Are you an idiot? She’s the Dunn family’s daughter-in-law, not their daughter. They have no right to sell her."

"I heard Ivy White’s family is right here in Veridia County. So her in-laws don’t want her, and her own family doesn’t want her either? Why would she co running to Director Forrest for help instead of going back to her own parents?"
