The light from the flas flickered across Grace Winslow’s face, two small fires burning in her eyes.

Once everything had burned to ashes, Grace Winslow finally let out a sigh of relief.

The divorce had gone through without too much trouble, thanks in large part to Ivy White pushing things along.

If it hadn’t been for her, things wouldn’t have gone so smoothly at all.

Stretching lazily, Grace Winslow called over to Nolan Winslow and her brothers, "Dad, brothers, let’s go get a nice al. My treat."

"How could we let you treat us? It’s my treat. Let’s go! We’ll have a feast at the state-run restaurant." Nolan Winslow grinned, slinging one arm around Brandon Winslow’s shoulder and patting his own chest with the other.

Grace Winslow didn’t argue.

When Caleb Forrest returned ho, he was greeted by a scene that looked as if the place had been ransacked.

After they married, Grace was the one who bought everything for the house. He never asked about it and had no idea what they even owned.

Now that Grace was gone, he was confronted with just how barren his ho was.

He had already spent every last bit of his stipend on Cindy Lowell’s dical treatnts.

His job as a deputy factory director seed respectable, but the pay was lower than that of a senior worker.

That little bit of money had to cover maintaining his respectable appearance, daily expenses, and Cindy Lowell’s dical bills. It was nowhere near enough.

Caleb Forrest walked into Cindy Lowell’s room.

The old woman was unusually quiet today.

The mont she saw him enter, she burst into tears. "Oh, my son! My son, how could you have gotten mixed up with that vixen, Ivy White?"

"Now that Grace has divorced you, how are we supposed to live?"

Comparing Grace and Ivy White, she naturally preferred Grace.

She never fought back when hit or talked back when scolded.

She had taken care of her with all her heart and was very thoughtful.

’Ivy White?’

’That woman is lazy as sin.’

’I didn’t like her in the past, and I like her even less now.’

’She ruined my son’s perfectly good family, tore our ho apart.’

Caleb Forrest knelt by the bed. "Mom, it’s my fault. But things are already like this, so from now on..."

"What else can be done? We’re paying for our sins," Cindy Lowell murmured, tears streaming down her face.

Ivy White had also returned by now. She stood at the door, her gaze vacant, looking as if she still hadn’t fully woken up.

She had never expected Grace to agree to the divorce so decisively, and now she wasn’t so sure about Caleb’s attitude either.

But as for that five thousand yuan, she wasn’t confident she could get it back on her own.

’If Caleb won’t help , what am I going to do?’

After standing at the entrance for a long ti, Ivy White finally stepped into Caleb Forrest’s ho and closed the door.

Grace didn’t know about their sordid ss, nor did she want to.

Right now, her family of four was sitting in the state-run restaurant, enjoying their al.

Overjoyed, Nolan Winslow ordered fish, braised pork, and a whole chicken. The diners at the next table couldn’t help but stare.

In those days, everyone’s finances were tight. Very few people could afford such a lavish al all at once.

And judging by their clothes, they didn’t seem to co from a particularly wealthy family.

"Look at that, such capitalist behavior. They must be capitalists," soone at the next table muttered.

Hearing this, Nolan Winslow shot them a sideways glance and slamd his chopsticks on the table. "What’s it to you? Who made the rule that eating at makes a capitalist? You? Or you?"

"I’m a grade-seven worker! My monthly salary is enough for to eat and drink well every single day! You got a problem with that?"

At Nolan Winslow’s outburst, everyone lowered their heads.

Nolan Winslow’s brow furrowed, and he couldn’t help but look at Grace with concern.

Although Grace was in the right regarding the divorce, vicious gossip was a powerful thing.

’Who knows what kinds of stories those people will be spreading about my daughter behind her back.’
